I'm pretty sure Custom ones can be, and often are, made with a grip for 2 knuckles. It's a preference.

You can definitely do conventional grip for custom balls, but it's an older style made for weaker, elderly, or younglings. To bring most of the potential for hooking and more revs most people often do fingertip for their balls

@@joej6270 why u callin me a clown bro I’ve been bowling for 3 months and it helps me control the ball and get better scores. I averaged 60 points a game when I played one handed. I average over 100 every game now and hit a 168 since I started bowling two handed. It’s help me bowl better and I don’t understand why people think that it’s worse or is bad to bowl two handed. Jason Belmonte of all people bowls two handed. Look at him now. He’s pretty good ain’t he huh?

Only if you are a fingertip bowler. Balls drilled for your hand can be drilled the same as a house ball only it is sized for you.

Not only the gripping . A house ball made with plastic but a professional may made with polyester, urethane or resin . And the another differece is house ball has no core inside . But a professional bowl has core inside .

And house balls are more akin to a spare ball. Some spares do still have a small core in them, though. Having your own ball means not only do you have something to fit your hand better but you also have something with the ability to hook on its own. It changes a lot when you get your first ball.

It's called a conventional or a finger tip grip and you can have a personal ball drill conventional. usually That's how people start bowling and then when they become more advanced they begin to use a fingertip. The main differences. Between personal balls and house balls are the weights that affect the momentum differently. You throw a conventional gripped ball and you roll a fingertip gripped ball.

House balls put up with hard gutter hits in lanes everywhere and don't end up looking near that bad. Those scars are from the ball return being worn out, and likely the ball getting stuck and chewed up for a while.
