Yes they have. I was able to find some pictures of what it looked like before they started reclamation and it was vastly different. You're welcome.

The ruins are beautiful, but my enjoyment is tempered by the knowledge that the missions were built by enslaved Native Americans. The Spanish conquerors treated the native peoples with extreme cruelty. Starvation was a common theme.
