I like to think that Ninten and Ness are just cousins who just didn't know each other. Ninten's father could be the brother of Ness's father. Since both fathers are workaholics, that could explain why Ninten and Ness don't know each other, since their fathers wouldn't introduce them.

Another piece of evidence that disproves Ninten and Ana being Ness’ parents. In the flashback where young Ness wears the red cap, one of his parents says that the bottle he pointed at moved a little; implying that it’s a complete mystery to them. If Ninten and Ana were his parents, then both parents having psychic powers would probably be a good explanation for why the bottle moved a little

Then again, we only saw "the bottle moved a little..." and that was it for that sequence. If it followed with "that's weird" or "I've never seen that before" then I'd believe a lot more that his parents have no idea what psychic powers look like. I still dont believe that Ninten and Ana are his parents since the other theories are just as likely, but I can't completely disprove it because of the new 1980 date in the latest update

One reason I don’t believe that Ninten and Ana are Ness’ parents is because after you defeat Giygas, there are some letters that you read. And if you read the letter from Ness’ Mom, she says that she heard that Ness defeated some kind of universal evil figure, What was it? Googi or something? If Ness’ Mom was actually Ana, then wouldn’t she already know who Giegue is?

@@alphaleafgaming747 I get what you mean but that's also the charm of the Mother series since in some ways it did do things Nintendo weren't exactly with. Plus it's like you said if did take place in 1980 and they had Ness in 1987 then they would be 19 or 20 (I say 20 cause I'm not sure if Ana is older than Ninten. Her birthday in December but I'm not sure if she's the December child born before Ninten's year or after) which by then they are already considered adults rather than teens which to me makes less depressing then to say if it happened when they were between 13-17. Then there's another idea/theory that they could've used a form of time travel (a less harmful version than the one in Earthbound) while Ana was pregnant with Ness like if they were trying to protect him from the ruined future Buzz Buzz had mentioned. I think many thought of this theory after an artist drew a piece of art that consisted of Lloyd and Pippi going through time to find a safer place for their son who would soon be named Jeff making Lloyd Dr. Adonuts. Worried the baby was being harmed from time travel they eventually did find a nice place. Im assuming they were running away from the ruined future that Giygas created. It may sound farfetched but it's possible. I mean if making a time machine in the 90's is possible then it's not impossible to say that it would be hard to make one in a future that takes place ten years away from when EB (technically never happened).

Mother 3 actually takes place about 10,000 years after EarthBound, with Dr. Andonuts appearing because of time travel and Pokey is there because he either does the same or is literally immortal. Also, remnants from EarthBound are found in that game, but they are easter eggs and nothing more. Like the Sky Runner being in that museum in New Pork, I believe? Anyways, there's probably not a way Ness and Lucas could be related due to the major year gap, just something I came across.

Alright, I'm getting tired of everyone asking me why my voice sounded like this so I'm pinning this for everyone to see. I was 17 when I made this and I was kind of insecure with my voice for not being "cool" or "manly" enough. Having played and beat both games, I could see Ninten and Ana being Ness's parents. Ninten struck me as the kind of kid that wouldn't think twice about getting a girl pregnant at a young age and then running off to do other stuff. Ana also looks somewhat like Ness's mom. You need to go to snowman, to get there you need to go to Duncan's factory and get to a rocket inside and have Lloyd fire it. That will open the way to the train station and you can travel to places. Go to reindeer from the station and talk to an old woman who will give you Ana's hat. Then go to snowman and towards the east side of the town you'll see a path that leads to the chateau. Give her the hat and she'll join your party. Hope this helps!

my theory: the apple of enlightenment created the prophesy of the four children using as a basis the three children originally responsible for defeating Gygas(guigue) in the past, for that reason, the apple chose children similar to the three of Mother 1, but not having the same weaknesses that made the previous heroes unable do completely defeat giygas(guiegue), Ness is like Ninten but he doesn't have asthma, Paula is like Ana but she knows how to pray and isn't scared of using her powers, Jeff is like Lloyd but he is much more strategic, brave and is respected for his intellect instead of being bullied for it, Poo may have been a personal choice of the apple.

No, he's confirmed 13 at the start and the game takes 10 years. Also it seems like nobody notices this, but....while the game states the year is "199X", so any year in the 1990's should work but probably 1990-1993 due to date of release, when you go to the library the librarian states that the map isn't due back until 2001...which she continues to say at the end of the game, so the 10 years the game takes place absolutely MUST be 1990-2000.

Actually, ness might still be alive. As a matter a fact paula, jeff, and poo might still be alive during mother 3... But this is all theoretical... Only reason i say this is because when lucas pulled the final needle, no innocent human would be hurt or killed. THAT IS if ness is still alive or found some sort of way time travel. This ties in with the sans theory, he used the phase distorter to go to another time where thing's weren't messed up. But the phase distorter can't transport organic matter so it ended up melting the math out of his bits.

The problem with that is for that to work Ninten and his Sisters would have to be out of the house by the time Ness was born since we don't see them during that scene. Seeing as though his sisters are at oldest 9 there would have to be at least a 20 year gap between the two games which is just of big of a jump as Ninten being Ness's dad.
