You say this on the assumption that husbands (or whatever) are physically and emotionally absent for the duration of the pregnancy. I don't know what your or those that think like you experienced, but a (good) husband provides much need emotional support, assistance, and comfort for their wives while they're carrying a baby. It's a team effort, so while a birth gift is definitely not a bad thing as a gesture of gratitude, but expecting one shouldn't be the case.

A birth gitft is litterally a gift of thanks for giving birth. It could be anything as song as its thoughtful (trips, jewlery, flowers etc). But being given stretchmark cream is hella insulting to a woman because think about it....She just gave birth her, body has been though hell and back for 9 months and the changes arent over just yet and the first thing she recives from her partner is a tube of cream that supposed to get her back to the way she was before the baby (visually at least). C'mon no woman wants to think thats whats on her partners mind. might make her feel unattractive. Some women dont even live to see their children, some go through depression, other are just tired. Better to give her nothing but space when she wants it and be hyper attentive to both her and the baby because she could easly lose track of taking care of herself while caring for a baby that was easily in her womb getting all it needed.

I'm a month late to this conversation, but it sounds like you guys don't even know what stretch marks are, if you're saying you can't "see anything for 6 weeks" and "she's not even thinking about *that* two days after giving birth." But obviously you two are. Stretch marks are marks on the stomach typically, it has nothing to do with sex or the vagina. Imagine if you ran an ultramarathon, finished in first place, and your prize was a tube of athlete's foot cream. That would be bad; stretch mark cream is exponentially more insulting, because it says, "Hey, you look like shit. Rub this on your belly to look sexy for me again." EFF THAT.

A push present is for a man to show his appreciation for her almost losing her life for his child.
