I have a story: I used to play D&D, and one time on a visit to see family, my cousin decides he's going to bring me (about 14 at the time) to one of his game sessions to meet his friends. They were all cool, except Jeremy. Jeremy was a typical neck-beard type, fedora, fingerless gloves, BO, and a superiority complex larger than the North American continent. Oh, and he was easily 23 years old. All night this man kept flirting with me, a flustered 14 year old minor, acting rudely toward the others in the group, especially when they tried to confront him about his behavior, and continuously trying to pull me into his lap so he could nuzzle my neck and 'teach me how to play.' I never accepted an invite to my cousin's game nights the rest of the time I was there, which was a bummer, 'cause I really did want to hang out with my cousin, but not if Jeremy was going to be there drooling on me.

I feel bad for all the normal guys that get caught in the crossfire, but stories like these are exactly why women shoot men down so hard even when they are making an earnest effort to flirt/chat and eventually ask for a date or something. Because Nice Guys mistake a kind/polite rejection as an invitation to keep pushing. This is why so many women just respond with, "I have a boyfriend," as an automated response (which sometimes ends up being embarrassing when the guy isn't actually making a move), because in reality, the Nice Guys respect a hypothetical man's "claim" more than the wishes of a woman standing right in front of them. 15:52 I knew a boy like this when I was in 10th grade, but he wasn't angry or entitled about all the rejection...he was just deeply, deeply sad. He was a year behind me in school and a huge target for bullies. My friend group (not popular by any stretch, but we walked the line between decent grades and a willingness to fist-fight if we had to) took him under our wings in hopes of limiting that. He was a sweet and harmless kid, so when he started stalking me around school it was annoying not concerning. At one point, he came into my classroom just before class started and hugged me, but he wouldn't let go, even when I asked and started telling him to stop and trying to pull him off me. (Think more like when your little sibling won't let go; this wasn't s*xual creepiness). I ended up having to call my friend (a big guy) to come over and forcibly pull him off me. He ended up bodily lifting him and setting him outside of the classroom and telling him not to come in again. After a few weeks, boundaries were properly set and the weird behaviors stopped. We remained friends/acquaintances until I graduated. 32:16 I've always tried to buy my own drinks/meals when going out on dates or with friends (until I was in an LTR). The few occasions that a man has bought me a drink or food and tried to pull the "you owe me," I have clapped back with, "I believe you have mistaken me for a prost*tute. I am not. And if I was, I would cost a f**k of a lot more than [insert price and item name here]." That tends to shut them up. And failing that, I have a big brother who taught me how to throw hands.
