Living in today's world is what scares me. You never know what's gonna happen out there, no matter what you think or do.

Horror movies aren't so scary compared to that, for sure.

For me the only one that comes to my mind is monster house. The idea a home can come alive is scary

There's a movie called House (1985) that is about that. There's a lot of comedy bits in it but there's also some really creepy ideas to it where the house knows what scares you and plays on your fears, and has walls within walls and other wild stuff. It's olllld but I still love it haha.

@@maglot oh my. That scary for sure. There also the one about a mansion that comes alive… can’t remember the name but there a scene we’re a room bed pin here to the it as the ceiling comes alive.

Obviously it wouldn't scare me now, but the hospital episode with the vampire is the one that actually scared me as a kid.

What scares me? Visitor Toothbrush quest users approaching me while I'm chillin in furry hideout. In all seriousness, I love the different scenes in the video. I love your work, please keep it going

I've never seen the original Ringu or the original Ju-On (The Grudge), albeit I have watched the Gore Verbinski version more than once and also watched the first two Grudge films more than once.

Honestly, after having read Haunted Savannah a long time ago, I'd say Poltergeist might actually be on my list. That being said, if it's not on Netflix, then I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

The fact you had to show what a VHS even was took 5 years off my life. But yeah, having to rewinding a movie just to watch it sucked.

One of the neat things about The Ring on VHS was that if you bought it, it came set at a pre-determined part of the tape, so the trailers would come first and then the movie. After watching it, if you rewound it to the beginning, you'd see the cursed tape footage, and then you'd hear a phone ring, THEN the trailers and movie would start. Clever idea!

@@maglot That is really cool. Would be so scary the first time it happens to people.

For me I'm not totally into the horror Genre myself but there are a couple of things I'd like to point out that affect me. A number of years ago I went to see Alien. I made several mistakes. The first was to go by myself and it was a midnight showing at a movie theater. The next mistake was driving home in the country on a moped with a single headlight and jumping almost every time I saw a tree's shadow and chanting "headlight don't fail me now.". Lately I've been into watching some of the various backrooms videos. Most of them are simple jump scares but a few stand out. Mainly the "lost in the Hyperverse" series. It sets you on edge but you rarely encounter monsters and it's filmed from the pov of the cameraman. These have a tendency to make me jumpy but without the jump scares, like there is almost a feeling of almost constant menace that you can't see. The feeling dies down after a bit and then when you feel safe it ramps up again. A recommend in my view.

realy amuzed of the ad of the ring that you mention like literally, HOW is this ad of the movie, i would definitly shit my pants i watched it recently and i think this film pushes you emotionally for a long time, waits for the moment, making scary part unexpected as possible Some people will not like this tipe of horrors because they are used to being scared, for the most part, by loud sounds as you said, i guess I would say that he kept me in constant intrigue rather than in spooky dookie, but I didn't watch that many horror movies, so let's say that this was my scariest movie too)

You make a good point, unlike a lot of other horror movies that have comedy bits in them to break the tension, this one just keeps relentlessly beating you down with its atmosphere and dread. I think that's also why it was so refreshing to me at the time, and still today. :D

thanks for sharing!!! i like this format of vlogs just letting you talk about your favorite things! I wonder how you would fare with foreign horror movies? for me i love thrillers that explore the darkness of the human heart, b/c there's nothing scarier than the real world and also aliens! but other than those my faves are Cure (1997), House (1977), Nope (2022), and The Thing (1982)!

Saw a number of horror movies as a kid but nothing hit like the movie Dreamcatcher. Never finished it. The changeling was good. Never really sought out horror though, wasn't for me.

I watched the second last friday the 13th movie in the cinema and I hated so much. It was mainly all the gore, maybe because back then I was going through a bad phase and for whateved reason gore just really got to me, but I rememver that one as really gross. A lot of my friends were laughing about the movie ;-; maybe horro is just not my thing lol
