The Rangers problem is not a mystery. It's simple: we've become soft. We are not physical. It's been a recurring theme for a while in New York. Club presidents have tried to address it but they forget that it is something that must be kept on top of, not merely addressed once and forgotten about. Play Matt Rempe and give Will Cuylle more ice time. Phil Chytil is an example of someone who has injury fears yet plays on the edge, putting himself in harm's way for the rest of the team. We need more of that. Unfortunately, Peter Laviolette keeps giving the main ice time to his struggling, weak senior players instead of giving it to those who are willing to put their bodies on the line and put the fear God into the opposition.

Chytil does not play on the edge, unless you mean the edge of the rink. He's amongst the worst in terms of protecting himself. Hence why he can't stay healthy. Too much admiring passes and tunnel vision. Rempe is not an NHL Player. He's a goofball. There are 6 skaters on this team I would keep and build around. Cuylle/Berard/Edstrom/Schneider/Jones/Mancini. 2 of those have about 15 games NHL experience combined. The rest aren't even worth watching.

@@mikeb3216 Rempe is a beast and this team desperately needs that. He is absolutely an NHL player; an old school hard motherf***er and every team needs one. Whenever he's played, Rempe has had a strong impact. We need a meat head to go out there and spark life into the team. Our record is far better when he plays. As for Chytil, he throws himself about which is what i wish other players would do.

This group of losers cannot handle that style of play and all Rempe does is put a target on everyone's back with his high/late hits.. No thanks.

The only Rangers that have been healthy scratched are Vesey (twice) and Smith …… none of the other players have been held accountable for their mistakes. Miller , Lindgren, and Mika Z have made costly mistakes consistently and haven’t missed a shift. My question is if Lavi is being told by Drury that he has to play those three regardless. And speaking of Drury, he has completely undermined the team leadership. Trouba needed to go but it was handled poorly and then making Kreider available, the defacto captain, was a mistake.

With some of these players playing bad, making mistakes how is it that they aren’t getting called out, benched I don’t get it. Miller and Mika just keep making mistakes and still getting played. Maybe we should have a coach like Kennan or Torterella.

The beginning of this demise happened when Drury sided with the underachieving core of this team and fired Coach Gallant after the players QUIT in the playoffs. Easy "fix", fire the coach and fix nothing ! Drury is the problem...

When you shit on your captain like Drury did and this has been a huge burden now, they dont hit, miller is the one that should have been traded, but miller don't hit, fought once, a big body should be checking everyone, but don't, he's not the only one that's is playing like shit, we had an identity of big hits but that is gone now, and last year was a fluke, we won't see a wildcard spot this season, a complete overhaul is coming, from the top down.

@@TheSealsMen The only players I would keep on the team are Panarin (for less money and on the third line if they actually rebuild properly), Lafreniere, and Igor only because they just signed him, otherwise I'd have traded him because we don't need to torture a goalie that takes up the cap Kakko is probably done as a Ranger, even Fox looks bad, and I don't buy anyone's hype about the current prospect pool The priorities should be finding competent development staff for both the Rangers and Hartford, scouts for players (I want more Russians, not nobody North Americans), and to find a GM that will stick to the plan and keep Dolan from sabotaging it Idk if they can bring back JD or get someone unconventional like a Fedorov (who has experience as a coach unlike Messier)

The Rangers are not a team anymore. Drury has done a poor job and Laviolette seems reluctant to make the tough decisions. It seems the players have lost confidence in management and are going through the motions.

Your argument about Buffalo is wrong. Or All Canadian teams would be prosperous and expansion would happen there. They are not and they don't, no one wants to go to Canada why, dollar conversion is poor. NY 2nd highest taxes it's the same thing. Nobody wants to voluntarily just throw money away. The NHL has been on a slow transition to something similar to Baseball, or Basketball. The days of honor, grit, pride are gone we have a soft league with players who prioritize money over the team, success, and tradition.

I'm a Devils fan so I'm not complaining but it's shocking to see them playing like this. They were the only team that gave the Panthers a real scare last spring and I thought the Rangers would have beaten the Oilers. It will be interesting to see what happens to their big pieces, especially after the Igor deal was finalized recently.

The team as a whole are pulling a MUTINY against Management which has been going on for the last 8 weeks. This has nothing to do with confidence this is between the team and management. How does a team winning 3-1 against a bad team lose due to their lack of play and between you and i they are terrible actors. What infuriates me the most about the Rangers is having a coach who absolutely refuses to hold certain players accountable for their poor play. Laviolette won't hesitate to sit Kakko for a mistake, yet Zibanejad can turn the puck over repeatedly but never miss a shift or a power play opportunity. Does Mika have something on Laviolette? There is no excuse for Mika to continue to get the minutes he does or to remain on the top power play unit. How is it that everyone sees this but the coach? Laviolette is destroying this team by refusing to sit certain players while not giving more deserving ones more playing time. We need a coach who isn't afraid to stand up to the veterans and dole out ice time based on performance, not on how long the players have been here.

over the last couple of years My NY Rangers have come up short (not in the pay contracts), I felt the 'Goalie' while playing well brought the most negative karma with his pay disputes; DO the players still love playing hockey? they don't seem to be a team, know what each other are doing and they have no rhythm, thus no matter which players they have they will continue to fall short though out the season and in the playoffs, bring back coach Vigneault

Contrast the personal touch management applies to shaping a roster versus those who take a more generalized one where individuals are not valued specifically… you get lesser situations with the latter. Good results with Caps Canes Panthers Stars ..just a few of the teams getting good results and you know the GM’s at these venues are doing an excellent job of combining quality input with their rosters. As has been said..players talk amongst themselves..and they will want to sign where they feel the team environment emphasizes inclusion and winning together.
