Hill sprints is my favourite activity when I'm in the Netherlands.

The most conditioning powerlifters do was that one time they were in a rush and they did a superset of bench and rows but the work capacity wasn’t there and they got rhabdo.

Conditioning for the powerlifter is walking to the donut shop instead of catching an Uber

Being late out the door and having to bike like a madman 3-4 times a week works pretty well. Noticed my VO2max must have gone down due to only having digital lectures for >half a year and not working either. After one week of biking to work 5-6 times a week, around 5.5km, during summer I noticed a nice improvement in stamina after only a couple of days. Even tho I don't work but only go to lectures 1-2 times a week I can now keep a substantially higher tempo when I bike, which is good. My point is: It is quite easy to increase your stamina to an ok level and keep it there and being late is a great day to get some "free" conditioning.

Can confirm. I once tried a phase of 2-3x weekly hill sprints as my sole form of cardio (in addition to lifting of course)... completely overloaded my recovery capacity, and it wasn't that easy on the joints either

Moving events from strongman are great to benefit both strength (and stability) and conditioning (especially with shorter rest periods), too. If you want to take a 2 birds with one stone approach. Personally, I've also done well just having very dense sessions with short rests in general but obviously, that doesn't work with every kind of powerlifting programme.

Finally, someone that has a overall athletic approach. Not that "do sprints only as cardio" BS that is being sold to strength "community" people. You gotta have aerobic base, do some rowing/running offseason to get that heart pumped, have them batteries loaded for more volume and overall performance. Great stuff guys!

Unrelated but thoughts on using equipment like slingshot on bench press? I personally can't see the point in using it but also I don't know anything about it lmao

Sh*t talk: first off 17° for summer? Wtf! That can't be classed as a hot day. Second, I was the same with pizza until I went to Rome, same with lasagna. Over there it's just next level. Should do more sh*t talk on yt. They are too fun to listen to.

Would hitting mitts or a heavy bag count as acceptle cardio/conditioning?

Yes

If you could do it for 20 mins then it would in they way they mean, but if you know how to work a heavy bag multiple rounds of 20mins would be a brutal workout. You'd certainly increase your aerobic capacity, but I think there they are talking more LISS style training, something with a low to moderate intensity. Steady skipping is good for this if you have good rhythm, but it does light up your calves and Achilles tendons.

As a boxer I can say it’s indeed great conditioning…but to be honest for a strength athlete it might not be worth it…
