What shoes am I wearing these days? Adidas AX3, Columbia Horseshoe Ridge.

This video is intended to highlight the wearing experience of these shoes over the past several weeks, not an in-depth review. These two pair of shoes offer totally different wearing experiences. Simply, the Adidas are true hikers, the Columbia's are trail runners. Different feeling and wearing of both shoes.

Another great informative shoe review👍 Didnt realize that Columbia acquired Montrail. Ive got a solid pair of Montrail Mountianeering boots from like 20 years ago and have had a few different pairs of Montrail scrambling shoes in the past and they were great. Might have to check Columbia Montrails out. Also gotta agree on the Adidas as I bought a pair and liked them but the toe box was just too narrow for me and I ended up giving them to a buddy with a slightly smaller narrower feet then me and he seems to really like them. I just cant deal with narrow toe boxes any more im over it lol. Go Keens most of the time now for that reason.

I am getting a new pair of Adidas because the sole wore down pretty fast. That is the trade off for the really grippy Continental rubber sole. A sole with more carbon will last longer, but won't have the sticky grip on wet rock that these do. Love 'em.

Hi Douglas - great video. I came across your other video review of the Swift R2. Aside from the normal laces what are the differences between the GTX AX3 and GTX Swift R2? For hiking which would you go for ? Or would you buy something else? Thanks.

Thank you sir! Both are waterproof, they are very similar… R2 having the zip ties and tend to pull tighter. Both have the same feel and performance to me! Both good shoes. If looking for waterproof then these are good shoes. I’m loving the La Sportiva Wildcat. Great comfortable shoes. Non waterproof but it is summer! Cheers!!!

I think this shoes are for hiking only, i just bought ones and ran with them in a forest with a lot of rocks, i found them not confortable and not wide enough to make the run easier. Tbh running with my old regular running shoes was much better and confortable.

Absolutely! I live in Florida and they can get relatively warm and they do have a hard base to them so perhaps they’re not the most comfortable, I believe they will hold up for you and they’ll be just fine!

Agree with all the faults, the most uncomfortable, unstable shoe I have ever owned. The hard flexing sole cause heel slip. I found a way to modify the sole that it flexes a bit easier because Adidas won't assist. Adidas in our country won't recognize or accept their design faults that it is really a failed product. I have had and still have the AX 2 that is a totally different shoe. Quite honestly don't buy them, there are plenty of other good and better products on the market.

Is it possible to buy the AX2 anywhere? I had the Adidas Terrex AX2R mid GTX with the traxion sole and adiprene. Those boots changed my life. I bought the Terrex Swift R2 GTX and it’s nothing like the AX2R. Has anyone worn the AX4? I wonder if that would be slightly softer?
