In a podcast/ interview the creators had to come in and say the reason Korra could airbend was because Amon didn’t see her airbending pathway when he took her bending because “it wasn’t active” that’s honestly laziest excuse and the worst writing I’ve heard in such a long time. Great video!

I think the best answer for what the Avatar's origins should've been was simply the reincarnated spirit of the Earth, which is why they can bend all the elements and why they need to keep the balance.
@6thgraderfriends
@6thgraderfriends Жыл бұрын
It would also make why killing the avatar permanently should be a bad idea, because if the spirit of the planet dies, then logically it would appear as though the planet itself dies. Like killing the moon spirit fish makes the moon disappear, I feel like the same thing would happen.

@@6thgraderfriends RIGHT! I’ve seen many people say they hated the good 𝗩𝗦 evil (Raava 𝗩𝗦 Vaatu) and at first I was like “well it isn’t that bad,” until I realize that in the original show, the reincarnation being left unknown was better to the plot. Although many people like/enjoyed Wan’s story in season 2, after watching it again I found it lackluster. The issue I think was that they made Wan very similar to Korra instead of having him be his own character. Imagine if we found out the very first Avatar wasn’t a good person but by the end of his journey he would mellow out into a morally grey character. He could have been prophesied to bring balance to the world. Raava could have been a spirit that was sent to find someone for that balance the world would need. Let’s say that the harmonic convergence would then be an already existing thing but not Vaatu, Vatuu would be a manifestation of darkness not exactly an evil person but morally grey. Raava could have want internal peace but because of Wan’s inner conflict there would be Vaatu (who is always present but not a visible force) forming. Then after the harmonic convergence and Wan doing something fucked up, it would bring the world to lowkey dismay ending his portion with him being the need of the Avatar. If season 2 was the fourth season, let’s say that Kuvira would try looking for Vatuu and whatever would happen it would start a new gen of avatar where both the “dark” and “light” avatars would forever reincarnate and after so many go through with this Gen, they would somehow find out how to make the avatar as we all know and love. Basically after thinking and typing all of this out I have come to realized that it’s just better for the original lore of avatar to stay and should have stayed.

Ya know what they should’ve done? Make Amon the ultimate bad guy they’re really leading up too with every season having those other villains sprinkled in. But in the background Amon’s the one pulling all strings and we only get quick glimpses/foreshadowing of him and his backstory. So that when the final season happens and he’s revealed (maybe he’s a final season 3 reveal leaving us on a cliffhanger) all the viewers are like, “HOLT SHIT!! THIS WAS THE DUDE EVERYONE KEPT TALKING ABOUT?? HE DOESN’T HAVE BENDING COULD HE BE TAI-LEE’S LOST GRANDCHILD-OMFG! BITCH HAS BLOOD BENDING!! Isfbwmdgkw!” IDFK it would’ve been something at least. Lol. I never liked LoK I literally quit when they gave everyone airbending. 😂😂 Love the essay!

I like your critique of the villains, and agree that Kuvira is the worst and Amon the best, but I would have to put the red-lotus over Unalaq. Not because they were more interesting or compelling; the red-lotus were simply scarier. I think it was the emphasis on their prisons and the warnings the adults gave Korra that made me fear them. While making a villain interesting is important, they need to poses and actual emotional threat to the hero. I didn’t feel a sense of dread whenever Unalaq was onscreen, but I did with Zaheer. I knew something was going to happen because the tone was so foreboding. With Vaatu and Unalaq I knew they weren’t going to succeed in taking over the world. The removal of the other avatars was a nice touch to their intimidation, but the finale was hard to enjoy because of all the deus ex machinas. So it was probably less about the red-lotus and more about the feelings that surrounded them that made me like them more. Of course this is just my opinion and I’d be happy to discuss :)

I've always thought a good idea for Korra would be to have the first season go exactly as it does but don't give Korra he bending back so easily. Aang can still show up and energy bend her but all that does is gives her access to the Avatar State and allows her to bend again but now she has to re learn how to bend each element. The second season would be about her relearning the other 3 elements and along the way learning to be a better Avatar, one who isn't so quick tempered and out of control but still as driven and passionate as she's always been. The 3rd season would have her learning and mastering the Avatar State, this would be perfect because of the Red Lotus showing up and she'll need that power to face them. She can still be defeated and wheelchair ridden but there's a bit more hope in her now. Now she's motivated to get better, recover, and continue her training because the world still needs the Avatar. And then of course season 4 brings in Kuvira and poses the ultimate question. Does this world still need the Avatar? I imagine this would be similar to the movie Captain America Civil War in that Korra would bring up all the good she's done as the Avatar but Kuvira rebuttals this with all the damage, destruction, and death that's been caused as well and that she plans to expand her Empire to create a world safe, free, and most of all, in no need of an Avatar. Korra of course will prove her wrong throughout the season and realize herself that being the Avatar does mean that things will get messy, sometimes people will get hurt, sometimes they might even die, but if there were no Avatar at all then things would be so catastrophically worse and the world would never recover from it. So yeah, that's my personal rewrite for Avatar: The Legend of Korra.

Here’s my takes on lok going by seasons: Season 1: the best season in my opinion purely because of two things: Amon and Tenzhin.Amon was the best villan the show had because as you say he made sense and was a genuine threat. I liked the fact that before the bender reveal that a non-bender who was oppressed decided to rise up against benders as it makes sense with how benders treat non-benders as less than them (the only problem with this concept for lok is that they don’t show the issue that Amon and the equalists are fighting against) Tenzhin was also a personal favorite because I felt like he had a solid personality and backstory. I would have loved to see a show with just him as there so much that could be done with the concept of being the last air bender after aang dies, his duty vs love, and how he keeps the air nomad culture alive. Season 2: I liked the beginning half with the civil war plot line and how characters like zuko call Korra out (side note don’t like how the writers handled the old cast at all like they mention sokka once in season 1) that as the avatar she can’t get involved and use her status to just fix one nations personal struggles. Hated what they did to the spirits. The spirts were these mystical but dangerous forces of nature not these ghibli background characters and the ones in black and red eyes must be evil. Also hated how they made the bending Orgins coming from and the avatar state from just a long line of reincarnation, to just be lion turtles and white good carpet is inside you to beat evil black carpet. Season 3: I just did not care about anyone or anything in this season. I will never get over how zaheer was able to become this powerful air bender by only reading about air nomad techniques and just knowing that one day he will get air bending. Season 4: Literally has old homey cars, radios and tv but they have the power to create giant robots of destruction? Also can we talk about how they almost let the fire nation take over the earth kingdom again? Or how Korra just let the world figure out what to do with this influx of spirits and all the destruction from the gundamd without the avatar? TLDR: could have been a good show if it wasn’t a squeal and was a thousand years later, had nothing to do with the previous cast, and just expanded the lore not change it.

The villains are: Amon pretty cool but breaks the bloodbending lore without a good explenation. Unalaq the obvious and boring bad guy who then went full mega evil asshole by unironicaly wanting to be the dark avatar. Zaheer pretty cool but has some more pretentious moments and edgynes. Kuvira a fire lord Ozai clone who we are then supposed to feel bad about because her parents left her. Hiroshi Sato a generic villain that is basically forgotten for 2 seasons and is kinda redemed. The luitenat a good fighter with a slick mustasch but zero personality. Tarrlok a slimy obviously corrupt fella without most of Amons coolnes. Yakone a maybe even worse father than Ozai somehow. Vaatu mister im a evil kite muahahaha. Varrick mister exentrick bad guy that is too likabel to not bee redemed. Ghazan a actually nice guy and chad don't at me. Ming-hua a less psycotic Azula. Pl'i a combustion man clone with little to no personality. Aiwei mister I have a weird nose ring so im bad also aparently gay for some reason. Hou-ting just kind of a cunt. Bataar jr a bit of a whiny guy but still not the worst in the show. Plus more minor ones not worth mentioning.

35:16-At least couples had better set ups for their love stories like Alphen X Shionne from Tales of Arise, Tidus X Yuna from Final Fantasy 10, Clive X Jill from Final Fantasy 16, Sly X Carmelita from Sly Cooper, Denji X Reze/Asa from Chainsaw Man, Loid X Yor from Spy X Family, Akira X Shizuka from Zom 100 Bucket List of the Dead, Kaneki X Touka from Tokyo Ghoul, Trevor X Sypha from Castlevania and Inuyasha X Kagome as well as Mikoru X Sango. Tokyo Ghoul: Chapter 125 of the Re Manga was great not only because we get to see Touka naked and getting knocked up by Kaneki, but it's a great story of how these two have finally gotten together and spend the night together after all that they've been through. Touka has grown from a stubborn and insecure girl into a caring woman whose supportive of Kaneki and is willing to help out him in his time of need. Chainsaw Man: Denji has better romance with both Reze and Asa. His first romance with Reze was just one arc, but their time together was great because this was the first time Denji had a girlfriend of his own and is finally understanding love. With his second romance with Asa had a lot more chapters to flesh these two out as a couple with Asa finally finding a boy to spend the rest of her days with while Denji has finally found love again after his first relationship with Reze went wrong. Spy X Family: Sure Loid and Yor's marriage was fake, but the more they spent time together, the more the two slowly began to fall for one another. Zom 100 Bucket List of the Dead: Chapter 57 was the greatest story ever as the last chapter left off with Akira sobbing after Shizuka chose to stay with a doctor she just met. He was about to be eaten alive by a horde of Zombies when Shizuka came to his aid. She told Akira that she chose to stay with the gang because she cares more about them than being with some doctor. As the two were surrounded by the horde after reaching a dead end, Akira and Shizuka confessed their feelings for one another and finally kissed. Inuyasha: Both romances between Inuyasha X Kagome and Miroku X Sango were great. Sure the entire anime was long, but at least the two couples slowly develop feelings for each other and changed into better people. Inuyasha went from an arrogant and selfish half demon to a guy who cares about his friends, all because of Kagome. Before Miroku met Sango, he was a crooked monk who flirts with women and scam people out of their money. But when he fell for Sango, he loved Sango more than any other women. Sure he still has his con artist habits, but at least he was doing it to provide for his family. Castlevania: Trevor And Sypha's romance was great. At the start of the series, he was a drunk loner who just lost everything and doesn't give a crap about the world. But as he spent more time with Sypha, Trevor became more and more involved in fighting off the demons and vampires. Sure Sypha started to become more foul mouthed and idiotic like the man she was sleeping with, but she knew that Trevor needed a companion so he wouldn't feel lonely. The romances in Legend of Korra are nothing but soap opera crap we've seen a lot in tv.

Surprised you didn't mention how ridiculous it was that they cut her off from all the past avatars?? like power built up and formed for generations, thousands of years just all thrown out and wasted. the avatar state wasn't strong because it just boosted her "power level" it was imbuing her with all the knowledge and skill of the past avatars. she is technically the weakest of all avatars before her just because of that. besides bending all 4 elements half of what makes the avatar the avatar was the reincarnations and past lives... that was just such a lame thing to do

Similarly I ended up preferring Korra as a character than Aang, especially in the third and fourth season of Korra. The show has many flaws, but it ended up suiting my preferences much more than ATLA, and I think the topics it was trying to cover was more up my alley and, therefore, intriguing. I sort of disagree on your criticism of astral projection. It's a little bit too good in what it does, I agree, and Jinora is a random genius. But astral projection is as decoupled from airbending as healing is from waterbending. You can draw some loose thematic connections (air/breath and spirit, water and life manipulation) but both of those abilities are not natural extensions of their respective bendings. I can't shake off an impression, that if ATLA introduced astral projection and LOK introduced healing, I would be listening to an anti-healing rant right now xp

You bring up an interesting point, but I think there are two differences. 1.) The body is mostly water, so while I agree that healing with water is a loooong shot, it still has something that links the two ideas together. 2.) Had Aang learned Astral projection... Well I said in my video I would have been fine if Korra learned it because she's the Avatar. I probably would have accepted it as just an Avatar perk if it wasn't Jinora who learned it. That being said, I obviously can't guarantee those would be my feelings if the two we're switched. It's possible I would hate healing more if it came from LoK. Thanks for your comment!

The reason why Jenorah could do what she did. Astral projection. It's because the Air Nomads are the most spiritual of all the elemental benders. It's why every baby born from an Air Nomad is always going to be an airbender. They changed that in korra and I hated them for doing it. Every single child of Aang's should have been an airbender. And because of the Air Nomads' spiritual training that goes along with their airbending training, they would be the most spiritual of all the elemental benders. Given their need for spiritual detatchment, it makes sense for Astral Projection to be an ability they can do.

My frustration with the show is less the villians or build up, but how quick they introduce a concept just to abandon it half assedly. Amon and the Equalists are probably the prime example of introducing the idea of the equalist movement: how non benders hold opportunity and power they don't and it can be used to against them. There's sympathetic anxiety to be had there. Major wars are fought with largely bender forces, and the climaxes of ATLA revolve around depowering or overpowering with bending (the lunar eclipse in S1, the Solar Ecplise in S3 and of course the ticking clock of Sozens Comet). And there can be a discussion on non bending escalations (the tanks, war balloons, the drill, etc) but the raw power of bending elements does carry a lot of responsibility and abuse. Instead of examining this perspective, the equalist POV is drawn up in the show as people who just unjustly whinge about bending and do a terrorism about it. Bending as introduced is a pretty spiritual and personal thing, connecting people to their culture, landscapes, spirits and nature. When their bending is removed in LoK the focus is around how powerless they feel (which is a self report on how benders do have more privileges/power) And we never hear an honest opinion of the equalists with Amon becoming The Liar Reveal (villian edition) which further discredits all other equalists so we can beat the fuck out of this strawman we've made. And once Amon is gone we just never have to worry about putting any wrinkles on our brains about that movements ideology or its sincerity or our own preconceptions, because we did it guys the bad man is dead. And they just do this over and over. We could have had a great story about modernity vs. tradition, how technology changes our identity in a world so close to nature and spirits, the merits, consequences and balance of industrialization, or themes about the fairly fresh new democracy in Republic City and what that means in other cultures transitioning. Instead we got the Legend of Korra, which, her legend seems to be, in no particular order: the Avatar that reintroduces spirits but let's everyone fend for themselves to figure out coexistence, the avatar that ends all Avatar Cycles, the girl who got beaten a LOT in the shows runtime, something about a love triangle, how she's a non agent in a lot of the story with the antags just kinda self implode a lot, hollow queerbait and she won bending sport or whatever. At it's best maybe it was a good show for like rowdy teens and how aimlessness life feels sometimes? But was 18 when it aired and I didn't feel very seen but maybe that's just me. Some of the side characters that eclipse Korra, namely Tenzin and Lin were worthwhile but it's not supposed to be their story. As far as themes i can take away from LoK, I have nothing except be rich business person technology robot go brrrr, and don't get heavy metal poisoned kids 👍

I agree Amon was the best villain, but he could have been A LOT better. They should have stayed with him being a non-bender and the burns from a bender on his face should have been real. His back story was a good start but should have been more extreme having him in the family he grew up in and a blood bending father and brother that tormented him would give him a stronger motivation for seeing bending as an impurity. He should have run away from the abuse only to encounter other benders that were terrible toward him. In his wanderings, he should have developed a deep spiritual connection with natural world as an escape from the abuse. At some point, he should have somehow connected to the lion turtles and been given energy bending as Aang was given and also a connection to Vatu that would be awakened at harmonic convergence - it would have given the foreshadowing sorely missing from season 2. (Rava and Vatu should have stood for order vs. chaos, not good vs. evil, but that is another rant). Amon over the series should have grown into the freedom/chaos avatar and been a foil to Korra. It would have helped greatly in fleshing out the origin story of the Avatar cycle and if by the end they could have found a new balance. Korra as the peace/order avatar opening the spirit portals made no sense. Imagen if Whan had locked Vatu away as was seen in the series, but Amon realized the mistake and opened the portals and that had set up the mess Korra had to navigate, but by the end she realized it was the part that was needed. Also Korra should have just had air bending for a long time and then gain a greater spiritual connect and went back to the animals that taught bending to get her elements back and only accessed the Avatar state at the very end of the series in a final show down with Amon.
@gjmottet
@gjmottet 5 ай бұрын
Another way that Amon could have been created that would have fit better and been a crazy plot twist would have been Aang being under the mask. He was the only one with energy bending after all so it makes sense that he would be there the next time bending was being taken. Taking bending with blood bending makes no sense since chakras are not blood and something spiritual. What if Rava had rejected Aang because Aang had created republic city and was bringing too much change to the world so Aang did not actually die when the new avatar was born and that is why Korra could bend everything except air from the start, but Aang held onto air which is why she could not access it. We already know Aang thinks for himself and has chosen connections like to Katara over what he is supposed to do as the avatar. Lets say Aang realizes that non-benders are being oppressed and tries to fix the problem. At some point he makes a speech where he says he is everyone's avatar so the lady imploring Korra with "you're our avatar too" really meant something and was not just a throw away line. There is a terrible back lash to Aang suggesting treating non-bender with respect and ending systematic non-bender oppression. At some point Aang decides to live in the slums of non-bender and becomes connected to them, but in doing so he obligates his responsibilities and brings chaos which Rava can not stand for so she leaves him prematurely to reincarnate (Aang died very young so this fits in well for him to not actually die and be motivated to fix the societal problems that bending has caused). Something like this makes sense if Rava wants peace and order instead of just being good. Too much peace and order can be a bad thing and result in a caste system like bender opposition or secret polices or not taking action when the fire nation was on the rise before the 100 year war and other atrocities caused by past avatars. By the end, Aang would be the one to bring Vatu back into the world and both Rava and Vatu would fuss with Korra when Aang finally dies sacrificing himself to save the world and that is when Korra gets air bending and the avatar state. I like Amon, but the writers of the show did him dirty. They ruined him right at the end when they made his motivations a fake out and acting like he was an analogy for communism in a very over the top way when the world was so different from the one we live in that the equalist movement should have been something totally alien to something in our world. People in the avatar world really are born not equal to an extreme extent which is much more hardwired than wealth inequality so the analogy is much more loose. Still even if they were going to go that way they should have steel manned communism instead of just said communism bad and the leaders of the movement are liars and moved on the the next villain. So much potential lost.

I hate practically everything about the show, but actually liked Jinora. Mainly because I saw her as the product of Aang and Katara. Aang astral projected plenty so I kind of took it as she was close to Katara, who was extremely spiritual...and honestly I wished they'd kept the main characters as kids. My favorite moment of the show was Jinora and Kai rescuing baby sky bisons. Having a character related to both Katara and Aang being a prodigy didn't bother me, because most of the characters in the first show were prodigies. Did they rush it? Yes. Did they skip past moments instead of building them up? Also yes. The main characters did not feel close to me. I didn't like any of them. It felt like just a bunch of politics which took away from the magic of the show. Asami was the only main character I liked even slightly. The fact that they had to bash the old shows characters to give development to this shows characters really bothered me. Aang was an awful father who favored Tenzin. In what world would he get away with that? He's married to Katara! Top was a horrible mom who gave no consequences to her kids and cared more about her job. After her parents dropped her, why would she do the same to her kids? Especially with Sock and Katara, who value family to an extreme degree, in her life? Top is extremely disconnected from everything despite living where she can feel the entire world. Katara is there during the South Pole vs North Pole shenanigans and just sits back? She let the South Pole get like that? Katara should have been the Iroh of the show, but instead she just heals people??? They neutered their characters and I couldn't believe a word of it. I agree Amon should have been the big bad. They should of had to learn about blood bending and taking away bending from Katara. It should have taken until season 3 for her to tell the full story and how it worked. Amon should have learned it by studying Katara and Aang, and Katara should have been proactive in stopping him, while believing it was best the Avatar be the one to stop him. Season 1 should have been them floundering, learning to trust each other and rising together to face the threat. Season 2 Lin recruits Toph to teach them how to better fight chi blockers. Toph lets clues slip that Aang knew about this power and used it against the fire lord and that Katara and Zuko know more about it. Season 3 should have been them being sent to Katara by Zuko, them trying and failing to get answers from Katara with her just stating she swore never to touch that kind of bending ever again. That once you know you can never unknow with a very haunted look. They end up in trouble only to get saved by Katara, who gets injured rescuing them. Season 4 starts with her agreeing to teach how to combat blood bending/ taking away bending. She explains that it requires spiritual awareness, and to be trusted with the power by the lion turtle. Season 4 should be Korra having self reflection and connecting with her past lives, only to realize that Amon's power doesn't come from his own power, but from his manipulative skills. She does gain the power, but only uses it to return bending abilities to those who lost them and to revoke that power from Amon. She ends up in a huge spectacle of a fight in front of all of republic city, where she reveals the truth about him, and his true nature comes out, resulting in his followers shock and ends with Asami(Who should have been the Zuko) and Korra shaking hands and taking over Republic city. they make their own council, filled with both benders and non benders. Also Katara Zuko and Toph should be in charge of the white lotus...Especially Zuko....I just really hated this show.

While I do love strong characters, something about the way they handled Korra’s character arc just feels off to me. She makes a lot of dumb decisions at the expense of others and I don’t feel as though she ever really learns from that. I do agree that they tried to make her the polar opposite of Aang and I wonder if maybe that’s where they stumbled. I do like Korra to a point. She just doesn’t feel like a complete character to me. They didnt want to use the avatar themes but did it anyway and changed stuff for the bad. I like the secundary haracters more, like Lin or Varric or Tenzin. What i didnt like is how they treated the first show... Also, liked how Toph wasnt perfect BUT Aang being a bad father makes no sense and i think is such a sequel cliche and maybe some projection or self insert on the writers part. Not cool. For Toph they did it nicely, but they did Aang dirty... And most of the old characters were not used as characters, they were just there for 5 seconds so they could say "here you go, see? we are a sequel, keep watching" The exeption again being Toph

I like Kuvira as a character, but the narrative fails her so much. I don't blame you for not liking her. 1) We needed her backstory much sooner. 2) We needed to know her plans for the empire in order to determine exactly how evil she is for ourselves. 3) If she's supposed to be redeemable, why did they make her a fascist? You can't have both! 4) Since she is supposed to be redeemed in the end, what's her lesson after all of this? Where were her mistakes? What can she learn from her past? I don't know, there was a lot of potential but like with the rest of the show, the writers failed to make anything tangible with it.

47:07 I disagree that Korra needed to be more powerful. Even early Naruto showed that fights can be engaging when the protagonists use ✨strategy✨. Korra never does. For four seasons her fighting style stays as ‘hit the thing with bending until it stops moving’. She learns how to air bender dodge and never adds it to her fighting style. Same with the air scooters. She spends half a season in a metal bending city and adopts nothing from them. She never once tries to spirit bend people even though it’s something headstrong Korra would absolutely try. She gets healed by fire benders and shows no interest in it. She’s with Zuko for a while and never once has her firebending refined. Toph, at best, teachers her how to poisonbend and that’s it. It’d be fine if the rest of Team Avatar got power-ups and she didn’t if Korra had ever learned creativity (and even then Mako didn’t get anything since he always had lightning and Asami is… there).

As much as I agree that the romance in LoK can be poorly written and majorly frustrating, I don’t think you can really blame the writers for the how poorly Korrasami was in S4. The writers had a lot of restrictions placed on them by higher-ups which prevented them from making a canon LGBT couple explicit in the show. While the romance in LoK is (in my opinion) excessively contrived for the most part, I can still appreciate Korrasami as being fairly progressive for animation of the time, and paving the way for the better LGBT representation we get in animation today. Love your videos btw!

Some of my biggest issues with the show are Korra being mind numbignly stupid(she gets manipulated almost every season by Tarrlok, Unalaqq and Kuvira) Jinora’s stupid astral projection(I never liked how she could just go anywhere and even just walk around the real world, the only time that ever happened is when Aang was seperated from his physical body in the fight against Hei Bai. Also when going into the spirit world you go to the equivalent place in the spirit world to where you are physically but she can just go anywhere) they don’t stick to the rules they set up(like Korra airbending even after Raava got ripped out of her even though they just explained that the avatar could only bend other elements because of Raava, and how Korra can overpower Amon’s bloodbending even though the only thing even shown to allow you to resist bloodbending were by being a stronger water bender or by going into the Avatar state) and another stupid thing with Jinora is her getting her Tattoos(I think several times Jinora asks to get her tattoos but Tenzin says no that she’s not ready but then come the end of season 3 she just gets them despite not showing any increase in her knowledge or power in airbending. Tenzin doesn’t seem like the kind of guy to just not give Jinora tattoos just cause, if he wouldn’t give her the tattoos there was probably a reason so her just getting them after showing no growth is just stupid)

I don't think any villain was good honestly. Amon was my least favorite, though not the worst (that's Kuvira), because he's so overpowered without earning it. There is no balance to the power and it all ends so terribly. Motivations and LoK don't mix well. I'm surprised you hate Genora so much. She's one of my favorite characters BECAUSE she's not over explained or pushed down our throat. She's an embodiement of an idea, and that's okay, if a bit too poetic. I don't think you gave Bolin nearly enough hate. He's the most useless character in the series and a poor substitute for Sokka. There isn't a single thing he earns in the series. He gets a girlfriend that loves him unconditionally without so much as lifting a finger; he's dumb and makes mistakes constantly without learning from his flaws, yet he's still on the team; he learns a rare type of bending that is OP out of nowhere; he wastes the animation budget by simply existing instead of focusing on other more interesting character's development; he is completely useless battle wise until the aforementioned OP bending; he's annoying and doesn't grow as a character in the entire series except for the last moment when he decides he was easily manipulated to betray his friends by the most obvious evil manipulator. I could write a dissertation on my hate of Bolin, but everything else you got pretty right on. I will say, ruining Toph and Aang, and turning Zuko and Katara into useless husks of who they used to be would have been a good part of the video.
