What Salt Water Does to Electronics - Drone Crashed Into the Ocean - I paid $469 for a DJI Mavic 2 Zoom drone that was crashed into the ocean. Anytime electronics are exposed to salt water you're going to end up with corrosion so I'm taking this drone apart to see how bad the corrosion is and if I can get it working again.

The charred part is the ESC, which is the part in charge of drawing the amperage of the battery and provide power to the motors (which as you can imagine, draw a lot of amps). The ESCs are likely to burn out if the motors pull too much current, so I'd say it happened quite the opposite. I'd bet the ESC burned out and that caused the drone to fall into the water and not the other way around.
