Also the enlarged surfaces and the canards were specifically designed to give it enough lift to launch from the Kuznetsov class. They are *NOT* designed to perform enhanced maneuvers. The Su-34 however is. So you really won't get much of an advantage over the 27 or 27SM, *PLUS* you have all the added weight of the reinforced landing gear and the tailhook, so it really doesn't mean a damn. Let alone, no R-77, no R-27EA (requires same radar for R-77), and no guided AGM weaponry. It should be a squadron vehicle, or added just for fun after the Yak-141, but it's not a serious top-tier lineup release. It shouldn't have come any later than the F-14B if it was going to be a serious counterpart for it's release time. Su-30SM is the way to go, and if TVC and Canards that actually function is "game breaking" (which is bullshit), then add the MiG-29K.

They always launch a flagship update for the winter season because consumer spending is highest around the holidays. They're gonna go big because they're greedy. Hopefully, Russia doesn't get shafted with a Su-33 to compete with the F-18s. What I'm hoping for is that they release the F-18 A or C variant and F/A-18E for the U.S. and the Su-33/Su30 for Russia. Those are high hopes, though, and I wouldn't take any of that as gospel.

The 33 can’t pull as many G’s as the 27 because of the structure limits of the folding wings. Hope gaijin fixes the 27 fm and implements that disadvantage properly to the 33.

The Su-33's success in War Thunder will depend on whether Gaijin uses the update to improve the gameplay of naval aviation. Including multiple different aircraft carriers for the appropriate nations and worthwhile targets for anti-ship missiles would make naval aircraft worthwhile and unique to play. As it stands, the Su-33 will largely go the way of the Yak-141 where few people take it out to actual games and instead mostly fly it in test flights to mess around with the carrier. The J-15 will be fine as it has been modernized to the point where it can compete in top-tier, and its extremely unlikely the Su-33 will enter the game without the J-15.

I don't give a f*ck what anyone says. It looks cool, and I'm glad it will be here eventually, but it is NOT going to be viable on release. If the USSR is going to get a plane that is on par with the F-18C and the F-15E and the EFT (assuming it comes) the USSR/Ru *NEEDS* the Su-30SM. Also, the Russian Navy flies Su-30SM's from it's naval airbases, so it technically fits the theme.

It's performance will depend on which version they bring in the game, there's the normal one that's just like the Su-27S, but in the 2010s they modernized the Su-33s they have (i think less than 30) to the level of Su-27SM3/Su-30SM. Edit: 20 SU-33 are modernized, 4 are not modernized.

Su-33 looks kinda op for 13.0, if implemented correctly, but at the same time, every aircraft on 13.3 and higher has access to fox3s. But gaijin can always butcher flight model and cut aircrafts armament due to "balancing reasons" as they did in the past, and su33 will be slightly different premium variant of regular su27

Performance of Su-33 is definitely worse than Su-27. Because of simple reason - it's grown heavy during airframe strengtheneing for carrier use, from Su-27's 16750-17000kg to Su-33's 19600, that's why it got canards (because center of weight got changed compared to Su-27), which add to drag. Engines are only 300kgf more powerful each, which is nowhere near enough to offset increase in weight. Radar is the same as on Su-27, so don't expect Fox-3 missiles, and at most you'll get same RWR as Su-27SM and guided A2G munitions. Chinese J-15, being modern Su-33 derivative, shares mostly same weight woes, but gets much more potent radar (likely to be the best in the game), Fox-3 and modern A2G.
