Swap both your rear tyres with your front tyres bro. If the vibration switch location to your steering, it means you have bad tires. This is the only way to proof that you have defective new tyres. Sometimes the aluminum with enough vibration can weld itself to the wheel or sometimes from heat cycles the expansion then contractions of diameters will squeeze the 'cheaper' aluminum into the wheel. The fk8 won't tell you the tire pressure because honda is using an indirect tpms system that dosnt use sensors, but the abs sensor on each hub measures how long it takes to make one revolution, and if its much different then the other ones, then it knows there is a pressure issue, that goes for overinflation also, thought you might want to know. Do you have factory or aftermarket lugs? I’m not sure of your car but Honda’s have had ball seat lugs on all the older cars I’ve had. And all aftermarket wheels have conical seats on them. That’s how they center the wheel with the cone shaped lugs and wheel seats. They are called lug centric design as oppose to hub centric design like many BMW or German made vehicles. You can also be extra careful when putting the lugs on to not tighten one down all the way to the wheel but get it close and then get another close and you’ll actually see the wheel get centered. As others have said rotate the wheels to see if vibration moves to the steering wheel. Lastly, the road force balance tells the installer where to mark the tire to rotate on the rim. If they didn’t let the air out, break the beads and spin the tires they didn’t do anything but print some numbers out. I know this because I’ve been into cars all my life and worked for Discount Tire for 10 years. I couldn’t tell you how many tire wheel combo’s I’ve had in the last 30 years of modding and drag racing and road racing Hondas and other imports. Probably 100+ Good luck.

Honestly I think it's a quality control thing with the tire manufacturers as of late. I'm having the same issue on a 24 Outback Wilderness that I threw some Falken Wildpeak Trails on last month. I've had them balanced twice, last time was road force balanced at the Subaru dealer. It's not a vibration in the steering wheel, but a pulsation in the floorboard and seats at 65-70 mph. Car had 300 miles on it when I swapped tires. I'm about to file a warranty claim with Tire Rack myself. Good Luck!

For sure. I went down an online tire conspiracy rabbit hole a couple weeks ago. LOL Apparently certain manufactures will source and produce tires from plants in different countries. Falken has a plant in Japan and Taiwan and the enthusiast's will seek out the Japanese variant because they historically have less issues than the Taiwanese. I'd imagine Michelin does the same. Tire Rack has such a huge reach in the market makes you wonder if, in order to maximize profit and keep prices competitive, they source their tires from the cheapest plant. It just sucks because in both our cases we're talking brand new wheels that we know damn well are most certainly true, so it automatically rules them out as the culprit. I feel like a lunatic when I return asking for another balance or rotation because it's still not right.

First of all. That's not where you put a jack stand under the lug/rotor. That's not going to stop the car from falling and it will damage the rotor if it does. With the tires being out of balance there's a trick to pop the tires off the bead and rotate them 180 degrees on the rim and inflate them, then try and balance them again. Another thing that might be the problem is the alignment on the car is setup for the stock rims. Could maybe be affecting it those aren't the exact same size rims as stock are they?

I have TE37’s on my Tacoma and I bought KO2 tires at America’s tires I had to go back twice. 1st time not even going 40 mph I got steering vibrations and called let them know what was going on and they said some bs line oh we just installed some on a 4Runner and they had hub centric rings, nope the wheels are specifically designed and made to be hub centric not lug centric. So don’t fall for their bs. So I went back and yes they were off so they rebalanced the tires and once again fail. I called a shop down in socal that works with KO2’s and te37 and they said if they don’t have this machine they will never get the wheels dialed in. So I ended up going to a local mom and pops and done correctly. So that where I go every tire rotation and balance from now on.

Great now I’m a nervous wreck. I just bought way cheaper set of Enkei wheels for my FL5. Fitment Industries didn’t mention the hub size, but they specifically say the wheels I bought would fit and work on my CTR. I guess I will see soon enough.

Enkei is one of the most reputable wheel manufacturers. When you mention fitment they mean it as in your width/offset not your hub bore. You have to get the hub rings on your own, that’s why it’s always good to do research.

what wheels did you buy? you can look up the hub center bore diameter for those and also for the FL5. I bet the hub bore is the same on the FL5 as the FK8
@chrissimmons9969 Жыл бұрын
@@Camhill182 Enkei TS-5. The centerbore is 72.6mm. I do believe the center hub of the FL5 is 64.1mm. If I buy center rings should they be specifically 72.6 to 64.1 fitment?
@Camhill182 Жыл бұрын
@@chrissimmons9969 yes they should. As you saw in the video, I tried 64.1 to 73.1 and they didnt fit. So you need 64.1 to 72.6

I've just got some Enkie gt02c for my fk8 and also had rings. It's running lovely and smoothly. Continental contact sport 7 tires all round.

when installing aftermarket rims do you need to swap the tpms sensors?

You may have fucked up your tires by driving them with without the hub centric rings.

Audi is nice. Genesis GV70 would be better to save money and get more for your money.

We do like the Genesis GV70! Need to go test drive one. No, I probably wont work at all this week

they're still pretty expensive for the used ones because they're so new.

Does she have to get an Suv? My wife has the Audi Rs3 hatch and she LOVES it! Super nice car, fun, spacious, good for the kids, dct transmission... Bit pricey but they retain their value better than the Q5

Put Bmw x3m on the list she might like it 😅

@nattpheomthawee5786 don't know a ton about BMW, but, I do like the X3 M.. But if he can, he should really try to steer clear of larger displacement engines, because trust me, I work in the energy sector, and I'm telling u, as things are progressing, gas will be unaffordable for most Americans in the years to come. And that is by design of our Government. Filling a big v6 or v8 will be brutal. I think the x3 comes in 2.0l, so that would be a nice option.

I've been having the same issue for months ever since I got new wheels, I have Works and they claim they are already hub centric...re balanced twice and still small vibrations :/
