People are saying the camera settings are the flaw of this test, but I think the real flaw is the distance from the wall. There is not a difference in the comparisons because the headlights are too close to the wall. At a farther distance, there would be a noticeable difference. Great video though. I appreciate the time that you took out of your day to upload.
@GoneDeathMode3 жыл бұрын
Its both, coz the brightness could be affected by setting such as exposure and white balance. On top of that, a light output test against a wall thats 3 meters away is nowhere near relative to what the lights would be used for. So all in all, this really was a senseless test that should have been done with the wall being more than 20ft away from the car as that would be where it would matter most.
@thormjolnir20172 жыл бұрын
One major problem with all these perspectives and side line analyses is that he is telling you what he is seeing with his own eyes. Unless you're openly calling him a liar I think he can judge pretty well. Bro looks pretty fit, don't think his eyes are likely to be fudged🤑. Beyond that, do you all really think he hasn't, given what he does for a living, driven tinted hl down the road. Trust is always an issue but if Bro lies he will lose rep and therefore business, which he won't do. Great vid as always. Keep em coming👍👍🤑
@rweakley3 жыл бұрын
The problem with this is that the camera sensor can change its sensitivity to compensate for different light levels. The real way to do this would be with a light meter to get a lux reading. The only exception is the one shot where he has one dark and one light at the same time.
@romanjohnston Жыл бұрын
Yep. As a photographer your exactly correct.
@oldschoolchartist Жыл бұрын
If the camera settings were all set to manual and the non-tinted image was not clipping then this comparison WOULD work. But with a camera set to any auto mode (T/A/ISO) then the comparison fails. Side by side of the WALL would be very helpful. I am thinking about a light smoke tint for a Daytona Gray RS5... undecided.

Thanks for making the vid. Much appreciated. LUX meter would help quantify light output. Even with manual exposure, its pretty difficult to show realistic brightness changes through a camera. Most aren't aware that human eyes dont see brightness in a linear fashion. When it comes to concentrated light, for our eyes to perceive double the brightness, the light output needs to quadruple.
@aranykai5 жыл бұрын
Sorry Christian, but you need to repeat this test with locked exposure on your camera. You can clearly see less light is being reflected back onto the cars in the head-on shots, but the light-wall shots look identical because the camera is adjusting itself.

So many of you out there seem to think you need the brightest lights possible out at night, thinking the brightest led lights are safe and cool but all you’re doing is blinding the rest of us on the road! This VVIVID LIGHT SMOKE TINT IS NOT UNSAFE, I have it installed it on my Dodge Avenger headlights and DARK SMOKE on the tail lights and yes you loose a little light but not an unsafe amount and not enough to draw police attention, it’s an amazing product and fairly easy to use (tail lights have 2 round bubbles which is tricky but learn by mistakes I say) but I also don’t blind oncoming traffic like the led spotlights people are replacing theirs with or the ones the manufacturers are using these days, and my car looks way way cooler! So those saying they instantly removed it, grow a pair and stop blinding everyone else around you, even county driving is not unsafe as I do it often, and to those still using VVIVID PRODUCTS...........KEEP ON WRAPPIN!

I have light smoke vinyl wrap tint on both from headlights, Projection style housing with LED lights, Cougar motor LED (middle of the road, budget light) and I have to say, I am gonna rip them off since it does make too big of a difference and it is much darker. And I am a photography expert. I love the brand of vinyl wrap and will still use it. I am almost done with these for my tail lights and since my tail lights are LED, that's probably where they will be used as well as reflectors in the rear. 2016 Tucson SE for reference. I still like the video, just need everyone to be aware that it does dim it down and the camera does need to be on manual settings. I recommend a redo-with manual ISO and shutter and exposure. AGAIN, still will use the product, just not on the front unless I have a very very bright LED setup.

Thank you, Sir. I consider this a great video, under the circumstances. You have shown that there is relatively little light difference that resulted from the tints... at the source! There is sure to be incremental lost of intensity, the further the light must travel. However, that could be the subject of another video.
@lucasjuhas125 жыл бұрын
The camera isn't messing with the results: you can see that it is auto-adjusting in the headlight image and there's clear difference there, but that just indicates that the brigthness of the actual headlight goes down when darker tints. But in the actual lights there's absolutely no difference, same camera with same configurations. That video is not flawed, it proves that proper tint makes the headlight darker, while not affecting the actual light produced by the headlight.

Unfortunately your camera has misrepresented the data. The camera has automatically adjusted it's exposure, which is why the results for the darker tint appear to illuminate more of the wall, better: because the camera is setting itself for more exposure as the scene becomes darker (this is why in the comparison shot at 7:00 you can see the poorly lit edges better when the tint is darker).
