Only a couple weeks before the larvae start to growing little arms. They are pretty fast to develop. Thanks for watching Jakob!

Are left to fend for themselves or do Mom and Dad protect them until they develop past larvae?

Good Q Trina! There is no paternal care for Seastars or any animal that uses dispersal spawning like this - the eggs and sperm just float away, hopefully meet up, and then hopefully survive.
