I believe that you have misunderstood how the thumpers work. Unlike in Dune, thumpers repel worms rather than attract them. As long as you stand inside the radius, you will not be attacked. With two or more thumpers, you can leapfrog around the ice completely negating the ice worms, at the cost of a lot of extra walking. In addition, I have found it helpful when making bases to drop a thumper with an ion battery in the area I'm working.

If that is how they are supposed to work, then that is different than during Early Access. When they were first introduced, they were to draw the attention of the Ice Worms to them as I showed on livestreams when testing them at that time. If that was changed, then it still doesn’t work that way 100%, as the second test round with a thumper had it being attacked by an Ice Worm just seconds after I walked out of the circle. The thumpers are just not functional the way they should be.

@@MrSpicyGaming That's fascinating. I was not in early access, and I play on ps4, but I have never seen an ice worm pop out inside the radius of an active thumper. They will occasionally emerge just outside the line and try to swipe at me, though. In terms of speedy traversal, when not needing a drill, I actually like the snowfox plus a thumper. As soon as you get knocked off, drop the thumper, repair the fox, pick up the thumper and head on your way. Of course, if for you thumpers aren't driving the ice worms away, that strategy doesn't work so well.

Prawn suit side hop so freaking op in land that you don't need the snowfox anymore. + gives you heat

I feel like it is a bit strange that the snowfox triggered, as is it hovering. Also annoying that it stops when the worm comes out.

At first glance it feels like the snowfox shouldn't trigger as it hovers. But to add some real life logic of a helecoptor during low hover. Then, even though the vibrations in the ground would less than a prawn suit walking. Vibrations would still be felt from rotor blades force on the ground. I would say from personal experiance that a helecoptor would be between walking and the prawn, so I would imagine that the snowfox would be a bit more that walking. Just my thoughts.

@@Delphinus-Keya Yeah,. but promotional material it makes it look like you'd be able to use the Snowfox to outrun it, and that's what I thought we would be doing. It was quite quite the opposite and it quickly became underwhelming once I realized that wasn't the case and the Ice Worm went to scary to very annoying VERY quickly.

Don’t underestimate the Prawn suit speed. When equipped with jump jet and 2 grappling hook upgrades, it is super fast it can even outrun Leviathans. I first tried it in Subnautica and find out that when used correctly, a Prawn suit can move faster than a Seamoth. Besides with 2 Grappling hooks, Prawn suit movement is kind of unpredictable left and right. Leviathan has no chance catching it.

the prawn suit really is the best option in hardcore, cant afford to take any damage to the player, whereas I can always just repair my prawn suit

The easiest way: just run/drive through everything, ignoring the ice worms.

Just hug the sides of the canyons and/or maintain a constant forward walk/run is the best solution. Heck, I never had any trouble with them and I walked through the glacial area and never used the snowfox at all. The Snow Stalkers are more of a threat but only if you literally sit still. Ditto for the Ice worm. Also anyone notice that the Art work for the Ice worm in the loading screens shows it being able to go underwater as well? Why was this feature cut in-game? They would be far more intimidating if they could chase underwater as well as on land.

I think a cool idea there could have done was just make one of these that wonders around the map under water and that could hide under the ground so if it sees you it would up out and try and bite you.

I use the Prawn Suit with a Grappling Arm and just swing around them like Spider-Man.

The Ice Worms looked so cool in early preview videos from the devs... but in-game they are SO underwhelming. Honestly, the increase of on-land gameplay in SBZ was a turn-off and reduced immersion from the swimming/diving/risky experiences of OG Subnautica.

My f*cking heart nearly exploded as the ice worm hunted me down like a monster right after I had an fight with a snow stalker that didn't even walk away like all the things in subnautica but I needed to kill it and then I needed to run for my life if this isn't terrifieing then there's something wrong with you.

@@kekskruemel05 ice worm is the coolest concept for subnautica. A leviathan who attacks on land, but yet cannot be seen. But they made him extremely broken, when riding a snowfox you'll automatically exit it each time the worm appears. Sometimes he won't hit you, and his spawn rate seems to be randomaized. Like you'll either meet him 2 or 3 times for the entire section, or it will appear every few seconds not allowing you to casually ride on your snowfox. In early access he worked as an actual enemy, unlike final release where it is just animations with a few scripts. It's honestly sad to see that ice worm was supposed to be the reaper of BZ, but instead became a broken mini boss for one section you never need to return to :(

I just went through that area and used the prawn suit and it was all fine but the ice worm dose like 25 damage to the prawn suit so bring a reaper tool

Fun fact: the repair tool glitch still works on the prawn suit so you can be invincible to the ice worm just watch out when the prawn suit energy dies

Another creature I think is inspired by another movie in below zero is the brute shark because it has a similar head structure and look to the tao tei from the great wall. It may just be me but go compare the two aliens together see what you think.

@@Visoloog missed opportunities. ice worm for example COULD have been one of the best and most unique leviathans in the series, but instead it is a scripted event that does not offer anything new besides "land leviathan"

Below zero is even better than subnautica. Even if it wasn't, it can't be compared. Just look at it like if it was 2 diffrent games from 2 diffrent editors. Peoples would have been way nicer !
