For anyone watching this who thinks that maybe I'm exaggerating or just don't know what I'm talking about, Julian Krause released his analysis of the interface a little while ago. This has the numbers, graphs, etc that back up everything I've said here. Video is here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ipOZiZpsotZ1q8U.

I use mine to plug into a tablet and it works perfectly no noise at all and has more than enough gain for every mic which is good cause normally i need a separate preamp for other interfaces.
@Leo_Vulkan2 жыл бұрын
According of what can be heard in the preamp and line noises it is something related to electrical pulses from your pc. It can vary from interfaces but in the end is coming from your pc.
@noodohs2 жыл бұрын
I talked about that in the video. It happened on three different computers, not just the one, all with varying hardware. And it does not happen with any other interface I have ever used in over a decade of audio work. It's not the computer.

I did notice the recording seem very low on reaper but i think i just dont know how to configure it for that yet. I mainly use this on my tablet for singing on smule and it works wonderfully for that clean and crisp definitely gives you an edge over everyone else that uses those microphones built into their earbuds

Only half way through but TY for all the information. I'm seriously considering getting one of these, but as an effect processor and streaming mixer feeding back into my Evo16, at $80 its really still tempting me, but for my specific application (realtime vocal FX like the vocoder, i have an electret headset i want to use, effects on my synths) In theory all this should be easy but outboard processing is just so much easier than inboard routing. Your conclusion doesnt make any sense, none of the alternatives you reference have DSP effects. A real alternative would be the Roland VP4 which is WAY more
@noodohs4 ай бұрын
I would absolutely not buy this just for the effects processing. It isn't expandable and the ones on it are very limited.
@mycosys4 ай бұрын
@@noodohs What effect unit with mic pre would you recommend for $80? Have you ever used/bought hardware effects?
@noodohs4 ай бұрын
The only voice-focused hardware FX I've really used was a TC Helicon unit which was decent, but I generally find hardware to be very limited, especially at that budget. You'd be much, much better off using software unless you have some money to spend.

@@noodohs I already have V collection, FX collection, Komplete Ultimate, Maschine, izotope production suite, some UAD & Eventide stuff, Ableton Suite, Max, etc etc and about 1,000HP of euro. 80 bucks for a pedal that does as much as this does is kinda wild tbh.

My friend is legit having MOST of these issues addressed and its helped me decide to NEVER buy one or really an interface tbh i don't need it for what i do and Steel Series Sonar etc can give me about the same effects but obv using a bit of processing on my pc but worth it for just Streaming not doing music or studio work of any sorts. (Edit: Uninstalling, Reinstalling the software and repluging every cord, factory restore settings etc fixed it.. T_T)

Where does the noise in your video come from? It is not persistent though. The worker bee is a condenser mic and there should be no noise at all, am I right?
@noodohs Жыл бұрын
Condensers typically have more self noise, actually, though the Worker Bee has very low noise. If you're talking about the noise of the Revelator, it's from the interface itself.
@VirtuelleWeltenMitKhan Жыл бұрын
@@noodohs Just to clear things up 1:36 loud noise 2:09 loud noise gone 2:34 loud noise again ... is this some air conditioning? It's not the mic nor the interface, right?

I think your talking about the presents that made ur mic sound weird for some reason whenever it turns on it sets the presents to this robotic voice one and you need to turn off the preset. I know you can change it in the software though

I'm not.

The problem is yall trynna use expensive mics on a affordable product knowing yall mic requires more for a affordable mic it works fine cause they’re not powerful enough or power hungry to work against it
@noodohs5 ай бұрын
The MV7x, which would absolutely have this problem, is under $200. Even an SM58 is likely to run into this problem and that's $100. Cheap mics can also have low sensitivity.
@produktbaby5 ай бұрын
@@noodohs bro those are pod cast mics they’re gonna take more but then to each their own cause sum have zero problems others have many but what im saying folks tried to put pod cast mics on budget stuff and expect things to run smooth and perfect when even high end interfaces sometimes struggle and they need a cloud so can’t expect much now if it was tweakin with a neewer mic id ouu god bless
@noodohs4 ай бұрын
What. The SM58 is an industry standard live mic, it is not made for podcasting at all. MOST dynamic mics have low sensitivity, it has nothing to do with price.

I'm interested to have this unit but it is still unavailable ini my country. It is nice to watch this video. So insightful.

50db gain willake ir mics extremely sensitive thats way to much for my condenser i have it between 20 and 28db unless its a dynamic maybe 38db

Exactly, it was for a dynamic mic. MV7 and SM7b need that much.

Did you ever figure out what you did to get the "phase canceling" sound to go away? Mine sounds almost like a comb filtering. It took me so long to figure out that it was a hardware issue and not just some software setting I was missing. I keep asking myself, "why does this sound so bad?" I have no answer.
@noodohs Жыл бұрын
It was just a firmware update, I didn't do anything. Super weird.

Unfortunately I just got an iO44 and the headset mic input shows signal, but I can't get it to record in REAPER, nor can does it show on the output section of Universal Control. I think it's a bad unit, but how much do you want to bet that I'll get zero support from PreSonus? I've dealt with them before, and they are positively the worst. Mind you, this isn't my first rodeo, I have 6 RME interfaces here, an EVO8, and a dozen other miscellaneous ones.
@noodohs2 жыл бұрын
In my case, they did offer to RMA it, but I was going to have to pay shipping. Fortunately, Sweetwater was much nicer about it. Not that it mattered, both units had the same exact issues.
@Blewis-Diarrheo2 жыл бұрын
@@noodohs Bro, the sound quality is just dreadful. At this price, nothing can be perfect, but the EVO8 mops the floor with it.
@noodohs2 жыл бұрын
If you're running the 1.00 firmware, that could be part of it. It was absolutely awful with that firmware for me, but was perfectly acceptable (aside from the noise) with later firmware.
@Blewis-Diarrheo2 жыл бұрын
@@noodohs I actually fixed it, I think... turns out the pinout was switched on the adapter I had, yet it showed on the input channel just fine. Still, the sound quality overall of the unit, even just for playback, it's bad. Also, the Thesycon drivers totally messed up my system so that my onboard laptop sound wasn't being recognized at all, I had to do a system restore just to get past some weird error message. Not impressed. I have 12 Presonus Firestudio Mobiles on hand, and those are totally solid (too bad they're Firewire)

My headphone Jackson all messed up crazy feedback when I turn gain up
@noodohs2 жыл бұрын
It could literally be feedback if you have mic monitoring on. See if it still happens if you mute the mic.
