THANK YOU SO MUCH for taking the time to create this video and share your wealth of knowledge!!! I just bought a 2017 RED 10th generation Type R with only 7,400 miles on it!!!! However, I came across your video because I purchased my vehicle with the original Brembo pads on it. Im assuming with 7,000 + original miles along with the original OEM factory pads….new ones will be needed in the near future?!! I’m just not sure how soon the original factory sold Brembo pads will last. I guess only time will tell!!!

Your pads, unless they were used on the track, are just fine, take the wheel off and see how much pad is left on it, if it isn’t much change them

Would there be an issue using different front and rear pads? I was going to go with the Hawk Street up front and Hawk Ceramic in the back but don't know if that would cause any problems. No tracking as of now. Just spirited street driving

I just put brembo brakes on my st. Came from a focus rs (which came stock on rs). They literally look the same as what is on the type r down to every bolt and pin. Guessing they are same. Rs they where only available in blue and my car is red so I painted them. These come in red and if they are the same that would’ve saved me some time.

Hi There, Thank you for making this video. I have been researching for brake pads for the rear and found this video really helpful. I am probably gonna go for the HAWK High Performance Street 5.0 brake pads you recommended in the video however I was wondering what's your opinion on the Project Mu brake pads? I don't mind the dust and noise but would like the brake pad to be heat resistive. I don't drive it hard very often but every now and then I do have a little fun around the hill and therefore would like a pair of good quality pads for the car. Thank you :)

Got a question what do you recommend for rotors, solid, slot ect... Thanks in advance
@FlyinGato
@FlyinGato Жыл бұрын
Solid rotors, no slots, not drilled, these are the most cost effective, and best rotors for any track car. Two piece rotors, again with solid surface, are the absolute best, as it isolates some of the heat away from the hub. Hope this helps!

Hey Elias what do you think about project Mu PS F906/R385 (Front&Rear)? Its time for a breakpad change and not sure what to go with. I'm watching the vid now. I mostly street and spirited driving. I also drive NY->Poconos a a dozen weekends a year.

oh, hey, I live in the poconos! the Project Mus are good pads for sure, but if you're street driving/spirited and don't mind the dust the Project Mus create, you should look at the stoptech sport pads, similar performance, less price. I have them listed in the description.

I changed my rear pads and now my cars computer is constantly tripping warnings about the electronic ebrake….I followed the Honda procedure for replacing pads without using a computer but it just won’t fix it. The dealer insists the Hawk rear pads are too think….? Which seems like nonsense to me. I just don’t know what to do aside from surrendering it over to the dealer, along with my wallet.

@@FlyinGato I've never tried any other than the Ford oem for my front brembos. They haven't failed me yet on the track and still giving me confidence each lap. I hear and see a lot of hype around hawk and gloc and have yet to try them as a dedicated track pad for myself. Any experience comparing pads to winmax? Any thoughts or insight for brake pad ratings?

What pads come stock on the Type R?
@TassieLorenzo
@TassieLorenzo 2 жыл бұрын
Stock is the Ferodo 4495 in the front. It has a DOT friction code of FF which means it falls in the band mu ~ 0.35-0.45. They are probably similar to the aftermarket Ferodo DS Performance pads, so one step below the Ferodo DS2500.

@@TassieLorenzo thanks. They make so much noise and leave so much brake dust. I hate them.
@TassieLorenzo
@TassieLorenzo 2 жыл бұрын
@@TC-rx3hv Oh ok, lol. That's really normal for semi-metallic sports brake pads though. FlyingGato mentioned a bunch of ceramic brake pads that will fix that, but Honda (or Brembo) put them on the car because they allow it to handle track duty out of the box (we'll leave the cooling issues aside!). Remember when Nismo took the normal Ferodo Brembo brake pads out of the 370Z Nismo and put comfort ceramics in from the factory instead? Car and Driver lost the brakes and crashed the car on their "Lightning Lap" challenge. 😬 There are sports ceramic brake pads you can get though too, they'll probably be a bit wooden when cold compared to semi-metallics though which I guess is why they go for semi-metallics as stock so that they also work well cold on a street car (while having the heat resistance as well).
