Brandon this episode was really well done. I’m a young 59, ex military … gym guy, fit, and take care of my skin etc. I take your outfit suggestions and apply my age and sometimes take as is or make a slight modification to make it age appropriate. What’s interesting is I receive a lot of comments about my clothing and specifically around tops and shoes/sneaks. You are very good at what you do. Btw suitsupply is a perfect option for me. Keep up the great work!! Best, Jeff
@BrandonBalfourАй бұрын
Love to hear that Jeff! You’re around the same age as my dad, it’s quite humorous because I give my dad a lot of clothes and sneakers and it’s the first time he’s ever received compliments on his outfits as well haha.

@@BrandonBalfour Brandon just an idea … I’m wondering the different age groups that follow you. It would be an interesting question for you to ask. One of the things I’m always aware of is if what I’m wearing is age appropriate. For example there are actually items at A&F etc. that work for a guy my age.. not a lot but some items. I find that after you mentioned suitsupply that they are generally good for all age groups, and their clothing is exceptionally well made and a great value. I also find J&M is great and I often see all age groups shopping there recently .. kind of between your “smart shopping” to “premium picks” category. Thanks again Brandon. Everyone who has the money can buy obviously whatever they want. But let’s not forget that the price ranges from this video are so far away from what the average people can spend on the clothes…
@dbest8083Ай бұрын
It's also important to think about when you buy things: if you shop at depatment stores a lot, it's worth it to buy summer clothes at the start of fall and winter clothes once spring comes in: usually stores try to clear out old stock to make room for the new collections that will be coming in next season. I got myself two pretty nice polos for a combined 12€ because I bought it during a clearout.
@PietervdvАй бұрын
As for the leather section: I partly agree. It's ok to splurge on that if the money goes to leather quality and craftsmanship. If it goes to big labels, that would be a mistake. For instance: I bought some Aero Leathers jackets that are handmade to measure, using the best (Horween) leather. Those are timeliness and durable and will only get better over the years.

The best way to upgrade your denim is to stalk your local consignment and curated thrift stores. Go into a thrifty menswear store and be honest with the workers that you are looking for some premium denim!!! I have multiple levi red labels, a pair of carhartt jeans, and a few pairs from the 50’s that fit me perfect!! It’s a joy to find the exact style and well made pieces for a more affordable price!
@wholesome7076Ай бұрын
No glaze you're the best fashion KZbinr there is. If I could suggest a video idea it'd be to make an extensive wardrobe checklist guide (i.e. most essential items to cop (good trousers, sweaters, shoes etc. + other things you need e.g. leather bag + things that are a bit extra but still worth investing into e.g. accessories). I know there is one already but I think a longer / more complete version with a tierlist (to prioritize) that includes price details would be wayyyy better (side note : in my mind when I am spending money I'm thinking about it in terms of hours that it takes me to earn said money, so say total cost of a top tier wardrobe is 5k I think the average viewer would visualize it way better). Sorry for the long winded, sort of chaotic comment, your content is top tier :)

I think the first think you have to check is material, on Denim actually not all denim is denim as it is too usual to see % of elastan and that will be a problem on the future, or a Merino sweater that when you check the composition is 52% Merino and 48% cotton, etc.
@damnfreakingsien14 күн бұрын
This is a great list that I agree with mostly. I don’t use duffel bags, but it’s definitely worth spending on a good timeless bag instead of switching bags once they break every year. Pretty much lines up with how I buy my clothes.

7:55 "Genuine Leather" is the second worst of the five tiers of leather. If you're investing in a leather bag (which, I would argue, is actually kind of a bad idea; canvas is more practical if you're travelling. Leather is okay if you're only going from car->office.), then you should look for full grain leather.

LV canvas lasts for 10 years plus and still looks like new...I don't care what the manufacturer costs are, but surely not 20$. Also your T-shirts get ruined fast because you spend 30$ on them, try something else for a change. I have T-Shirts for over 5-8 years which look like new.

Honestly you said that someone would say this.. but I find very good quality denim at a price point of around $200-$300. There are all kinds of denim, and with denim along with all other fabrics you have to consider the fibers that they make the yarn from for the fabric as well as the construction of that fabric. That being said. I’ve found that denim that has 0% Lycra /elastane (non-stretch denim) to be of higher quality and longer lasting than denim that incorporates spandex. Then you have to consider the weight of the denim. This is measured in GSM or grams per square meter, and a good thick pair of denim, 500 gsm+ is just harder to find until you start looking into luxury brands. Now I’m saying this as someone who spends more on fashion, because it’s what I enjoy, just like other people enjoy going out to eat, traveling, or whatever I like fashion and fitness and that’s where I choose to invest. That being said this list is spot on… I think the denim could be in Smart spending though.

Denim is absolutely not just denim. Denim isn't a material, it's a stitching pattern. There is a wide variety of different qualities of denim, and on top of that, denim is one of the trousers where silhouette is often prioritized, and better designs are often more expensive. I wouldn't spend below $70 on jeans personally, they probably won't last, but I could definitely see myself spending $200 on a nice pair of jeans. I would say it's pretty firmly in smart spending

Hi, I live in Europe. The hybrid knit cardigan from many brands in store or online on sale is a bargain, so $30+, not $300+. Boots, many, many online stores sell premium leather boots for 100-120 euros or maybe less. Loafers also. Polo shirts, what a joke, premium like Zegna for 120 euros, not to mention Joop, Lacoste, Polo, Tommy etc., even though any polo shirt is not worth more than 30 euros. Only Canada Goose-Moncler style puffer, leather travel bag, well tailored suit cannot be found easily for a cheaper price. So, I am sorry that you have to spend so much money on stuff that has much lower price in Europe. Nice video by the way :)
