Three consecutive years of making the postseason (two teams) only to get bounced in the first round. Chevy gave this guy a MORE than competent roster and he let the guys drown. Idk what hockey was like more than thirty years ago against the likes of Gretzky and Lemieux, but in today's modern NHL you are NOT going to win hockey games by solely focusing on containing players like McDavid and MacKinnon, it's a fool's errand. It's tantamount to trying to force a lid down on a boiling pot. Bednar adapted and made changes, Cassidy adapted and made changes. Only reason the Stars made it to game 7 in 2022 was because like Bowness, Sutter was also a bonehead who didn't adapt and make changes, and that series could've gone either way.

Hellebuyck allowed so many ugly goals that among goalies who, up to and including games that'd concluded on 2 May Central Time, had played in at least 2 playoff games from April and had played for ANY of the Canucks, Oilers, Jets and Leafs, he had the LOWEST save % at 87.0. It's hard to believe that Ilya Samsonov, whose contract with the Leafs expires in June, put up a better save % than Helle (88.3 vs 87.0) and that wasn't even ENOUGH for Sheldon Keefe, Bowness' Leafs' counterpart, to have confidence in the ex-Caps' goalie to use him any more from the 3rd period of game 4 of the Leafs-Bruins playoff series. Joe Woll, playing in just his 2nd-ever NHL playoff series, has by contrast been a stud, stopping all but TWO of 56 shots he's faced over 3 games (2 starts) he's played in the Leafs-Bruins series -> 96.4 save %.

Defence sucked big time! Players left alone. Defensive zone structure sucked. Avs ran around our end all shifts. We collapsed around Helly and couldn’t move the puck out or gave it up before it crossed the blue line. We left him out to dry. Defence was an issue last year. They did nothing. Pionk, Logan, and others crspped the bed. Bones stuck to a failing lines.

Retreads like bowness are set in their ways. Most GMs have an hands off approach to dealing with head coach’s strategy and won’t interfere during the playoffs by ordering his head coach to do this and that. When the team is ousted from the playoffs, they conveniently make him the blame guy. Rick Bowness was fired by Dallas for valid reasons after taking them to a Cup Final. GM Chevy hired him warts and all. Bones will not change his coaching style just like a leopard cannot change its spots.

Aidin Hill spanked you as far as goaltending performances. Jordan Binington,out played you in the playoffs. You are no Patrick Roy,Martin Brodeur,Chris Osgood, Marc Andre Fleury. All these guys played the best hockey of their lives and won. In some cases multiple times, get over yourself.
