hello! im a new player and a new rhythm game player who happened to get average/good-ish in two months. a few days ago, i changed my note speed from 10.0 to 10.4 after seeing if 11.0 would improve, and honestly. IT CHANGED THINGS- it doesnt seem like much but that slight speed tweak was SO helpful, honestly. please adjust your settings its a miracle.

I still struggle some with the managing of note speed vs. offset, and can't figure out if I'm too slow or if it's genuinely my speeds. I'll turn on the early/late and give this a try!
@laoloserr10 ай бұрын
A general rule I personally like to follow Is if my offset is higher than 3.0 in any direction, then my speed is the issue that needs to change lol Unless youre playing through some really bad speakers, theres no reason you should be at -8.0 offset just to hit perfects 😂

10.5 is the most comfortable note speed for me personally. I've been playing Project SEKAI for just two months, and I initially started to play on a very low speed because I thought it would help me see what I was supposed to tap next. But soon I switched to hard, and the charts looked very confusing, especially to a beginner. Then I decided I wanted to FC one song I liked, but I couldn't really do it, so I started gradually increasing the note speed until it was fast enough for me to see the intervals between notes, but not too fast so I could process what's going on on my screen. I still feel like this is the perfect speed for me.
@topiaz6 ай бұрын
I personally really couldn't stand any note speeds above 10, so I stood at around 8 speed until eventually getting to my ideal 9.5 to 9.7 range

my note speed is 11, when I started playing project sekai, it was 6. I thought that the correct way to play was with speed 6 and I would get worse if I changed my speed until someone more experienced told me that it's much easier to play higher note speeds. Over the next few weeks, I tried testing my limits with note speeds by increasing it by 0.1 or 0.2 every few songs. Over time I realized that increasing my note speed led to getting better scores than I usually would. And now I usually use 11 speed and I think it's my perfect speed.

I only figured this out very recently on my own and I’ve been playing for a year or two now 😭 Thank you for making this video, i hope new players find it. I play at 10.7 now, just increased it yesterday after seeing a lot of earlys. At first, my main motivation for increasing my note speed was because I felt embarrassed all my friends and the KZbinrs i watched played at 11, so i started challenging myself by steadily upping it. It was a fun process, tbh

@charliemayfilms15509 ай бұрын
At first I didn’t realise there was benefit to note speed, so I just played at the default 6 and I beat every hard I had with it, then I turned it up to 7, and it was barely different, so I turned it up to 8 after a little while, and a little while later it still felt I could go faster so I went to 9 and was pretty comfortable. Then I turned on the early/late and I was skewing way early, so I adjusted it to 9.5 and now I’m leaning a bit late… but it’s dependent on the song. I’m sticking w it for now tho cause hey at least I corrected the heavy early.

I'm generally really inaccurate so in about 1.4k perfects I would get about 7-20 greats depending on the level. If I go 0.1 below or 0.1 above my normal speed I get a bunch more greats so I know my natural speed right now is a good one for me but, When I first started I played at 6.0, I didn't pay attention to the speed settings because I thought the note speed was fine. About 3-5 months after playing at 6.0 I decided to change it to 10.0 right away, it was actually a good idea. By the time I was 3-5 months into the game it was hard for me to get notes because I would hit it too fast. Changing to 10.0 while it was a bit too fast, I was still able to somehow catch the long notes coming at me. After playing on the speed for a while it became my normal speed. I eventually went up by 0.1 every time until I hit around 10.8 as my best speed. My performance on songs got better. Eventually I decided to try and change my speeds again using the same method of going 0.1 or 0.2 up. I eventually landed on 11.1 as my natural speed. My normal speed now is 11.2 and every so often an 11.3! I used to advertise playing Project Sekai to a lot of people as a game suggestion, many of them started playing but stopped early on. My first ever recommendation to them was always "I suggest changing your speed going either up or down 0.1 because 0.2 and 0.3 make a big difference when changing your speed. Some of my friends had to drop down to 3.8, some 6.6, and others bumped up to 10.5, it just depends on how fast our eyes can see the notes and how fast our brain can comprehend the notes coming. Also the suggestion of look to the top of your screen and your fingers will move to the note while your brain processes the next notes coming in!

So i turned it down by one and i got tons of earlys and misses bc of that. (Master and expert) And when i play expert on 11.3 i am still too early. I keep switching between these 2 speeds and i think because of that i cant quite adjust to either.

Timing(offset) is just for adjusting audio latency For example if youre playing with wireless earbuds, theres going to be a slight delay, so you would need to adjust the timing towards the negative side to align the notes with the music ! If youre playing with the built in speakers or using wired headphones, i always recommend leaving timing at 0 and learn to play with the default. Especially for new rhythm gamers who havent brought over an offset preference from playing other games
