I've flown on a 737-200 before. They were short, but still felt like a modern, large airliner, unlike all the small commuter twins of today. Never had the privilege of riding on a 747, but I have flown on the MD-80, DC-10, 757, L1011, 727 (both 100 and 200), 717, Fokker F-100, A-310, Canadair CRJ, and a slew of twin turboprops too long to mention. My favorites were the 757 and L1011. Never ridden at such a high deck angle during climb out as the 757 and enjoyed the Rolls Royce fan growl of it and the Lockheed immensely. I miss the 727. Aviation is too tame and homogeneous today. They perfected it and made it boring.

Should we reconsider four or even three engine planes?Maybe three engine planes can come back maybe as engine testers because rolls roys could use the DC 10 or MD 11 or what ever plane that is a trijet just maybe there could be a new market for trijets.
@AdrianCubed4 жыл бұрын
No, why would the industry reconsider 3 engines when 2 engines are capable of doing the job. Adding a third engine is more R&D, more weight, more complications, more maintenance, added cost to operate, and burns more fuel. The cost just cannot justify going back to 3 engines when 2 engines can do it already. (and with the 777 and 787 both aircraft can fly with 1 engine in emergency).

There’s one thing this video definitely got wrong: the ATR-42 is shorter than the EMB135, at 74 feet long. But can it be considered the shortest airliner? Well...maybe, but then you have to consider operations like Cape Air or Nantucket or Mokulele, which fly passenger routes in even smaller planes like Cessna Caravans or PC-12’s or Beech King Airs-planes that make the EMB135 look huge by comparison. So what can truly be considered to be the smallest airliner? Good question, but I’ll argue that the Embraer is too big for that title.
