I've used the tent for many night, but the real test came on the Tour du Mont Blanc. The tent withstood Alphine wind and thunderstorms. I was sceptical about the white color, but it cleans easily. The 2 doors system result in good ventilation. I use it as a 1-person tent (I'm 190cm) with my kit inside, so I'm spoiled with space. No tent is perfect, but I will buy it again for the durability, weight and serving me well under harsh conditions.

Thanks a lot for the feedback! Great to know it worked for you well especially under such harsh conditions. We do think it is nice for one person in terms of space.

Have you noticed that the flysheet of the tent absorbs hymidity and dries quite long? And what about the insects being attracted to white color?
@whatsnottohike Жыл бұрын
I have the newer, all white 2 person version and I love it. When you stake the tent out properly using a third pole, the inner does not sag. The reason that it's all white is because it's undyed which is better for the environment.
@WalkingNatureWorld Жыл бұрын
We did see the all white tent opeion under the same product item, meaning we could choose the combined version and all white option of this tent. So we were sure it is exactly same tent. Do you think they are different is some way? Which third pole do you mean?

This tent is not yet available in my country, Canada. I've used your videos to inform all my decathlon purchases from the mh500 20l to the mh100 2 person tent. Thank you for this review, it seems the decathlon trekking tent all suffer from the head sagging issue. Have you guys tried the lanshan 2 series of trekking tents? These are also quite affordable and look to be better in design. For the footprint you can use the plastic sheeting that people use to cover their windows as a good groundsheet, much lighter too. Thanks again for the great video!
@WalkingNatureWorld Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! Wonderful to know that our reviews helped you with your choice! It may be an issue with their tents, still haven't tested them all. We do actually have the Lanshan 2 Pro tent and it is much better in this respect, the only thing we din't like is that it is a single wall tent, and we much prefer having a double wall. We know that there is such version too. Anyway, we will be doing a comparison of those two tents very soon, as they seemed to be quite similar from the first glance and worth a separate video:) That's a good hack with the footprint, may have to try it.

I use just the fly sheet when there are no mosquitos. 400 grams for 75 Euros. Dyneema has to wait until I buy it. I own also Lunar Solo and High Route. Forclaz MT900 is the best.

I saw this last year and then it disappeared from Decathlons website. 1.3kg is not bad for a 2 person backpacking tent but I don't know how well it would stand up to wind. I ended up buying a Durston Xmid2. A bit more expensive than this though.

Yes, its weight is what attracted us the most but then we weren't convinced by the color at all. And it should be tested further with the wind. Durston Xmid2 looks nice!
@inxlee Жыл бұрын
You finally got it! This is the original version. The newer one is completely white inner and outer. This version is better and also cheaper. You can use carbon tarp poles in place of the trekking poles to cut weight. True about the inner pockets and more points to connect to prevent sagging inside. Also feel there should be a middle hook for a light. If there is a way to dye the outer green it would be perfect. Lastly if the inner was fully mesh!
@WalkingNatureWorld Жыл бұрын
We saw that there is a completely white version too, thought that they are the same. But maybe they released a different one recently? Yeah, our main concern is the color, it is too bright. And we agree with the rest less significant issues.

Next spring, when some Decathlon tents make their way to Canada at the same time, it would be nice to see them come out with a four-season tent for those who like winter camping at -30c degrees and 30cm snowfall.

I really wanted Decathlon to release a tent that would be better than my Naturehike Tagar 2, but I'll stick to the chinese brand for a while now. I'm still looking for a 2 person tent that would be lighter or smaller packed, cause with bikepacking my space is really limited. So far found nothing without having to spend $400 and getting a Durston.

Great review I also noticed that in decathlon website it mentions that the tent is not made to be under direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time.. Is there any other tent that can be placed under the sun light for long periods of time? Because my goal would be to just set up tent and forget about it for days or weeks if necessary in future thanks :D
@WalkingNatureWorld Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes, that is correct, any tent is not advisable to leave out in direct sunlight and we haven't had one that was made for it. It would be nice to find such tent though, we will share it right away if we do. Maybe other people are aware of such tents sharing it in the comments.

The color might be fine for underwear etc but for tent it will attract bugs. I personally do not care if it gets dirty but bugs are a problem. The humidity worries me more. Tent must work well in the rain and ther is no waterproof video on forclaz YT channel. The idea and design is good enough for one person.
@WalkingNatureWorld Жыл бұрын
We were initially worried about the color and it was the first time when we got so many bugs around the tent, it was pretty bad. All decathlon tents are tested in the rain so it should withstand it as all the seams are sealed.

Everything's ok but this color. Dirt and bugs are one thing, but sleeping during the day or sleeping in the morning? It's good that we care about the environment. The only question is how often do you buy a tent? The amounts of dye are not huge and disposal in factories is much better than someone dyeing at home.
@WalkingNatureWorld Жыл бұрын
Yeah, the color is a huge bummer for us too, it put us off from taking this tent for a long time. Even though the tent itself definetely can have its fans. That is a good note from you, we had the same thoughts about the comfort of sleep in it due to the light. And we also support the environmental efforts but don't think it would make such a big diffference. Better just to make solid tents that will last you for a while. Otherwise this white tent could have been much more popular.

@WalkingNatureWorld6 ай бұрын

When I was younger nearly all tents were this colour and the only negative was that it was too light too early in the morning. I applaud Decathlon supporting sustainability but think that they should offer a dyed version at an increased cost with a donation going towards environmental products. At times I felt that the reviewers were talking along the lines of "we want a £300 tent for £150".
@WalkingNatureWorld Жыл бұрын
That's an interesting information, didn't know that the tents were made white before. A good idea about providing a dyed version too. We did use their previous model of Quechua Quick Hiker ultralight and it was budget but better in many aspects in our opinion. Of course it wasn't that lightweight.
@mihaidavid359 Жыл бұрын
Compared to the other tent Decathlon sell , the Forclaz MT 900, this one is pretty bad and also very expensive for what it is. For less money you can get a tent that will actually resist some wind and have some space inside like the chinese Naturehike Mongar. Heck...i would even choose the basic Quechua MH 100 over this.
@WalkingNatureWorld Жыл бұрын
Haha, yeah, it didn't convince us either. The weight and concept are quite nice but how they put it together is questionable. Would you recommend to try out Naturehike Mongar? We have been eyeing it for a while
@mihaidavid359 Жыл бұрын
As a more reputable brand i would go for Salewa Litetrek II for the ease of set-up and wind resitance.That tent would fit me well for winter camping too for this reasons.My previous tent Salewa Micra ,although a 3 season tent, held-up abuse for 6 years from camping under 1000m in the summer to plenty Carpathian Mountains winter camping and a trip to Kazbek / Elbrus trip so i am also ready to upgrade to something better besides the Naturehike.
