totally agree, I picked it as my daily driver already before the rework was announced mainly because I'd like to have the option to do exploration alone (with NPC crew) and the 600i seems more fun than the Carrack, having three massive guns on the hands of the pilot, but now that they announced it will get a med bay, a larger cargo and more unspecified goodies I really can't wait to see it. I think the idea behind it would be to make it a competitor to the Carrack for those people who want to be able to do the same by soloing a ship and do not necessarily want to go the full "pathfinder-deep-space-exploration" route. It will obviously not be as capable as the Carrack, but should still be plenty capable for "lighter" exploration.

@@piribusignitus1520 yeah I get the point of those who wouldn't have picked it without the rework, especially after people point out the glaring and very real problems with the current version and its lack of features, the main reason why I could gloss over them in this current iteration is that it's simply the ship with the highest firepower at the hands of the pilot, and for me the ability to be soloable is essential for a daily driver :D

IMO the Starfarer is a money maker at $300. - $340. is a diamond in the rough ATM. Once the rework happens on it, the price will jump considerably. It might even be able to refine quantainium in the end. As it sits now it will hold near 300 SCU cargo W/out external containers, can haul vehicles, has jump seats and the Gemini has improved armor, shields, weapons and more powerful engines. I will be watching the 600i explorer version closely for news on it's rework as well.

So, I agree crucible will be a great ship to have. That being said I always worry about ships that are capital class. Mainly due to the ships requiring so much crew to actually be run. I think generally people will have 3 - 6 people they play with consistently (assuming they don’t play solo) which makes ships like the indris / endeavor more like a traditional mmo raid. That sounds like way more work then fun. Also, it means your working with peoples schedules and organizing larger groups of people (a big pain in the butt). I also think the 600i will get a lot of improvement to make it at the very least a better value proposition. That’s just my 2 cents.
@inforunners2 жыл бұрын
Hope your right on the 600i. I do think raids in other games is how you need to look at it, with one exception. They limit the number of times per week you can raid in most mmo's. Dont see that happening here. Plus add the rating system for playing with randoms & Ai. I think we need to look at all the systems they are building they are working to change to reliance on just people you know so much. Hope it works out, but worse case scenario is what you describe. Hahaha, you guys listed the fleet that I've been building for almost 2 years now via the CCU long-game, to think that I just started SC in Nov IAE 2020 Free Fly and started my fleet Feb 2021. To be precise that list minus the 2 unannounced are what I have in my Fleet as the Main Necessities (or my minimum target fleet), there are 3 additional ones (but I consider those as optionals), an extra Endeavor (Hope configuration, while the Endeavor in my Main fleet is half Discovery and half Olympic configuration), plus (against your advise) 2 Solo ships, Prospector and Expanse, in case on "Game Release" It might be more efficient to initially earn money using solo ships first to pay fees, stock up on supplies and to crew those bigger ships, rather than to loan the staring funds via an in game bank or something. Basically, just in case it was just so inefficient or too costly, or too rare to find big profit mission or opportunities to take any of the big ships out if only smaller missions or smaller opportunities are available. Of course things could change, and since all my CCUs are un-applied and I still have gaps to fill, if it truly becomes moot to keep the 2 Solo Ships nor the extra endeavor, they arr cheap enough that I could easily melt them to fill the gaps or upgrade from them to one of the bigger ones in my main Fleet. Plus since I am playing the CCU long game, I expect those CCUs to sit in my hangar for really long time, maybe even after that ship releases (in case i eventually didn't really like the ship or something better but cheaper comes), that along with the wipes could get so frustrating.... so that I don't get too grumpy for having to wait on those CCUs I plan to at a minimum get a Prospector (and maybe the expanse, once flight ready) with not so much doing the CCU long game, but much shorter. Another exception is the Merchantman, I might actually apply it before its release, as I am very close to filling it all up, current spend $75, total current savings $425, I'm just $100 remaining (including the $65 LTI Token in buy back, and $35 total in gaps), second reason the prospector (or hoping maybe the expanse too) might fit in its hangar, so i don't have to wait for long claim times, if I go mining and logged off on a different station and logged back on but wanna do cargo, third reason it would be really nice to have a medical bed to respawn to again on a game that is still in Alpha.
@Ychos0272 жыл бұрын
I think buying an Endeavor without modules is also a great idea in terms of gameplay goals. I got a mostly industrial fleet, with Reclaimer, Crucible and BMM, co do the whole Salvage/Repair/Resell gameplay loop, plus a 600i as a daily driver (mainly because I'd rather do exploration solo using NPCs for crew and in case I need to defend myself having weapons in the hands of the pilot would make it more fun than using a Carrack imo.....FIGHT ME! :D) and a few other small things I got just because I like them, but the main goal I'll have at the start will be precisely to use my industrial ship to turn my Base-Endeavor operational by earning the modules in-game, instead of having everything already set and ready to go but without any specific goal in mind.

Something to consider for the earn down thought process is the operating cost of some of these larger ships, the reclaimer for example would require several people to operate at peak effectiveness and you would have to pay those people. It is still better than the alternative but it is something to keep in mind.

I agree with the earn down approach completely, except that I think everyone needs at least one small ship. We don’t know how expensive large ships will be to run. If someone only has large ships, it might not be economically viable to use them until they earn enough to buy a smaller ship. It’s good to have something on hand otherwise you’re stuck borrowing or ride sharing until you make enough to get something practical on a regular basis. The current economy in the game is a poor reference point for how much things will cost. Edit: [grammar]

I pretty much agree with all of your recommendations. I even agree with your decision not to put the Perseus on the list for the same reasons you gave (even if I do think the Perseus is often both overpriced for what it offers and undervalued by the community for what it is.). The only ship you didn't include that I would've included is the Anvil Liberator. When the Liberator was first announced, I was really hard on it. Too hard. I liked the aesthetic (reminded me of that old school Battlestar Galactica style of ship design), but I just didn't really see the benefit of a purely move your ships from this planet to that planet sales pitch that everyone was talking about at the time. And I wasn't about to buy one just so I could have a ship that could transport my Nova. What I figured out later was that I seriously ignored a significant gameplay benefit that I had been looking for, for years. And that was if I wanted to go on a small industrial run, either solo or with a friend or two, how do I bring everything I would need for the full industrial loop. The Idris and Kraken are way out of my price range. The Polaris can only hold one ship. And at bare minimum, I would need to move a Prospector, Expanse and Cargo ship with me and "maybe" one other person. That's when I finally remembered the Liberator and gave it another look. Turns out the Liberator is surprisingly, perfectly suited to that task. In fact, after checking dimensions, scales and taking everything "possible" into account (all subject to change obviously), it looks like you could literally fit a Prospector, Expanse and Apollo on the top deck of the ship. And the vehicle bay is big enough to hold a Gladius and even another Prospector. That means even if you only took the Prospector and Expanse on the Liberator, you would have everything you need (Mining, Refining + generous 400 SCU cargo on Liberator) to go on an industrial run solo if you wanted to. Add an Apollo and you can add medical capacity and possibly even respawn ability to your Liberator for when you're on a deep space run and are either attacked or have an industrial accident (Quantainium). And you can swap roles out easily. Swap out the Prospector for a Vulture for deep space solo salvaging without having to worry about leaving valuable salvage behind due to Vultures small cargo bay. I mean really, the Liberator's cargo bay is actually surprisingly good, only being 56SCU less than a Carrack and that's not even considering additional SCU space on landed ships. Plus the Liberator is able to do all of this, while only requiring a crew count of one to two people to operate. One of the lowest crew requirements of any ship in this size class. Taking everything into account, I have to say that my initial impressions of the Liberator were completely wrong. Used purely as a hauler, the Liberator doesn't offer much. But when used by a solo player or even a very small group of a couple players as an extension to a small industrial operation, the Liberator could (with the right loadout) be absolutely invaluable to just about any long range operation. To the point where I would almost call it a must buy for anyone looking to do play more than one step in an industrial gameplay loop. I still think the Liberator is a little over-priced though. But if you can CCU chain about 100-175 bucks off the price of it, I would say it might be worth the investment for fair number of people.
@inforunners2 жыл бұрын
The liberator is strangely a bit niche but it a weird way. Its flexible but large but with small crew. Can do cargo, ship & vehicle transport. But like we also sadly it relies heavily on others to make money or its a sink. Which took it off the list. Its to a bad ship just not economically sound like the others on this list. The Polaris is simmilar the only reason its on the list its one of the few combat ships the are cheaper than they should be. I see the Liberator as a mini Kraken and thats a good place to be. Exe
@valhallasashes43542 жыл бұрын
@@inforunners I agree. Comparing a Liberator earning potential to an Orion and there just is no comparison. I was thinking more from a utilitarian point of view there. The options it opens up to the player that operates it that no other ship affords. Such as if you're a solo player and you go mining, you can basically only bring a prospector or a mole and that's it... and your restricted by how far you can go out from civilization due to the their fuel range. And especially if you want to Quant mine. But put that prospector on the Liberator along with an expanse and you can go into deep space far away from the heavily trafficked mining locations. Mine with prospector, then refine the load on the expanse then dump it on the Liberator then repeat the process again without having to return to port until you fill the Liberator. Per trip, that means the Liberator has the potential to exponentially increase your earnings significantly. Plus the aforementioned salvage use when used in conjunction with the Vulture. It's the difference between only hull scraping and small components vs being able to also take, say S6+ guns off a derelict. Not that I'm saying you should ever adopt such an option over a Reclaimer. Especially given the Reclaimer's price compared to just a Liberator on it's own. The Reclaimer and Orion are bargains by comparison, but they are purely multiplayer ships. The Liberator's value is in it's ability to afford you options that you otherwise wouldn't have. As for the Polaris, yeah that ship is an absolute bargain compared to other ships in its price range. Especially compared to the Odyssey. The Odyssey has no business being $700. Not compared to the Carrack and certainly not compared to the Polaris. The Polaris and the BMM are the two ships I'm struggling the most to guess where their final prices will land, but I'm certain both will increase further. The BMM will at the very least hit 750$ and even likely higher. But I don't think the BMM will break the $1K barrier. It might just due to alien tax, but I think CIG is and should try to avoid workhorse ships costing more than 1K. Although if I had to pick one workhorse ship I would expect to possibly break the $1K barrier by the time it releases, my money would be on the Orion. The Polaris is harder to judge because it started at the 750 mark and is widely regarded as a bargain. I don't want to assume it will break the $1K barrier but I think its possible due to the higher price combat ships tend to land. Especially if you consider the Polaris occupying the spot the Idris was originally intended to fill.

Rn i think my list would be something like this for "must have" ships depending on price scaling.. *pre watching the video so its just my own thoughts* Starter: Has to be the cutter, perhaps the c8r. The Avenger Titan is solid too. Next would be a cutty black, i cant really think of a ship in that price range that will do everything it can. After id say either a prospector or a taurus. The taurus is such a good ship, basically functions as a "better" cutty black that can even take on ERTs solo if needed, plus good cargo space. Prospector if you like mining ofc. Then it starts to get pretty niche to what sort of gameplay you like, but shoutouts to the Andromeda, Corsair, and MSR. MSR is generally less useful than the prior two, but its a nice ship. Honorable mentions here, The C2 or caterpillar for cargo hauling. With salvage, the reclaimer may be a keeper too. Now for the big buyers... Really nothing compares to the Carrack. It even comes with a "free" pisces and an ursa rover. The carrack can do everything, and is overall probably the "best" all around ship in the game. I dont recommend buying combat ships like the arrow or gladius etc, because they are actually cheap in game, and way too niche in gameplay for their price tags.. if you want to do dogfighting etc, just buy it in game.

I’ve been pondering if there is an ideal number of ships in a multi ship fleet. 1. one Daily Driver, and unlike the IR vid awhile back, I define soloable or small crew, multi-role ships as possible DDers, such as MSR, Connies, Cat, and more under $250 2. one Money maker: Orion, Reclaimer, unannounced X, but only one as it could earn sideways the others as effectively as down which these are rightfully praised for. 3. one Perfect ship (according to you): BMM?, Carrack?, Perseus? whatever 4. one Org Support mid sized crew like the Crucible, Starfarer, Nautilus, Hammerhead, Hercs, Hulls, and others 5. one limited or high crew Org ship: Hope, Kraken, Pioneer, Idris, Javelin, and the like. Ones budget determines how far down the list they get, anything beyond these categories I see as redundant which is less valuable. Crewing ships, I would say, is more valuable than getting more ships. If pledging or collecting is important and in the budget, why not dip below the $250, as you already have the bases covered?

I think the Cutty Black is THE ship. If anything scales better than the Cutty it is good value for money. The Carrack is the price of 6 Cutlasses, but provides more value than 6 Cutlasses.
@KevinPaulWood2 жыл бұрын
I think anyone should have a fast respawn timer ship at live. especially one you can spawn at an outpost. Real life saver. I also think in game there will be a need to buy small ships and scatter them across the verse so you have something "nearby" wherever that may be. But earning those from large ships makes a lot of sense. The final unknown that will have a bearing though is just how expensive will it be to run I am thinking especially something like a Polaris, etc. The likely best advice is find a Profession and grab a mid range in that, say a Mole or Reclaimer etc, giving you a way to earn quick money to get the Orion's running costs in the bank. If you are a Bounty hunter a fighter with some range and punch would be preferable to a frigate or whatever to get your certs done. In other words, sell your small ships yes, but save at least 1 in the profession you like to run from day 1.

No large cargo ships like the Hull D?
@vital-wyn13102 жыл бұрын
My take has always been what can you do “day 1” with a ship in game. The Hull series can net a massive gain for one mission but what options will you have at the start? Maybe the mission is small with a 5/10/20k payout but it costs 50k in fuel? All speculation but until we know more about the cost to run big ships I’m keeping some of my smaller ships.

You harp on how great the polaris is but have you considered crew to run these ships? How many people do you know that could reliably get 15 to 20 plus people together to fully run a polaris? Whereas a nautilus has great armor Bonkers shield redundancy 2 size 7 guns which are enough to hammer down a cap ship, and requires less crew Each crew npc or no means costs so more crew eats down that buy down money.
@algared61312 жыл бұрын
Polaris crew is currently listed as 6-14 on the matrix. Yes, we do consider crew size and play style. If we didn’t we’d just post one fleet and say right there you go. It is always more nuanced than that.

What they need to do with ship packs is allow us to sell individual ships out of the packs for store credit instead of being forced to either keep them or upgrade them

I just don’t see them making it viable to run these giant ships without a decent sized crew. Otherwise eventually everyone is just going to be driving capital ships around. I think picking the right ship will depend on the type of gameplay you want. If you want to manage 10+ people crewing your ship then for sure go big. But ships like the MSR appeal to me because I only want to play consistently with a couple of friends, and with the MSR being fast at least you can attempt to run away from large zergs. Also people likening ships like the 600i and Corsair for pilot controlled guns are dreaming. You won’t get your nose on lighter fighters to be able to hit them, turret guns on larger ships will be the most viable defence to track smaller more nimble ships.

Unannounced Refinery? The Orion has its own refinery, so I don’t see the hole for a cap refiner to fill. Unannounced Gas Miner? The Starfarer, could it be the large refinery and gas miner in the 9-ships-you-never-knew? The Starfarer refuels a wing of fighters, so there is a need for a capital ship refueler. Would that ship harvest, refine, and fuel like the Starfarer? Would that and a Argo refiner partner for the Mole complete the 4 Refining ships? Would an unannounced cap refueler complete the four gas miners along side the Starfarer, DUR, and 100s?

You are High ON Copium is you really believe the Endeavor is going to grow to 4X the Original size, they are not going to give Players a ship that the same size or bigger then a Bengal Carrier. The Javelin is currently the biggest ship players will be able to own for now, so expect the Endeavor to be at least around that Big if That. Look at the Galaxy's medical module that thing has 6 Medical bed and actually has room for more so double or triple that for the Endeavor and that probably about as much room as it needs since the rooms can go up and down not just the 1 floor the Galaxy has.

Have you guys ever talked about game packages? Would be interesting to hear your views on them, both the packages available to regulars and for us concierge people. For example, how useful is an Inceptor Pack given it has 18 lowish value ships with LTI (not that it's hugely important of course) and a bunch of other flairs. Is that better than the Company Pack, or a Convoy Pack? Or are packs themselves just a bad idea as the inconvenience outweighs the savings?
@jeanwinter52752 жыл бұрын
Both Inceptor Pack and Convoy pack make you spend another load of cash on upgrades, as most of their content is not worth keeping. Company Pack, on the other hand, has only 5 ships, from which 3 are good money-makers, plus you have a "free" Starfarer and a Crucible for an Org. The Pack costs 1700usd, whereas all the ships combined are at 2025usd - basically a free Starfarer (300usd). You can upgrade it to Hull-C for 50 bucks (yet another best money-maker)
@inforunners2 жыл бұрын
In short over time they are getting worse. They lock you in and are hard for you to move around within the pack. Next week show if we do it next week will dive a little into this. Exe
