We use cloth diapers, and I’ve found that the biggest reason she wakes up after sleeping a few minutes in the crib or bassinet is that she’s wet her diaper…. Sometimes it takes like half an hour after a feed for her to pee, and she doesn’t like feeling wet. I just ordered some stay dry liners, so hopefully that will help.

Hi, our baby is 2 months atm. We have serious problems with the naps during the daytime. If we put him down in his bassinet (or any other sort of bedding) he will keep looking around for hours. If we try to cover the crib by closing the curtains or using a veil, he'll start crying. And our baby cries really hard (blue/purple with breath holding moments)... The only way he'll sleep is by using a baby carrier and walking the stairs for 10-20 times. When he's finally asleep, we can't stand still, sit down or lay down most of the time. So we'll walking/dancing most of his nap time. This of course is enormously tolling for our physical (and mental) health. The nights were mostly the same, but have fortunately changed. About two weeks ago he started to sleep between us in the bed for 4-6 hours. All advice is welcome! Thanks :)

Often it can be just because of the time you are settling them in bed. They need to be perfectly ready for bed to settle easier. Around 8 weeks they go through a sleep regression where their Newborn sleepiness is starting to wear off and they start to ‘wake up’. They may start resisting settling, not settling in their bed, night waking wanting to party, early waking and/or cat napping if their awake periods aren't long enough as they start needing more awake time between naps than they have previously been doing. This builds up enough sleep pressure to encourage them to sleep longer. We would be aiming on 4hrs 15mins - 4hrs 35mins approx. of day sleep across 3 naps and the awake time between naps would be around 1 hr 45/50mins. Having the shhh noise playing can really help calm them for sleep. Make sure your little one is swaddled. Settling them in a dark room with the shhh noise playing will also really help with the settling and staying asleep.

Hi! Thank you for all your useful videos. My 5mo has a good morning nap around 9.30 for half an hour, a 2 hour nap between 12.30-2.30 and a shorter nap in the afternoon. She used to sleep solidly through lunch up until about 2 weeks ago (she goes down fully awake for all naps and drifts off), but now she wakes every day between 1 -1.30 and rarely settles herself. I know she can self settle so I don’t know why she wakes up crying every day now?! She sleeps pretty well overnight, self settles between cycles, we do dream feed, plus one feed but she wakes at 5am on the dot (tends to self settle) then is unsettled between 6-7am. Thanks in advance.

Hi Belinda, if shes waking for the day around 6am or is unsettled for that 6-7 am patch she might need to go down earlier for her morning nap and have a little longer there. Her lunch nap may be affected due to overtiredness. If shes having the shorter lunch nap too she will need a longer afternoon nap to catch up. Our Baby Program will be able to help you on track www.littleones.co/products/baby

Thanks so much, I’ll try getting her up a bit earlier and having a longer morning sleep. It’s always so hard to know whether it’s over or under tiredness!

Hi there, You might need to start working on ensuring your baby's awake times are spot on - This will help to ensure she's not under or overtired which might cause that false start or catnapping. We'd recommend about 2 hours between naps. Ensure her room is super dark when you are popping her into bed too as that will help her settle and stay asleep.

Hi, just want to know if the challenges faced when starting to sleep train babies at different ages is the same as those who sleep train their babies since 3mo?

Hi Charlotte, The older your baby or toddler is the more they may protest the change as they've had longer sleeping the way they are currently. We have a variety of methods to suit different parenting styles and child temperament.

Hi Jessica, She may have developed some strong associations for sleeping and may need some gentle guidance toward self-settling. We believe in a holistic approach to your baby's sleep which starts by aligning their day naps so they're napping at the right times and for the right lengths to lead to a more settled baby come nap, bed time and overnight. This has a positive impact on your baby being able to settle in the first place; an over or under tired baby will find it hard to settle to sleep and therefore learn to self settle. From there we have several gradual methods to guide your baby to this new skill that work with your parenting style and your baby's association. Our Programs contain a tonne of comprehensive information, schedules and detailed notes to get your baby's sleep back on track www.littleones.co/products/older-baby

Great advice around the burping again during/after playtime and before bed. Any tricks for those middle of the night feeds? My little one always falls asleep while I burp him and I can never get one out of him after he's asleep!
@littleonesbabysleep
@littleonesbabysleep 4 жыл бұрын
Those night ones can be tricky. Usually overnight they dont take in as much wind as they're more relaxed, if he's not waking soon after you pop him back to bed there then I wouldnt worry too much but if he is try to keep him more awake through the feeding so he will be easier to burp.

Any tips for winding a baby especially in the night. 8 week old who wakes 10 mins after put down-all night. I can hear that it’s wind as he grunts and moans but I just can’t get wind up without him crying and protesting. Breastfeeds and then whilst I try to wind he just wants to suckle again! I end up giving up settling him in cot and weirdly he sleeps without much disturbance from wind when he co sleeps.

Hi Jennifer, so waking every 10 mins all night or are you managing to get some wind up and then hes settling for a period again? You might need to try a different burping position, perhaps the one your using isnt effective for your LO. But if really unsettled all night wind apparent wind and crying when you are getting it up, that sounds a little refluxy to me.

Little Ones Once he’s Asleep he’l usually wake after 10-30mins, I’ll try to wind again but he often just cries so I give him another small feed, he falls asleep, I put him down and then the cycle starts again. After a few times of this happening, and me being exhausted, I then lie him next to me and he feeds to sleep and is then more settled on his side in our bed
