I have 2 stories: Story 1 - Trigger Warning (self harm) My son has gone to a charter school most of his school life (he's a junior). At one charter, our neighbor was the coach, and she helped us get in as we were new to the area. The next year, during the first term of the school, I got an email. I often read emails from school out loud when we were traveling, which happened a lot then. Well, I stopped after this one. It said something to the effect of "Coach C died of self inflicted wounds" (sewer slide) right up front! All it had to say was, "we aren't telling the students this, but..." and I would have stopped or at least scanned ahead. What they said instead was "she self harmed, but we won't necessarily tell the kids that." I was pissed at the principal/director's lack of discretion. My son played with her KIDS! He got so depressed in 5th grade that we pulled him from the school. We told the school they F-ed with that, and they said, "we don't think so. Why did you read it out loud?" And then when hid depression turned to acting out like a lot of 5th graders' do, they didn't offer counseling or help him with his grief despite us telling them he personally knew Coach C and her wife. They instead canceled his trip to the State Capitol and State Symphony. The Symphony was THE field trip for 5th graders, and I'd never got the chance to go to the Capitol ever in school despite it being an hour closer where I grew up (same state). He was crushed, which made things worse! We tried to work with the school but ended up pulling him. The school we put him in for 6th grade lost finding and closed, so I was given my son's physical file for the next school. Turns out the principal/director or some other higher up had listed my son was AUTISTIC and had some anger and compulsion disorder in order to get STATE FUNDING even after he was at the new school for the rest of 5th grade! He got Spec Ed testing, but they never read us the results despite appointments scheduled. At 15, he got DXed as ADHD, which makes sense cause his dad and I both have it, too. We chased our tails on a KNOWINGLY FALSE diagnosis because of education fraud! F that school to WELL! Worst part for me: Coach C was leaving the open house at school at the same time I was. She looked busy, so I said I'd check in later. She'd moved, but we were still friendly. Unfortunately, she died before I ever could, and I hate that I didn't get a chance to show her I loved her. 😭 Story 2 Minor Triger for 🍇 My high school was pretty scandal free from my perspective. We're a very religious state and area, so it prob helped. Worst I knew about was a girl that got gRaped by her uncle and got pregnant. My mom just happened to work at the young parents' school so we stayed in touch. One time, after biology, I told my mom how one of the student's dad was in class. He had shown me how electricity worked on muscles by making them twitch on a few students. He did so by putting what I can only describe as an internal TENZ unit with probes you'd insert in my arm, other's arms, and random ankles or legs. I thought it was cool, but my mom flipped out! I didn't know it at the time, but she called the principal and freaked out. He tried to put her off and ignore her, but again, she worked for the district, so he couldn't just make her go away. Mom filed a complaint at the district level, and was told they were "monitoring the situation." I never knew what that meant, and no one ever called us on it. 2 or 3 years later, my sister was getting ready to graduate from the same school. One day, she sees our congregation leader come in to talk to the principal. He worked as a police officer as our church positions were voluntary and unpaid. It wasn't unusual as his son went to the school too. 45 minutes later, after the next class, sister saw the cop walking principal and his secretary out of the school. Not cuffed, but definitely being escorted out with intent. Turns out, the principal was embezzling from the vending machines, which reported over $1,000 a DAY in PROFITS (among other harder to track supplemental funds). The secretary was helping him cover it up because (I believe) they were having an affair. The funds were paying for it. It was early 2000s, so I couldn't find any articles on it, but they were fired, and I think both did a settlement to avoid jail. Others were arrested and fired, too. 2 years later, my high school got a new tennis court, brand new desks, and a brand new computer lab at the school, among other things. Amazing what you can pay for when you don't steal from CHILDREN to fund your "REXY times!"

Multiple incidents in my school but one time in high school, I left class to go to the bathroom. Didn't really have to go, just wanted to get out of class. I was the only one in the hallway. There was a trail of blood... not droplets, a literal trail. I followed it upstairs, it got worse as I went. I followed it to a locker that had blood on it. Turned out one of the resident bullies punched a guy so hard he broke his jaw. That guy isn't a bully anymore and seems like a decent adult, but he does MMA now haha Another incident involves a guy getting set on fire. I'll tell that one if someone asks lol

Obligatory not me, but my dad when he was a teacher. He used to wrestle in either high school or college, and when he started teaching Shop Class, the only rule the principal had for him was "Don't let it roll out into my halls", which is fair enough. So one day, dad was teaching and some kid who was essentially Sid from Toy Story kept being loud and obnoxious. And given that this was either in the seventies or eighties, dad got away with this. So dad finally has enough and goes over to the kid, gets him by his collar, and drags him over to the leaky sink in the classroom. He gets the kid in a headlock and holds him under the faucet so that the water slowly and repeatedly drips into the kid's nose. I was the quiet kid who just kept my head down when I went to school two decades after that. I guess I take more after mom. 🤣

Grammar school. A beloved teacher passed away the night before because of Cancer. I came to school late. I walked to my classroom and everyone was crying. I hanged up my bookbag and coat. I sat down. I was in shock but not in tears. That teacher and I weren't close. So, I couldn't feel a thing. I think it was 2 days of grieving for the upper classes.

My school went on lockdown because a bull had escaped the cattle market and wasn't far from the school. I don't know why they thought building a massive cattle market right next to a high school was a good idea but at least I was in a class I liked (teacher was a family friend and mum taught his eldest daughter piano for a while).

Grammar school. This guy in my 8th grade ran his mouth about bringing a firearm to school. I didn't hear it. My teacher pulled me out of class to ask me if that "friend" said anything to me about bringing a firearm. No. And that's the truth.
