I’m a senior, turning 18 next month. I’m gonna go to trade school, the one I’m gonna go to is great and has a lot of opportunities. I’m looking to become a skilled tradesmen. I hate school and rn I feel like I’m sitting on my thumbs waiting for my life to start, but if I get my ged I can enroll for this January instead of July with a different piece of paper that means the same thing. I wanna start my career and my life get ahead. But, my parents are against it, find it “disrespectful” after they put me through school. I try explaining how it’d be good for me but, they just don’t seem to listen. I don’t want to leave hs cause it’s hard, I’m not bragging but, I am intelligent. I wanna get my ged and start my career. Anyways all I’m asking is if anybody has some advice for me it’s much appreciated.

Hi Devy. I too felt this away about school. I wanted to give up, drop out, and get my GED, but I stuck out with the grind, got my credits, and recently graduated in the class of 22'. I recommend you remain in high school for the next year and attempt to graduate as it will fly by as long as you maintain a 1.0 GPA. Good luck.

In New York, I called every single place one the list, they all said 17 or 18 plus, I only found one for 16 and the one I found, I had to pay $565. I already emailed them though

Can you help me out? Can you please let me know if it’s considered as a high school diploma? On my diploma it says high school equivalency (which I got through you guys in the state of AL) I know it sounds like a stupid question, but I would like to get some definitive clarification . I’m in the process of joining the Army. So I was told by a recruiter that if I was coming in with a GED for active duty I would have to score a 50 or better on the ASVAB ( I scored a 41 ). Now, if what I have is basically a high school diploma then I am good and won’t have to retake the ASVAB. Thanks for any feed back. Hope to hear something back soon.

i recommend that. currently I’m a freshmen, 16 in a year and half, but i’m using all this time to study, when I’m 16, I’ll take it and for sure be ready for it. i’d recommend dropping out to focus on your ged. but you must study, and make sure to pass it. otherwise it’s a waste.

If you wanna go to college then work towards scholarships in highschool. Do the act and sat shit while you're in there too. If you don't wanna go to college and would rather do a trade, get your GED, you'll start working earlier than others that way too.
