As someone who hasn't taken a lot of portraits this is a huge help. For games I've really enjoyed playing telestrations with friends recently. Think telephone and pictionary combined then add in adult beverages and you have the makings for a night of laughter.

Regarding focusing on the eyes with the single point, how would you handle it when taking a portrait of a person with lets say a dog which is just a little closer to the lens than the person? Is there something that allows you to focus on two sets of eyes or are you just increasing the depth of field to make sure the dog and person are in focus? I am using a Nikon Z9

I use a canon 90d. You can change the focus point as mentioned in the video but there's also another dedicated focus point button next to the shutter button and you can use the joystick to move it around

I usually try to atleast double it so 24mm= 1/50th and 50mm=1/100th But it obviously depends on the lighting situation. Those numbers are just the minimums

Hello Spyros i have one question to ask you if you could help me.I have a 19 35mm 3.5 4.5 vivitar series lens for canon t3.I think it has no image stabalisation on it.What shutter speed should i use to reduce camera shake because some of the times the pictures are coming out blurry.what shutter speed to use when shooting at both ends 19 mm and 35 mm to get non blurry subject?especially during evening.Thank you

Just try not to go under 160. 800 or so when taking pictures of kids/pets running and playing.

Hello Rakesh! For that lens, to reduce blur from camera shake, try to keep to a shutter speed of at least 1/50 of a second. That should work for any focal length on that lens. If not, then step it up a bit faster to around 1/80. Test at those shutter speeds and see how the images look, and if you're still getting blur, then you may have a calibration issue. Also, if you're taking photos of moving subjects, remember you'll need faster shutter speeds to freeze that motion. :)

@@spyrosheniadis Thank you very much,i will try using those higher shutter speeds that you have mentioned for sure .Hope that will solve the problem :) Another issue i am having is the sun flare when shooting into the light,is it worth buying a screw flower hood of 77 mm to solve the issue or shall i stick with the UV haze filter which i have already with me?Not sure the Uv haze filter is helping me a lot to deal with this issue.By the way will the hood cast a shadow in the pictures i take if I purchase it?Please help me regarding this.

What about how to control focus on my brand new Nikon D3500 for portraits and other staged interior sorts of photos? Sometimes I would want shallow depth of field, like a single object in a room, but sometimes I would want the whole room in focus Like say a bedroom sized room! it's in a retreat center I work for so lots of bedrooms for guests and some fair-sized conference and meeting rooms. lots of fun! Oh and for games, I like Civ5. It is my favourite of the "civilization" series of games. i have not tried civ6 and I am not sure my sclerotic old beastie of a laptop would run it anyway. any sugestions, including other videos of yours would be appreciated.

The 5d Mark2 has 9 AF points grouped around the center. Would locking focus on the eye using the closest AF point, recomposing if necessary and just hoping for the best all you can really do? (Aside from upgrading the body, lol)

Gray cards, like the one you used, are for setting exposure - not white balance. They’ll get you close, but they are NOT color.balanced. Use a WhiBal card or X.Rite Passport.
