Very informative video, most of the stuff is pretty close. Rent outside of the GTA(greater Toronto area) is alot less. I'm an hour away I am renting a new 2 bedroom basement for 2000 per month. Restaurants are more expensive for a family of 3 it's gonna cost between $70-100 plus tips. Gym cost for a good gym starts at $60 per month. Cell phone bills are between 40-100 depending on the plan and carrier. Groceries can run you between $60-$200 per trip. Some of the stuff of numbeo are close, but with inflation they have went up quite a bit. Homelessness and crime are rampant lately, these are all due to the cost of living mostly. This doesn't seem realistic you're not taking into account the long waiting times Canadians are waiting for medical treatment or the benefits british people get in comparison there are plenty of properties to rent for £400-600 a month... I'm seeing hardly any properties below $1500 a month in Toronto that's £866.64 for conversion rate: so for expat this is garbage unless you're saying the benefits system covers all that in rent which I doubt. Good luck affording groceries let alone basic human living by that logic. You have to use up the $1518 for single individuals as quoted on the Government for canada website. A single person could be awarded £943.45 a month monthly in London and that's not even on disability, all I needed was to look up a postcode and use a benefits calculator and I was done. It seems pretty ridiculous that a person on benefits could be getting this much no wonder we have such ridiculous immigration numbers. I'm surprised that's all you guys get can a Canadian confirm this figure? This means unless you have a job, you can't afford rent. I also hear you guys get taxed like hell so to say it's a 3.2 affordability is a joke - if you were comparing benefits you'd rank london much higher. I think you need to clarify why it's 3.2, you probably haven't lived in the UK to understand that.

Living the best life you can Until you HAVE TO retire because of Age or Health. Then you are Fcked, 40+ years of saving a few % of your income won't cover 1 year of expenses if you don't have a job. OWNING a place to live is really the only way anyone will retire in Canada, Renting your whole life, is not living your best life it is postponing the inevitability of living on the streets after retiring because paying rent on CPP basically meaning you have no food and no money for anything else.
