They’re 44-51-8 at home since 2022. And this gm somehow survives it. The head coach is the head coach because New Jersey pays his salary. The young core of drafted players prefer losing to hard work. And it all adds up to a fanbase that shouldn’t pay a single cent to this franchise until it becomes a real franchise.
@jasoncrandall73Ай бұрын
The players drafted or signed since the "tank" initially began all wanted out. So since after GMTM/GMJB the Sabres have had to do another "rebuild". GMKA had to basically start over with a new core of players. Granato was not a good hire in the end. His transitional style of play led to quick effectiveness of many players. The team had winning records the last 2 seasons but failed to make the playoffs (even tho 1 season the Sabres came within 1 point). Under Granato the Sabres did not play a 2 way game or lacked physicality. This season Ruff is trying to instill a 2 way game into the Sabres DNA. GMKA did add more physicality & faster skaters to the roster this past offseason. Goaltending was also a issue ever since Ullmark left & finally UPL stepped up last season. The Sabres have had 6 1 goal losses during this current skid with 3 coming in OT/SO. Dahlin has been missing due to injury for about half the games. They did play a lot of the top Western Conference teams. Last season the Sabres had 1 3 game winning streak that finally occurred in February. This season they have had 3 so far. I had a feeling it might take Ruff about 41 games to straighten out the Sabres. He is benching players for poor play.

The main problem is that the younger forwards - Peterka, Quinn, Cozens, Krebs, Kulich, even Benson - aren't contributing enough offense. Peterka started the season fine, but has been MIA since early November. Guys like Malenstyn, Aube-Kubel and McLeod were brought in more for defensive ability or toughness than scoring, so the team was counting on those younger forwards to score. It hasn't happened, so stopping the top line means a team has a very good chance of beating the Sabres. As for Eichel, he didn't want to be here. He wasn't happy to be drafted by the Sabres and played that way for much of his time with the team. None of the players from that era that have moved on and won Cups did not play to that level in Buffalo for whatever reason.

"The team has a spiritual problem" This is a remarkable statement Why? 1. Its spot on and very close to the truth 2. I have not heard that distinction given to a sports team with as many problems as the Sabres have. The reality is, Adams was a terrible hire from the get go! He had no business being given the keys to the Kingdom with zero GM experience. I was so mad when Pegula made this decision. Sabres really need a bonafide Hockey GM who can come in and straighten out this team and put resources into the scouting department. The longer Pegula allows Adams to control the reins of this team, the worse its going to get. Going back to the spiritual problem again, even though I am Christian, I am a strong believer in karma and this team has some demons to exercise. First lets start with the a$$hole Larry Quin back in the day when the Sabres had John Muckler who essentially built the Stanley Cup teams of 90's, where Regier and Ruff took credit after running Muckler out of town. Then lets not forget the ownership problems with the Riga's fraud and the cheapness of Galisano era's. Then comes Pegula all teary eyed and nostalgic making promises to restore the wonder years of the French connection by making everyone believe that he was determined to bring Buffalo a Stanley cup. There is nothing in the present day tense to believe that this team is any closer to realizing that goal. There is a lot more drama in between the benchmarks I just laid out but that its too much to list here, so I will end this mini rant with one more example. The Sabres blew the one opportunity they had when they gave the "C" to Jack Eichel instead of Ryan O'Reilly who was on the team prior to Eichel's arrival which was essentially a slap in face to ROR. Ryan O'Reilly was a vocal leader in the locker room who ran counter to the Woke culture of the front office of the Sabres when expressing his frustrations for not making the playoffs and mismanagement of the team in general. Needless to say he ruffled a lot of feathers and so they ran him out of town as well for a song and a bird. Eichel? Well we know how that story played out too. The point is this team and its organization is a total joke that has too much baggage of bad Karma to overcome their dysfunctional negative vibe, or spiritual problem if you will and until Pegula wakes up from whatever spell he is under, decides to grow a pair and fire Adams, then the same results are going to continue to manifest. Another wasted season is too much to allow Adams to continue as GM for this team. Fire Adams! Please please please, God make it so!

The Sabres are a developmental team for the NHL. I don’t have a problem with the GM, he doesn’t have any veteran difference makers. The type of players the Sabres need don’t hit free agency or get traded and when you’re drafting 18 year old kids you don’t have more than an educated guess to work with. Josh Allen was playing Junior College football when he was 18. Good thing for the Bills the NFL Draft eligibility age is reasonable. NFL teams get immediate help in the draft, NHL teams get a kid who isn’t eligible to play in Rochester yet and is going back to Moose Jaw to play his final season of Junior Major. The Sabres are just drafting players to develop for trades and repeating the cycle… You can’t go 14 years without making the playoffs Mr. Reporter? The over/under on DraftKings is probably 20…

Adams just can't build a roster and can't figure anything out. Failed to weaponize the cap for assets when we had space, now his build has come up far short and is expensive. Kevyn Adams is modern day Garth Snow. A guy who never should've been GM who got thrust into the role because he was a former player. The Sabres need a young, smart guy to fix this ship because they have the pieces to figure it out, just can't do it with this crew in charge right now.

Sabres fan here Kevyn Adams NEEDS TO GO!!!!! Ownership needs to stay the hell out of all of it, look at the Bills and their success and the ownership stays out if it and they need to do the same for the Sabres!

Imagine if they had this d core when they had eichel, o reilly, reinhart, rodrigues. Etc.

Pro sports teams are a hobby for the ownership so I am not surprised having a good team is not a priority.

You couldn't be more wrong about eichel dude. He requested a trade a year before he injured his neck man hahahahah come on now

Kevyn Adams. The answer is that, for The 14 Years, there's been A Problem With The GMs & even when Kevyn Adams did A Decent Job, during The Jack Eichel Years, he screwed up by hiring Ralph Krueger, who had wasted Skinner, Hall, Staal & others, some of which went on to Win Stanley Cups (Eichel, Reinhardt, O'Reilly, Okposo & Others). Let me know what you think

Sabres fan since day one living in Las Vegas. Thanks for Eichel and the Stanley Cup Pegula.

The Byrom deal; fans were duped into thinking the stack of D men, was for a powerful move to get a real REAL top scorer. Not just to load up on the same side shot Dmen, we were led to believe they must be gaining that D depth, to make a bigger move.

And im flooding the messages, sorry about this, but im responding as i watch... and im just some random name on youtube, perhaps...but i can say for sure,, there have been talented younger guys out WEST, who would go to Buffalo, simply because of the proximity to people in their family (ie parents, etc)..and would go to Buffalo over a place, such as, lets say Winnipeg....and there have been some trades even GMKA havent done because he is too trigger shy to make another mistake.

How does he answer that question ? That sounded like a lot of BS, when you see players gliding around, weak back check, you want changes, guess what, their not changing, once a player gets a contract and their locked in, where's the hunger, where's the accountability. Nowhere.

Look, I’m not arguing the Sabres aren’t a tire fire. But you have some of your facts wrong. Jack Eichel asked for a trade out of Buffalo before he ever even injured his neck. He is on record on spitting chicklets admitting this fact. And Buffalo did not want to trade Reinhart. He decided he wasn’t signing long term so Buffalo had no choice. Where the Sabres screwed up was not signing him long term before that. Reinhart was open to signing long term both times he signed ridge deals (of 2yrs and 1yr). Then after his 1 year bridge was up he was no longer willing to sign long term because Eichel wanted out and Buffalo was entering into yet another rebuild. That’s why fans hold no animosity toward Reinhart but do toward Eichel. Otherwise, I agree. The Sabres are a poorly run franchise for sure.

Expected goals is a BS stat……it is based on players having skill to put the puck in the net ….problem their forwards don’t have skill to score

Last time I checked Winnipeg has very few palm trees, but are first in the NHL. How about resigning your best players instead of trading them over and over.

As a diehard Sabres fan it’s ownership plain and simple, which is ironic cause of what Terry the idiot has in the bills but he can’t seem to stop ruining the Sabres

Doesn't Buffalo know that they wont make the playoffs till they trade Eichel? Seriously that guy is a locker room cancer. I bet Buffalo makes the playoffs within a season of trading him 😂😂😂
@LT21Titans27Ай бұрын
They've fumbled so many talented players away from mismanagement they can't be surprised nobody wants to come here. As a Sabres fan I was always on the players' side, especially Eichels. This all comes down to ownership, he refuses to spend to the cap or pay for solid talent development in the front office or behind the bench. Until this changes, the Sabres will be the laughing stock of the league.
