@@enoprejaime2965 It then looks like our “English Teacher”, above, has been riding the preverbal ‘Unopposed Free Ride’ for quite some time. I too learned from some very strict, yet very competent, English teachers during my grammar school days (62 - 65), in Chicago. Correct grammar should be something that we must never turn our backs on, or simply learn what we think we can get away with in life. This is our heritage! Don’t lose it! We could all end up speaking Ebonics. Yikes!

Great job, Emma! Thank you for your profound lesson! Also, the actions that happened between two past timings can be used in Past Perfect Continuous too. Here are the examples: It had been raining from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. yesterday I had been doing my home work from last Friday to Sunday. By yesterday, it had been raining almost every day for a week. By 2020, he had been in Paris for five years.

Thank you Emma! it isn't easy to grasp the difference between these two tenses but as usual you managed to convey it. As I understood we use the past continuos for a progressive action in a specific moment while we use the past perfect continuos to focus on the continuity of an action that started in a not specified time. I suppose it's the same difference we find between present continuos and present perfect continuos. Thnak you again.

1) We had been waiting for the bus for hours when it finally arrived. (Past perfect continuous because a period of time was specified for the continuing action in the past) 2) Last Monday, at 8 am I ate my breakfast. (Past continuous because that action was in progress at a an accurate moment in the past) 3) They were walking home when suddenly it started to rain. ( here 2 actions took place in the same time and the first action is in progress. then we need the past continuous) 4) We had been living there for months before we finally met the neighbours. ( a continuous action in the past where we specified a period of time. then the past perfect continuous might be correct) 5) Jag was listening to the radio when someone knocked on the door. (the first action is in progress and both two actions took place in the same time) 6) It had been raining so the ground was wet. (because the ground was wet is the consequence of a continuous action in the past) Thanks for helping.

When the topic is about GRAMMAR, guess who's the best teacher?....without a doubt you got it!!😉 Hi Emma, how's it going? My homework!! 1.- We had been waiting for the bus for hours when it finally arrived. 2.- Last Monday, at 8 am I was eating my breakfast. 3.- They were waking up home when suddenly it started to rain. 4.- We had been living there for months before we finally met the neighbors. 5.- Jag was listening to the radio when someone knoked on the door. 6.- It had been raining so the ground was wet. I was eating breakfast when Emma's notification suddenly appeared on my phone. I had been eating breakfast for half an hour when Emma's notification appeared on my phone. I was studying English grammar with Emma when my family arrived. Thank you so very much Emma, you are the best.😉 P.s for a momment I thought you made a mistake on the word "NEIGHBOURS", until I looked it at the dictionary. In Ametica we use "NEIGHBOR" with out the "u" I'm going to watch this video several times until I have nail it.

Hi Emma, I am from from Brazil. I'd like to say that your classes are awesome; I watch and learn a lot with the contents you bring. However, as I really like to study the language, and planning to give English classes to my kids, sometimes reading some of the rules, I really get lost, confused. I need some help and I thought I could send my doubts and if it’s possible for you, please, I'd like you to answer to it. Sorry if this is not the way to do it. In some books, I could find a rule to double the consonant like the following: c) In verbs ending in -l the consonant is always doubled after a single vowel. Example: travel - travelled. More examples: cancel, control, label, marvel, patrol, pedal, quarrel. in others: d) When a verb of one syllable has one vowel and ends in a single consonant, we double the consonant and add -ed. They are referring to the same word with different rules. Which one is the correct one? Thank you
