My local scrap yard says they don't like electronics in the shred pile for some reason but every time I go there many said items are in the shred pile.

Would you take compressed gas cylinders such as freon tanks if the valves were cut off and a hole cut in the bottom?

The cans themselves? If they were properly drained then possibly

@ yea they were properly drained. With the valves cut off it makes it possible for you to view into them to see that they are empty and are no longer capable of holding a compressed gas. In my line of work I use a ton of refrigerant cans. I empty them out properly with my recovery machine then I poke open the vent hole and toss them in the garbage. I’d like to get scrap value for them but it’s not worth the headache of cutting the valves off if they still won’t take them.

I am a Junk hauler in E TX who also recycles as much as possible. My local metal yards cannot take ac coils unless I have a license or receipt. Any suggestions as to where I can take the ones I have already taken apart?

Watched a tool this week bring in small engines and proceed to tip them over in the parking lot to drain out the oil and gas. yes, right there in the parking lot - when told to clean his mess up and take his business elsewhere, he threw a fit. Don't be a tool.

@@thatcanada yes. Drain fluids responsibly and DON’t Make a Mess !!!! Drain oil coolant. Flush grey tanks on motor homes. DRY CAR BODIES are vehucles with fluids grained. Gas. Oil coolant battery removed. WET vehucle bodies are not drained. OPERATIVE if SA RECYCLING.

Also u want check with scrap yard for regulated materials that u cant bring in because they need documentation from company where it came from. In Texas any wire got telephone symble or marke Telephone cable for telphome use they wont buy it feom u unless there documentation. Same go for street signs . Man hole covers. Back flow preventers, Only legal way to sell a catalytic converter u need recept from a mechanic shop. Or when u sell a junk car removed from one.

A yard that i use added a radiative scanners on the end of their drive on scales about 5 years ago.. my dad's uncle used to be head caretaker at a well known major county cemetery and he scrapped out brass/bronze markers at a yard out by me and the next time he wanted to do that they turned him down, they couldn't get rid of them.

Rio active scanners at entrance scales now at most yards. BIG PROBLEM metal theft. Funeral Markers. Process and get your information and weigh product. Yard will mail you a check -- MAYBE -- maybe send the police.
