The RS saved me from two accidents during rainy weather. On the highway, a truck in front of me slid into a four car accident. The RS AWD had amazing control to avoid the accident. I couldn't believe it. A car behind me ran into the truck that I should have ran into. Now, I don't leave it parked. It is my daily driver.

Hello Scott -- nice video Sir. Im a 68 year old RS driver and loved it from new . Done a presentation at a college a while back, some young chaps in the class looking at me as the old codger thinking i was past anything and everything . Later in the car park I was loading my kit in the RS . Same lads going to their cars and they noticed me and mine .. I went from being the old lecturer codger to the old cool dude with an RS. "come on mate give it some pops and bangs" they said -- so i did!!!!! -- plus its my daily driver rain hail snow and sunshine..

Thanks for the great review. As for the seats I always take the time to show people how to get in the seats when I have a new passenger. The recaro seats have a cut out in the bolsters near the seat back. To get in you have them angle in so the inside leg is in the car and the outside leg ends up in the cut out when they sit down in the middle of the seat. Once they are seated they have one leg in the car and one leg outside the car in the cut-out. Once they sit down they swing their leg over the bolster and turn straight. Then they get out the same way. Swing the outside leg over the bolster and turn at and angle with their outside leg in the cut-out and stand up then the bolsters never get any wear on them. I find a lot of people that didn't know what that cut out in the bolster was for. It's a place for your outside leg when getting in and out. Enjoy!

Own the same car and it's standard . Your video is spot on for the experience . Love this car so much and never thought I'd be lucky enough to own one. You do right in using something else to keep the miles low on this as they are an investment. Top video Scott! Thanks for sharing 👍

If the ride quality is of concern you might want to make an effort to try and ride/drive one with the DSC controller. It makes a fantastic difference in ride comfort and suspension performance. They also hold their value well, so if you can pick one up you shouldn't expect to lose much (if anything when you pick up a used one) when/if you decide to sell it in the future. Plug-n-Play, but also very customizable. Beyond that smaller and lighter wheels will improve performance, ride quality, and handling, significantly. Additionally, there are improvements to be had by updating to the later (revised) dampers. Pair all three of these together, DSC controller, (smaller diameter) lighter wheels, and revised dampers and you'll be amazed at the difference. It's almost like getting a new car, and will have you wondering why Ford didn't deliver the MK3 RS set up like that from the factory when it's all fairly minor but makes such a significant improvement. IMO springs aren't really a great modification unless you're on a severally limited budget, and the aesthetics are a principle concern.

So the bucket seats are better.... because it leaves more legroom at the back, but you cannot adjust it, seat is too high, compromise in every way, and just "not too bad" 'auu", etc. IMO for a hothatch everything matters except rear legroom :D (I chose the standard ones after tried these bucket seats. I can adjust them perfectly for my needs, comfy, holds me extremely perfectly, and sits very low, doesn't hurt when I get in/out) These bucket seats are only about the looks. OR if you custom-tailor it for 1 person for hardcore track use. It is just paying for a worse seat... The only benefit I see, that the rear seats looks pretty cool with this setup :D

I put 18” on my RS. This does help with the ride and does not seem to take away the handling with good tires.

Loved the video Scott. I have had my RS for 5 years and I daily drive it every day. It's my school run wagon and my fun machine. I will say one thing which is hard to live with is the turning circle. I've had many issues with mini round abouts where I just cannot get around then and end up having to reverse and look a bit of a tit lol. I improved the ride of my RS by replacing the stock springs and going for H+R with 15 mm spacers. I would consider a DSC controller but If the ride gets too much for I would most like go KWS coilovers with the DSC controller. As for fuel, I think Its £80 a week at the moment using Esso synergy supreme plus 99. However fuels not going down as the more drivers who switch to electric the oil companies will increase the cost of fuel to compensate. I say, you only live once, so get out and enjoy it.

Mountune springs make a big difference in taking out some of the pogo’ing and harshness of the standard springs. I believe later models had a slightly lower seat height. My bolsters ended up really worn after 3 years even being careful, the light switch surround cracked, and the cubby hole flap where the OBD port is broke as well. Loved it though despite its faults but now drive a GR Yaris which is every bit as quick.

Oh and invest in some nice black McGard or similar wheel studs as the Ford 2 piece chrome ones are made of chocolate and managed to round one off trying to change a tyre after they were over torqued by dealer.

Hi Scott. Great video. Don't use mine as a daily but if I had to it wouldn't bother me as I love driving the RS. It most certainly brings smiles !! My sentiments on the ride but that's offset by all the other great attributes of the car. Have thought of changing to Mountune springs. What are your thoughts ? 👍

Personally I haven’t had many issues with reliability so far 🤞 my main issues I’ve encountered are having to change two wheel speed/abs sensors about £30 each and general wear and tear tires etc so far I’ve had the car now about 3 years and done around 20k miles

Hi Scott - thinking about upgrading my Mk3 ST to an RS. How much more difficult is it to park and is the ride noticeably worse? Particularly for passengers in the back! Cheers!
@scottr9785
@scottr9785 Жыл бұрын
Not sure on the difference in parking each one. Wouldn’t say it’s hard to park the RS although the turning circle isn’t always the greatest. Suspension can be hard to some but never had a passenger complain. I would assume the suspension is similar to the ST when in normal mode hope this helps

I bought one 12,000 miles mountune upgrade and kr suspension. Worst car I ever had. Suspension settings are way to hard. It a miracle of engineering handles like nothing on earth but just to hard. Daily driver no chance. The people who this cars for cant afford it or insure it.
