What's The Different Between A Eaton M62 and M65 Supercharger? SEE HERE!

In this video we show how the Eaton M60 series Supercharger evolved from the humble Eaton M62 found on the modern classic Mercedes Benz 200 & 230 Kompressor cars to the Eaton M65 found on the modern Mercedes Benz M271 engine found in the w203 and 204 and r171 r172 cars. This is useful for more than just Mercedes Benz cars though if you are looking to supercharge you lexus is200 or Mazda MX-5 / Miata.

Displacement, the M45 supercharger is designed for a smaller engine so it moves a lower volume of air l, where as the M65 is for a larger capacity engine and as such is designed to move a larger volume of air.

I run a m65 in my twincharger, it's a m45 in different casing. Much smaller than a m62.

M62 is easier to fit, but you would find the M65 would have more efficiency and produce lower intake temps, both would be ok for a K20 but it's more how much work do you want to do to make it fit, if that makes sense. 🙂

here in Brazil labor is cheap, I was thinking of importing one of the two through ali express, I was interested in the magnetic clutch of the m62, some friends said that I could adapt a button to turn the blower off and on whenever I wanted

Is there an oil change requirement on the Eaton M series? I have a Mercedes SLK R171 200 Kompressor 184 CV of 2008. Which model is it M65? Thanks

Ah yes so you have the later M271 engine yours was the last of the supercharged engines as in 2009 I believe it was they switched to using a turbocharger on the M271. But yes your absolutely correct it will be the Eaton M65, the drain fill plug I believe to be on the front of the supercharger to the right of the pulley. To drain requires the old oil to be sucked out easier than removing the supercharger, from what Info I have found it's fully synthetic supercharger oil between 235-250ml. It is a good idea to change the oil of the charger as just like an engine over time they wear and swarf (tiny metal flakes) can build up ultimately accelerating wear changing the oil will slow this process down extending the life of the supercharger. M62 or and M65 would work but it would be on the edge of its efficiency range, a M90 would work better in my opinion buddy

@@mlfactorywebentwicklung3174 M65 certainly a better choice being a more modern updated M62, it is more efficient and keeps the charged air temps lower. The M62 does like to become a bit of a heat pump at 0.6bar on a 2.3 so on a 2.6 with 2 more cylinder the M62 would be hard pressed, so the M65 is definitely a better choice out of those two, there are also the Audi V6 superchargers for the 3.0 engines. @@M-oneeleven-M111 Hello, i have setup the supercharger but i get 0.0 bar of boost. There are no leaks. I get 0.0 bar behind the throttle body and 1.2 bar of boost before the throttle body @3000rpm engine speed. So i googelt a lot. I found that the m65 is smaller then a m62. A m65 is a m45 - only in a other "case". So i need a m62 , right? Regards, Michael

the M271 is a little more challenging to turn with parts, there are certain intake modifications that can be done, I believe there is a plastic silencer in the intake that can be removed with the addition of a cold air feed, a remap is the best option for 271 powered cars as later models ditched the supercharger in the M271 Evo around 2009 these engines switched to using a turbo charger, I think there is a pulley mod out there for the M65 but these engines are not so easy to work on with the position of the supercharger.

Can i install the m62 to m104 280 engine? The engine looks quite similar to m111

It does indeed look similar but Mercedes did change a fair but between the two, however we have never tried the alternator supercharger mount from a M111. You could make one fit and it has been done before I'll find the link but it requires a lot of fabrication. Obviously not a problem if your good with a welder but if not that makes it a challenge. So the answer to your question is yes you could but I strongly doubt it would be a bolt on of thing. It maybe possible that the supercharger mount from the m111 may fit but I've never seen on done like that so I'm doubtful.

Yes there's a lot of m104 supercharger project, it's just not like what I'm planning. The reason I'm looking for bolting m111 charger is for oem look. Minor modifications is acceptable. Very true over here in the UK though when you modify a car and your between 25-32 insurance companies can charge you around £1000 or roughly 1200usd per year for your car insurance if you have done real engine mods I really dislike this country 🤣
