Oh, he did. But he missed that the NPC is spawned everytime Greg experiences something "weird". Like getting mind wiped. But because it is external trigger, he didn't find it IN Greg, and removing Rowan didn't fix the source of the bug. Wild Guess: Rowan is personification of all Gregs doubts and self realisation, which is why there were none IN Greg, and why Rowan is trying so hard to get Greg to wake up. Another wild guess: That is why he can't fix it! The process that spawns paranoid Rowan is piece of normal code that purges NPC Greg from undesirable code, bugs and glitches and just puts them into some part of memory that overflows, creating Rowan! There is nothing to fix, the code works correctly, but who would realize the allocated memory slot is too small?

I love the story-line here with Ben's character. At first he was just a normal adventurer, a player looking to co-op with his mates. But then he got a bit too much into crafting gear and the game misread him as an NPC, and now he's stuck in this video game surrounded by players and NPCs, none of whom recognises him. Even the devs are after him now.

I was dead certain that's where this was going to go, since he still presumably has the painting. The NPC who made it was erased. Memories of her aren't supposed to exist anymore, but something she made does. It would be logical for that to cause problems, and Greg would not take the attempted removal of his one shred of proof very lightly.

Petting the dog, Stepping over the log, Trying to set NPCs free - Code Break(last one actual name of episode first 2 are just descriptive of other ep's) AND the Ben goes full NPC ep you referenced. He remembers being real but is he really real or just the avatar remembering the actions of his User. Depends if Epic NPC man takes place in a PC game or some Sword Art Online type VR. And since Ben has already said PC Master Race bitch! in an episode I theorize this is his Avatar that has become self aware. What if Ben came in with a New character and met his old one that is now trapped... How would that play out I wonder?

@@PeterSedesse Alan has actually written a script that would basically be the ‘culmination’ of this story. (There’s a VOD on his Twitch of him reading through it live.) And, trust me, it would not be too close to any other IP that’s dabbled in this concept. It would make an amazing film, but the budget needed is way outside their reach right now.

I'm glad the mad hermit is vaguely sympathetic to him, considering that the other NPCs who notice him often like to mess with him (not that Gregg appreciates the tinfoil advice XD).

Loved how you came back with this idea. A simple reboot would do the trick though it would mean to have to log out every player for a period of time. Unless you have a multiserver service and all the traffic might be sent to one of them whilst the other gets rebooted, then the other way around.
