1:12 (approx.) Agreed, 100%. If someone in your group is lucky enough to get out of trouble (and if they didn't save themselves at the others' expense), you don't blame them. My friends & I snuck over to a friend's house, and the "Plan" was that if anything went wrong, we would go out the bathroom window and run back home... Something went wrong, I immediately shot toward the window & flung myself out (slicing up one leg). My friends didn't. After waiting for like 15-20 minutes, I knew they'd been "captured" so I ran home. I saw my friends the next day, and was terrified that they would be furious with me. As soon as we saw each other, they started laughing & saying how fast I got out that window. Never even considered it unfair or got mad. You know how you can fall in love with a partner even more? I felt that same kind of thing for those 2 girls. We're all unfortunately busy with jobs and/or kids, but I still feel it. I love those girls (now women) so much, & I hope they know. My best friends are my husband, my baby, & those 2 amazing human beings. ❤ The next time you see each other after an incident like that, you give them props or high fives for how lucky they were. Your friends' good fortune should bring you joy as well. Otherwise, you might not be a very good friend.

These stories remind me of when I was a pot-smoking teenager. A bunch of us were lighting up, and my friend and I got the munchies, so we split up and the two of us went to get some snacks. What we forgot was that the rest of our friends decided to go up the street where they broke into the underground parking lot of a doctors office to do more drugs (more than just cannabis). My friend and I smoked a bit more weed, then we decided to just go home, as it was dark by that point. We didn't find out until the next day that they tripped a silent alarm, and the cops came and arrested the majority of them. I'm so glad that my friend and I were too high to remember where the rest of our group went. Us having the munchies saved our butts.

I've had a moment like what that reddit post ask. My friends and I were skipping P.E. (highschool) and were chilling out near the bathroom. Just then I saw the Vice Principle and Dean of Discipline walking in our direction. I had been training my friends for months to immediately move when they just see me suddenly turn and walk away quickly but none of them picked up on this when I walked away from them while saying nothing. They all got detention and I alone escaped.

when I was in fifth grade, I’d always skip class with my friends in the bathroom. one day when we were skipping, I decided to go back to class before my friends, since I left for the bathroom first. not even 30 seconds after I got into the classroom, the teacher told the assistant to go get my friends, they were escorted back into into the classroom and got in trouble.💀

I was an RAin college, and I never once gave anyone any shit or wrote anyone up for drinking during the entire time I was an RA. There was a rule about my sorority getting in trouble if they got in trouble for being written up by an RA, but there was a rule that I was not allowed to talk about the people who got in trouble for breaking rules. So even though I was an officer in my sorority, I would never have told anyone else on the board that anyone got into trouble. There was a line I would have never crossed, but no one ever knew it. 😹

I grew up in a decently sized college town in a rural state, and that gave me some opportunities as a teen that i dont think many others get. Like access to house parties. I got invited to my first one by a super drunk girl on the city bus at like 14. I politely refused her offer, but after i turned 18 and especially 21 the flood gates opened. So. Near the commercial area next to campus is a cross country running course that the university maintains. There are stands of trees, hills, a cute little stream with bridges, and it's just a really nice little pocket of nature in the middle of town. Well, along the far side, away from the campus, was this little fort that my group discovered. Now this was during my early to mid 20's, so it quickly devolved into a new party spot. At first it was all good, we were screened by trees from the closer road, and away from any real entrance. Plus a pretty good ways away from any houses or walking paths. We enjoyed the place for a whole summer. I remember it fairly well, because I was there more to play guitar and sing some new songs, not get messed up like most of the others. yeah, I was that guy. In my defence, they were mostly originals, and I also was performing on stage with a band 3-6 times a month all over the state at that point in my life. I'd get pestered if I didn't bring my guitar. Anyways, back to the point. The last night was fun, good times were had. The clock rolls to around 3 AM and mostly everyone has cleared out. It's just me and like 5 other randoms I had just met that night, standing at the start of the path, just having that sort of winding down long goodbye that people say is a midwestern thing, but ive heard its a northeast thing too, and im not entirely convinced its all that unique to the area. Our eyes are used to the darkness at this point, the fire has long gone out. So when two bright flashlights start shining down the path walking towards our camp, one of the randoms loudly asks who it is, and we dont get a reply right away as they walk closer. My flight reflex kicks in hard and I just instantly turn, crouch, and solid snake my way into some tall grass that bordered the camp on one side. I put my hands together, and held my arms up infront of me and extended out kinda like a diver to brush my way through the grass like a cowboy boot (that is literally the thought in my mind that made my put my arms up like that in the moment, worked great). I scrambled out of the grass by climbing up an embankment, across the road, down the next embankment, and SPRINTED across a field faster than I ever had ran before in my life, my trusty guitar banging against my back on its strap. Then I was across the next road, and finally made it under a bush where I rested and had a great hidden view of the ground I had just covered. I turned and saw a cop car parked at the gate to the park, about a hundred feet from where i had made my dash. I watched for a moment, 20 fast breaths might have passed before I saw movement across the field. The cop car flipped its lights on, pulled away from the gate and reversed up the road. Shining its spotlight in the grass area that I had ran into at the very start. Two streets and a city block length of field too late to catch me. I probably wouldn't have gotten in much trouble if I had gotten stopped. I was 95% sober, and had not committed nor carried anything illegal beyond being in a park after hours. "I was just walking home and stopped to play some music officer". I've had to deal with the local cops a few times, mostly for noise complaints, and they've been reasonable every time with me, never had any actual problems with them. They're pretty lenient on college aged kids who aren't legit causing problems for anyone. I'm glad I didn't have to roll the dice on it though, and it's been long enough I'm pretty sure I'm clear now. I think the only regret that I have is that I didn't know any of the random people that were still there, so I can't say with certainty that I was the only one who got away. I have no idea what happened there after I turned to run. I didn't see anyone else make it out in my direction though. I did hear from some girls that had left like an hour before that they got stopped on the other side of the park, one of them ran up a tree and refused to come down and they called the fire department out with a ladder to help and everything. She said that she just cried and said she was too scared to climb down and ended up with essentially a slap on the wrist. Also told me that someone in their group had actually told the cops where to look for the party spot, it was hidden enough that they had missed it in a sweep they had done before. I guess they'd been getting complaints about drunk people coming out of the woods or something. Thinking back, I actually have a handful of stories similar to this one from those short few years. Finding a modicum of success as a musician in your early 20's is a wild thing to live through, especially when there are 40,000 college students withing a few square miles who are also looking for people to party with. This stories just one of my favorites lol

Okay I got a rare "man talks about his feelings" moment for you. I wanna preface this with saying my boyfriend (female to male trans) loves me very much and I love him very much. Hes very accepting of the idea that men should be able to express themselves and even acknowledges a lot of the shit guys go through. He outright told me, back when he was a she, that he felt bad for men at times. But all of that goes right out the window the moment it becomes apart of her reality As a kid he was emotionally, physically, and verbally abused. I, on the otherhand, was loved but was given the typical "suck it up and ve a man" treatment. So as a result Im very emotionally empty a lot of the time. I dont cry. Now my bf has been suffering from depression, ptsd, and anxiety. All three were diagnosed. Its so bad hes tried many times throughout his life to kill himself. Even right in front of me, though we live in a trailer so its hard for him to hide it when I can hear the pill bottle from the other end of the house... Anyway, sometimes, when the stress of life gets to me (usually while Im trying to support him through a depressive episode) Ill break down and lose all semblance of emotional stability. Ill cry. HARD. Like snot pooling down my nose hard. Now heres the problem. That emotional abuse I mentioned? Well in these depressive episodes, he is CONVINCED that any emotion I show is faked to manipulate him like his mother did way back when. Its the only thing putting tension in our relationship right now and god does it hurt both of us. Badly. He hasnt even started taking T yet, so he doesnt actually know what being a man is like, first hand, yet. So hes going to continue to act as though he were a woman for a long time, and Im very worried hes going to get fucked up because of it. Not just physically, but mentally, too.

When I was a freshman I had an absolutely insane roommate. I knew from the moment I met her there wasn't something quite right about her, but since I was living with her I didn't want to make trouble, my resolve was to be cordial but not to get too close to her. Everyone else who lived around the common room, on the other hand, decided they all wanted to be the best of friends cause you know it's freshman year of college and most people don't know others and are just trying to be nice and it's easy to make friends with the people you live near. That girl turned out to be a psycho, she was an attention seeker, a pathological liar, would scream at her parents over the phone in the common room when people were just trying to hang out, and so much more. All these people who initially became friends with her didn't want to hang out with her anymore and she didn't take it well. Yelling matches took place, drama ensued, it was wild. I witnessed a lot of it, and some I heard secondhand. It all came to a head when she spouted a bunch of lies to the RA and everyone had a meeting. Well everyone except me that is. Since I never became friends with her in the first place I was the only name she left out, cause by all accounts I didn't do anything, not even stuff she could twist to fit her narrative. Coming back after that meeting was kind of hilarious, I was bopping along to music and having a great day when I came into the common room and everyone was sitting around looking like they were attending a funeral. After that, though there were fewer issues since most people took the ignore and don't engage method and she got the hint and found other people to bother for the most part. Luckily after that year I never saw her again. I always tell people to trust their gut when it comes to people, if something seems off it probably is.

in hs we did a class trip where we were on a public ferry boat- the top part for passengers and the bottom part for cars, the sides were open so you could smoke anywhere on the boat- so some boys went downstairs and hid between some trucks near the side and smoked. they were leaning out side that happened to be where the teachers a floor above could look down and see them. as the teachers were walking down and gathering the boys, one of them slipped upstairs, made some cup of noddles with a hot pot on the side for passengers, and told us a crazy story of crawling under cars and using a maintenance latter on the outside of the boat to climb to the second story, the smell of smoke gone with the steam of cheap noodles- a clean get away my own is somewhat silly, i didnt 'get away' but i did get to keep my drink we were in a town where everyone was drinking in public, i was w/ my friends and we decided to buy and drink on the street w/ everyone else. an elderly woman came up to us shaking her head and speaking to us in a language we didn't understand, she looked so worried, but we couldnt help her and just moved on- a few blocks later two cops on motor bikes with bamboo sticks surrounded us and started whacking us and mostly the ground telling us to place our beers on the street and to go- i was so freaked idk why but i just placed mine in my jacket and walked off? guessed they didnt see. we were surrounded by young and old people w/ beers and drinks on the sidewalks as it was happening and we were so confused. my friend suddenly remembered a few blocks later: "OH we're WOMAN" as we noticed only dudes out parting class trip in India- total culture shock. honestly lucky, it could have been much worst with that big of a tourist mistake yikes

I got a few I’m the only one that got away moments. Back in school and my young 20s days me in my friends would get into stuff, have beef, cause trouble etc. I always considered myself a leader type of personality. I was not in that position in the friend groups. I’d suggest better actions and solutions. They’d do them, n when it came to the come down I moved different n escaped, or wasn’t seen. Was once I got caught up with their shit but I kept my mouth shut n was in trouble that time alone.

TL/DR: Rather than sprint for freedom, I hid while my friends led the cops away. On a Saturday night in high school, my friends and I snuck into a gated section of our local park to drink some beers. The place was used by a bunch of elderly dinks for lawn bowling. We were getting pretty loud when we heard the cops rolling up on the place. Everyone scattered, jumping fences and running away to lose the cops. I ducked behind a wide pillar supporting the patio awning where we were had been hanging out. From there, I was out of sight of the officers from anywhere on the fence line. Peeking around the side, I could see the cops chasing my friends on foot through the park. Soon, the idling engines of the patrol cars were all I could hear. I kept waiting and eventually could hear the officers making their way back to their cars, bitching at one another, but not hearing them questioning any of my friends. Gradually, I heard the sound of patrol cars pulling away, but I stayed put, paranoid one of them might still be nearby. At 10 PM, the park's lampposts turned off and I was plunged into darkness. Then, I heard an engine turn over and a police spotlight started scanning the fence line. Even though my paranoia was validated, I was still effectively trapped, taking very shallow breaths. Eventually, I heard this patrol car pull away and waited another few minutes. With my previous paranoia validated, I was now absolutely certain someone else was still watching the fence line. Rather than just make a break for it without knowing if anyone was watching, I finished off the last of a beer bottle and chucked that sucker towards the fence line. The sound of glass shattering broke the silence, almost echoing off the trees. When I didn't hear an engine turning over or see a spotlight scanning the fence line, I waited another few minutes before making a break for it. I cleared the fence and went prone. Nobody was chasing me. So, I quietly made my way out of the park, to the safety of home. For geographical reference, it's the Santiago Park in Santa Ana, California and the Lawn Bowling is still there on Valencia.

My parents and I get along like sodium and water. I seem to bring out the worst in them for whatever reason. Probably because I didn't put up with their BS like my brother did. Emotional abuse, fights started with me for no reason, making everything seem like it was my fault etcetera etcetera. After finally getting away after 22 years I now live in New York city. I was able to convince them that renting an apartment for me until I get a job was the least they could do to make things better. When I get a job I'm probably going to cut them out of my life for better or worse. My brother still lives with them but seems to get along just fine. I hope to God they're not pulling the same BS with him too.

This reminds me of a story. Not mine, this was a coworker I use to work with. Back when he was in high school, him and a bunch of friends were having a back woods party illegally. It was the 80s and there was alcohol, drugs and lots of other illegal stuff. At some point during the he night, the party got raided, and him and two friends bolted into the woods. After running for a bit, they thought they were clear. As they got close to their homes, they saw cops on the street ahead. My coworker played cool and just walked up to the officers what was going on. Thinking he was just a curious bystander, the officers just let the three guys go. He was one of the ringleaders and got away scot-free.

I was ditching class by hiding in a stall when a guard came in to chase out any other girls ditching in the bathroom. My bag was partially opened since I was drawing and in a panic I slipped a pad out and when she came banging on my stall door I yelped and dropped the pad. She saw it, told me to finish up and went back out. It was the first 10 minutes of a class hour so she wasn’t suspicious of me coming out with my bag. Went into one of the buildings, snuck into another bathroom and chilled there for the rest of the class hour without interruptions

Cops showed up we held hands walked around the block. Came back lots of minors in possession and contributing to a minor. We hopped in my truck and went home.

First story literally happened to me except it was thr roof of multiple stores bunched together like there was a subway and then next over was a pawn shop anyway it was just the 4 of us and 2 got scared and decided to climb down (we got up there climbing up some pipes connected to the wall) and me and my other friend stayed up there only for the police to arrive and after an hour of hiding from the police in a small open vent like thing on another roof that was a little above where the previous one was we decided to try and escape as we were army crawling on the roof trying to make it back to the pipes to try and climb down and book it from there as fast as possible a officer spotted us trying to make our grand escape and sent a fire crew and then they had came and opened up a little hatch that leads to the roof to get us down…..didn’t get way butttt I didn’t get in trouble for it ethier parents were just like “well the thing is you got caught” and didn’t seem to mind.

For that very last story with the mistake and the free upgrade on the room, holy cow, to be that front desk person, they probably got reemed, written up, and probably had a very bad day I work at front desk at a hotel and just imagining making that mistake myself is the stuff of nightmares.

Some of this stuff is actually just a case of common sense not being common. Many times I've avoided a bad situation by showing up parties early and leaving as soon as freshmen show up and start drinking. Or noticing when an already rowdy aggressive drunk goes to a corner and is clearly buying some harder drug. Or just not caring if your friends are making fun of you and leaving alone even if you have to find another ride.

Might not have been the only one, but it felt like it: When I was a HS sophomore, all the students had laptops, and we had figured out how to install VPNs on them, which allowed us to get around the school internet filter. I had logged in to my personal Chrome account on my laptop, which allowed me to install a VPN without being noticed. A quarter of the school was put in detention over it. But I was not post of that quarter.

Me (8), my cousin (12), and another kid (7) were listening to an adult conversation from 30 ft. away. Long as? You hug the wall, you can't be spotted. Our moms are all talking about something they didn't want us to hear and had told us to leave before. My cousin was up front. The other kid was in the middle and I was behind. Somehow, my aunt noticed my cousin. "Who is that", she asks as she realized it was my cousin. She called him. From that point, I crept up the stairs, staying low to avoid my shadow showing up where any adult could notice it on the wall, and I moved so quietly that even the kid in front of me didn't realize I was already gone. "Whoever else is there, come here". After they got popped, they both came back upstairs to find me laying in my bed, playing with my digimon toy. "You guys alright", I ask. "I heard someone got popped". "Yeah, I'm good" my cousin said. "They said to come around the corner, I turned around to look for you and you were already gone", said the other kid. I just smiled and kept playing with my digimon. I

I have one, sort of. I was in the hallway by our locker room at the beginning or end of gym class (can't remember) and a bunch of people were throwing change at eachother. And I mean hard. I, being the resourceful person I am, started grabbing the change off the ground to keep (mostly pennies, but probably got 15-25 cents by this point) Then, one of the coaches walks in while change is still flying. He asks who was throwing it. One of the kids points at me. The coach looks at me, a dozen pennies in hand, and says "you expect me to believe YouRock was throwing them?" I was known as a kid that doesn't get into trouble, basically ever. They got in trouble. I got to walk away a few cents richer. (I really didn't throw one, so Im glad I didnt get in trouble, especially since I was seemingly caught copper-handed haha)

I was 16 in high school and there was a school wide competition on a mystery box and people would guess what was in it in order to win it. My name mysteriously came up as the correct guess, I wasn’t there because I didn’t enter the contest. Swung by the staff room accepted the prize and ran away with it. (It was a Galileo Thermometer)

Had something like this happened. A party got busted by the cops and they lined everyone up for a breathalyzer. A lot of people were getting taken away for blowing .02 (everyone was underage including me) when they came to me I made up some b.s. story that I was handed a cup and didn't know if there was any alcohol in it. I blew a .01 and they just let me go. Was the only one who didn't get an underage drinking ticket.

Most of my dear friends growing up should have lead better lives than me. They were all stronger. They were better. Why did things turn out the way they did? Short version is, all my friends ended up worse off and it should have been me. I was the crazy one. I did some stuff I can't talk about and I loved it. I only stopped cuz I got caught. But I've had multiple friends self terminate, some in prison, some in God awful abusive relationships and the rest fell to drug abuse. It should have been me.

back in the late 90s, I was the odd one out, the outcast in school, so I had no friends, I made bad choices my first days there (talking to a kid everyone just avoided although I didn't know that at the time) so in my second year at the school, I was usually bored at recess or lunch break, and so I brought my stash of pokemon stuff to school so I could entertain myself. the stash included a gameboy with the red or blue cartilage and a bunch of cards. One day some boys took the cards from me and I gave chase. I kept telling them to give me my cards back. then they decided to surround me. One of the boys looked like he was about to punch me. I was scared so I let instinct take over and punched him in the nose (maybe a Hermione and Draco moment, cause he had his two friends flanking him.) I was so scared that I started crying when the teacher took us to her office and told us to write our version of what happened. I later found out that the three boys got suspended while I was just told to be careful if I brought my valuables to school.

Over a decade ago now, me and two of my friends at the time were doing some asset acquisition at a K-mart. They pulled ripped open like 3 full metal beyblade packs... loudly. I was happy to acquire a new flashlight (details not important) and those two obviously got caught. I stood there looking this cop in the face with the flashlight tucked up my sleeve for a good 10 minutes before I was told to leave. Moral of the Story: Keep Your Mouth Shut and Be Aware.

When I first started college, during the first week of the school year upperclassmen would "initiate" freshmen by making them do a silly dance, write a P with sharpie on their foreheads (freshman is "prepa" in Spanish), pour shaving cream on then, and in other campuses they'd pour dubious liquid mixes on them, possibly including pee. I had 2 events, one grupal and one solo where I got away. The first one is a freshman class that the professor hadn't arrived and they popped in the classroom like "WE GOT EM". I panicked a bit but my classmate muttered to just keep talking normally. We did and after a while the dude that had come in said "aww, these are old 'uns" and left. Whole class got off scot free. Now my solo event was leaving that exact classroom on the same day. As I was walking to the next building I heard some yell "PREPAAAAA" nearby. I managed to calmly look over my shoulder, see nothing, and keep my cool until I got to the other classroom. Found out later they'd caught a freshman from my class. They had to forbid this like a year later cause fights broke out and legal stuff, but that week during my freshman year was intense lmao

Spankings are not abusive punishment. Abusive punishment is pounding on someone with your fists; putting out cigarettes on their body; beating them anywhere other than their butt; and many, many other horrible things that I won't go into here. People have been brainwashed into thinking spanking is bad, but if more people are spanked as children when they misbehave, we will have fewer criminals in the world. Same thing goes for the death penalty. Murderers today see the worst thing that could happen to them would be a little shot in the arm, and most of them won't even get that. Instead, they get food, clothing, shelter, and recreational activities -- all paid for by the taxpayers -- and then, they have the possibility of getting out to continue murdering people. Old Sparky should make a comeback, and it should be used more often.
