Think of all that the Beastie Boys have done - all three of those guys are serious musical legends/pioneers. Kathleen probably paved the way for others more than breaking ground. I suspect Ad-Rock isn't being cocky, but seriously, he knows what he and his bandmates have done. I think that was just an honest reaction.

For those who aren't old enough to understand, though all three of these people are old, Dan Rather is so old that he was already old back when Bikini Kills was first together, and so hearing him talk about them touring is kind of surreal for someone my age. In the '90s it would have been Matt Pinfield interviewing them on MTV, not Dan Rather on CBS or anywhere else for that matter. To put it into perspective, Dan Rather had been married for 24 years by the time I was born, and was only seven weeks from 50!!!

I’m seeing Bikini Kill next week with my best friend- the very same one who listened to riot grrrl with me all those years ago. This is so fitting. Giving the queen the respect she deserves.

Actually, I had Dish network for a while, and discovered the AXS channel, and saw a few of Dan Rathers music / rock interviews - Especially the Rush - Geddy Lee interview in particular.. And it seems, Dan Rather has always had an interest in music, modern bands, and such. Apparently was pretty 'hip' when he wasn't presenting the evening news. They are very in depth, and thoughtful interviews. And, definitely worth checking out. Especially, if it's with a member of the Beastie Boys ! I'm all in, one of my favorite bands, of all time. RIP MCA 😞
