This is exactly what I needed! Thanks so much, Susan! Also, can you please tell me how to find all of the reference photos posted by your artist members that you mentioned in a different video ?
@monetcafe5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Cecilia.... I'm trying to use my own reference material lately, but we have a great resource of amazing photo references in our Facebook group... Monet Cafe' Art Group. There are over 1700 photos for artists to use. Please join and I know you will love our group. Also, i sometimes use, Paint My Photo.... www.pmp-art.com to get reference material. :) Thanks for your comment and happy painting!

Wow!! I love the tip with the color wheel and am amazed how the color value/tone changed while you moved it from warm to cool colors! How can I tell if it's a neutral color?
@monetcafe7 жыл бұрын
Irini Adler awesome! I'm so glad this video has helped with this important art knowledge. Neutral colors are basically dole colors. They almost look pale in comparison to others as if white has been added to them. After the making of this video I actually separated all of my neutrals like it showed in the picture of how artist Richard McKinley does it. Thanks so much for your comment and let's all keep painting in learning!

Monet Cafe' with Artist Susan Jenkins Thank you so much, Susan. Since I'm not a native speaker, what does "dole" mean? My dictionary doesn't and me either 😄!
@monetcafe7 жыл бұрын
Oh woops! It was supposed to be "dull". LOL! Auto-correct often puts the wrong words in. So in other words, the neutrals will be washed-out in color and not very vibrant. ;)

I hate to say this to all of you, but this is very wrong. The coolest blue is a greenish blue. The coolest red is a bluish red. And the coolest yellow is a greenish yellow. To make it simple. A greenish blue is the coolest color and a orangish red is the warmest color. Base all of your thinking off of that. Coolness is a gradation. So by definition a cool green cant be next to a warm blue... doesnt make sense.
