Interesting and helpful! If I may offer a suggestion for subtitles - when speaking of a word as that word, I think it would be better to transliterate instead of translating. In other words, if someone were to explain these Polish words using English, that person wouldn't say, "You use 'to like' in this situation and 'to like' in that situation." Instead, 'lubić' and 'podobać się.'

to odcinek jest super, na początku myślałem sie że podobać bylo tylko synonym do lubić ale teraz wiem że to jest jak coś albo ktoś robi "podobać" w mnie.

Postrzegałem moim mózgiem ten odcinek jako bardzo przyjemny bodziec. Z jednej strony to żadna niespodzianka, bo zazwyczaj znajduję w waszym kanale dużo przyjemności. Właśnie dziś rano pomyślałem sobie, że… chwileczkę… a tak, dzięki wam robię postępy w nauce języka polskiego, to wiem, że wasza praca ma sens. Mam nadzieję, że czujecie to samo. Z drugiej strony w dalszym ciągu zawsze mnie zaskakuje gdy znowu wybierzcie pozornie banalny temat (który jednak zastanawia mnie codziennie, chyba macie wiedźmiński zmysł do tego) i opowiadacie o tym tyle ciekawych rzeczy. Wasz kanał, to właśnie jak przenośnik taśmowy w fabryce wyjaśnień. Uwielbiam to!

Lubić w porównaniu z kochać słabszy przejaw afektu. Coś jak like a love po angielsku. 'Kochać' to żywić głębokie uczucie. 'Kochać się' to także eufemistyczne określenie na uprawianie seksu, podczas gdy lubić się nie - od, po prostu wzajemnie darzyć się pozytywnym uczuciem (słabszym od miłości). Lubow w języku polskim nie istnieje. Jest miłość, jest kochanie i jest lubienie się. Jest też przymiotnik 'polubowny', oznaczający 'rozjemczy', 'łagodzący spór' (cywilnoprawny).

I suppose you can compare "lubić" to the English "be fond of." You can't be fond of something unless you know it well and it's a part of your life.

This might seem like a random comment but when Aga framed the question "Lubicie siebie?" I thought of the song "Try," by Colbie Caillat (2014). It repeats this lyric to a young girl who lacks self-esteem: "Do you like you?" Although the grammatically correct question is "Do you like yourself?" there's something moving about Caillat's phrasing it this way and with a sympathetic tone. Was this song popular at all in Poland?

But siebie is "self" yourself, myself, ourselves, oneself, himself herself etc.. Why did "Lubicie siebie?" remind you of this song?. I've never heard the song BTW but I can't speak for everybody so I'm not sure if it's popular

Moim problemem było to, że w sumie już to wszystko wiedziałem, jak trzeba użyć czegoś w danej sytuacji, a o dokładnej przyczynie nic nie wiedziałem..O przyczynach tego wszystkiego.. Mniej więcej robię już wszystko tak jak trzeba, nie wiedząc czemu coś jest tak, jak jest...

The difference between lubic and podobac sie is only problematic for English native speakers: Almost every other European language has the same distinction: Je t'aime. - Tu me plais. Te quiero. - Me gustas. Ti amo. - Mi piaci. Ich mag dich. - Du gefällst mir. Ja tebja lublju. - Ty mne nravishsja.

Yeah but don't forget that we also have: "kochać" and "uwielbiać" in Polish. "Ja ljublju tjebia" in Russian is more like I love you = kocham Cię. Not "lubię Cię". The same with "amo-te" in Portuguese etc.

Maybe you could translate "podoba mi się" by "it is pleasing to me" or "this pleases me"

or, we could say in English, "it appeals to me".

It doesn't fully defines "podoba mi się". 'Couse in English you don't say: "She pleases me" in order to communicate romantic/sexual affection to someone. You say instead: "I like her". If you use "Lubię Justynę" it means you like her as a friend or person generally. But if you say "Podoba mi się Justyna" it is obvious for polish ppl that you have crush on her and you like her in sexual way.

This pleases me means it brings me pleasure, makes me happy or this satisfies me. 'Podoba mi się' means this is attractive to me. When you say 'ta dziewczyna mi się podoba' the girl isn't pleasing you, you just find her attractive. She can still make you unhappy despite (or perhaps because of) her attractiveness.
