as someone who had never heard of the show a couple years ago (i’d only seen the banner on prime video), i can say for certain the scene that defines the show and tells the audience what they’re in for is when A-Train kills Hughie’s girlfriend. i had no idea what the show was gonna be about (only vaguely by the summary) and i clicked on it cause i was curious about the whole superhero thing but after i saw that sequence my jaw dropped to the floor and i was so surprised that they’d go there i just had to continue watching to see where they were gonna take it lol

I will say about the flight 37 physics debate, the main reason they put that in the script is because it’s verbatim what HL says to marathon man in the comics during their flight 37, which was 9/11. Homelander in the show also decides it’s bad to try to tilt the plane, but that’s his action in the comics, cutting the tail off the plane
