My guitar teacher at school recommended I don't leave my guitar picks in my guitar case at school as other students would take them as they would lose or forget to bring theirs. He suggested that I carry some sacrificial picks in my case and kept my premium picks in my wallet and carry them on me. So I crafted out of old Black & Gold ice-cream containers picks that I would leave in a sandwich bag in my Strat case, worked like a charm. The music room and school was covered in bits of yellow plastic shaped like picks! That was 35 years ago so good to see there is now an option to have your own made! Thanks Crafty, Top Tip.

I'll admit I'm no musician but I do like your novelty idea of a Personalized Pick rather than a card or a web-address, it would surely make more of a lasting impression upon the recipient.

"Best" picks I ever tried were the max-grip range from Dunlop (they come in various shapes and sizes).. I was like "wow, these are amazing, they stick to my hand!"... but sure enough, they made me lazy; swings and roundabouts. These days I have a tonne of different picks and I regularly rotate between them to keep me honest.. grip, non-grip, different thickness, different shape. The ones I use most are non-grip Dunlop, normal size, between 0.8 and 1mm; they work for anything and don't let me get into bad habits. Gigging, I use max-grip. One thing I will mention is be careful of the thickness measure on textured/max-grip picks.. I've ordered a load of different ones over the years and I generally find the flex (thickness) feels off.. by that I mean it seems the thickness is measured from the high point of the grip texture, not the actual pick, so if you're ordering a 1mm max-grip pick, it will feel a lot more bendy than a "normal" 1mm pick... like 0.8mm

I was going to ask what gauge you use but you just answered that. I love medium gauge, anything in the .70s or .80s for electric, heavy gauge for acoustic. Great content! PS did you know Yngwie uses the heaviest gauge available? Unbelievable.

@ the reason: he says he doesn’t want any give or bend in the plectrum because that supposedly negatively affects his speed and accuracy. Which may be true for his style of playing.
