If a Survivor: Rivals season ever happened it would need to include Colby Donaldson and Jerri Manthey. As me personally, I feel you can't have one without the other in Survivor as everytime they've both played, the other has been apart of the same season. And they're one of the first rivals that pop into my head everytime I think of Rivals in Survivor.

Survivor could still do a Rivals season, but isn't that just another version of Heroes vs Villains? Sorta? I liked the theme Winners at War, and I enjoyed the game play. Thanks for saying something in Brandon's behalf. I always liked him. I think he's a pure soul. However, he's emotional and couldn't seem to get a handle on his emotions inside the Survivor playing field. He was so sensitive to corruption, lying and hypocrisy. Shep was absolutely the worst person to be around Brandon. Shep pushes everyone's buttons, maybe knowingly, maybe accidentally.

It's completely possible to have two villains that are rivals, that would be something like Rob vs Russel, both are consider villains and both can be considered each others rival for example.

@@ToothpickSamurai Good point! 👍 Except, Boston Rob and Russell wouldn't be rivals. Lex and Rob would definitely be rivals. The only male Survivor that would be a good rival for Russell is Ralph Kiser, but he passed on this year. R.I.P. He was really able to get under Russell's skin. But all in all, Russell doesn't have any male enemies. He didn't use and abuse male Survivors. He only targeted women. Hmmmm. Well I guess Sandra's would be a great rival for Russell. She's a woman who managed to get under his skin, and set up shop. Ha Ha! He's still bitching about Sandra to this very day. She's the rock in his shoe!

@@ToothpickSamurai Well, maybe sorta! A real villain is Rob, who stabbed Lex in the back. And Lex who stabbed EVERYONE in the back in Survivor Africa. Sandra runs a smarter game than "assassin". I wouldn't say she's a villain, or a hero. Sandra is just plain smart. That's why she's won the $million$ TWICE. Villain don't win twice. They don't even win once in most cases. Sandra is in a league of her own.

All Winners is and always will be a fantastic theme, i think that was better than rivals, and a problem with the cast you gave is that all of their first seasons are before season 23 which would exclude almost half of all survivor players and watchers who came 9 years ago or less wouldnt know who they are

I am honestly glad we got Winners at War. Rivals is not a bad idea but I think there are better ideas. It does sounds like a good cast though. I am not too gone on some of them but some certainly interest me. I would love to see Rupert and Terry get one more chance The question now is does rivals get scrapped or happen for s45/46 or even for s50 though I think for s50 you need to assemble the best cast possible.

Sounds like they wanted to do something big for season 40 and juggled some themes around. Availability is tough so they made hundreds of phone calls. Once they saw that an all winners season was possible, they rolled with that and this ‘rivals’ them was pushed aside.

Hi Russ, The "original" rivals idea is actually way better than winners at war. Like no one wanted to watch Nick, Adam and Wendell again. I think the biggest reason that Jeff didn’t want to do it was because the casting pool wasn’t as big as they would like it to be. Also he didn’t know if they could get certain players they wanted to. I was thinking that WaW was going to happen at Season 50 at the earliest, and either a runners up or a rivals season makes more sense.

The problem with all winners season is they had to have a gender balanced season of all winners. That is sexist and also quite ridiculous since the game does not guarantee a gender balanced set of winners.

Phil and Brandon were never rivals. Brandon was an idiot in his first season and even worse his second time around. Phil was quirky the first time, and surprisingly strong the second time, and outlasted Brandon. They aren’t rivals, Brandon will never be 1% of the man Phil is

If Sugar has issues with depressions, Gods only know he's got issues with anger management. AGAIN, if any of that was real. 6. Nah, you wouldn't need security for Brandon, duh, but he acted like a little oy spouting racial slurs just for shock value. I was surprised on South Pacific with him: he was, what? All of nineteen years old and already a father? Like, do your thing, but was he mentally old enough at that point? I mean for the game, not to be a father. He'd have a support system in you and your family for the kids, of course. Might want to ask the reverse question, though: would Philip play with Brandon? 7. Hey, production, Winners at War was BORING. Nowadays, I can understand the damage-control tendency because of that Dan f*ck-wit, but don't make everything so safe and predictable. They tout Survivor as the grand social experiment, and guess what? Society is messy. Make a mess, catch it on camera, and make it interesting.
