its metric you guys and it is for layman's to 1 Kw = the energy needed to lift 100 kg of weight 1 meter against earth gravity in 1 second at sea level if you do it for 1 hour than its 1 Kwh 1hp = do the same with 75 kg so 100hp = 75Kw

Im not familiar with your explanation, but it can't be right. As there is a time involved, it would not be power, but energy. After watching that video you still don't get it. Maybe this will be easier to understand: If you drive for 1 hour, using 20kW of Power consistently, you will use 20kWh. 20kW*1h+20kWh. Power is what you pull from the battery or the grid, Energy is the power you use multiplicated by the time you're using that power for.

In most of the world, Europe for sure, they use kW for the power ratings of their cars rather than horsepower. HP is such an antiquated term. In fact there are 4 different types of horsepower (mechanical, electrical, metric and boiler...yikes) Yes we in North America grew up with (mechanical) horsepower, and so its an easier way to compare one car vs another when talking to car enthusiasts here. 1 HP = 1.35962 kW, so a 350HP car would also be about 257 kW. Just pointing this out because a kW is not specific to electric cars/motors, its been used for cars before we went electric. Which is a mind bender for me as if i hear Watts or kW, i think electric..bulbs, power supplies etc, not a car's motor output ;)

We use kW in North America as well. Just some people like using HP to be able to reference to traditional gasoline cars
