I can't believe Slenderman legitimately scared me as a kid. One of the first times a video game legitimately filled me with dread. Remember watching Pewdiepie screaming his head off. I also recall one guy's post back in the day who said he wasn't scared and neither was a friend he showed. She said he "Looked like an egg in a suit." I get her sentiment now. He really does just look like an egg in a suite. I'd fold him like an omelet.

I think slenderman's horror comes from his Eldritch nature. Teleportation, mind games, the feeling of being stalked and something watching/toying with you... He might look goofy but it's his powers that horrify me specifically. I don't like the idea of something driving me insane, but I guess he could look more formidable lol

As for hownhe kills you, the only thing stated in the original story was that bodies were found impaled on tree branches with their organs in zip lock bags. There's no Eldritch anything to him, he's just random.

@@alastor8091 It's not the original concept of slenderman that sticks in my mind, it's The Operator from Marble Hornets. It's the fact that if you see him, it's already too late to save yourself, your knowledge of his existence has marked you for death. But he's not just going to kill you outright. He'll jumpscare you and disappear, knocking you out. You wake up hours later with a splitting headache and a nasty cough, if any footage of the incident exists you'll find it to be horribly corrupted. You'll begin to see him everywhere, watching, following, always just out of reach. You'll see his symbols everywhere and begin to suspect people of doing his bidding, and it begins to seem like the severity of your cough is related to his presence, ensuring that not only will you find it much harder to flee or defend yourself, but also that every stray cough raises your paranoia. You're going to slowly become more paranoid and antisocial until the point where you're a reclusive maniac who nobody listens to, and it's only at that point that you'll either be driven to suicide or worse yet, just... disappear. With no clue of what happened to you, except for a few fevered drawings and a circle with a cross through it.

What about the secret hide and seek sequence with Slenderman? I think I remember, but you have to head to the house, grab the flashlight, activate the radio, interact with the swingset, then the Missing Child poster. Do this 3 times and it'll send you to an extremely distorted map with the camera freaking out

from what I remember, the only thing you needed to collect was the missing child poster and then start over again. Problem with the newest version of the game (the one this video is using that also uses a completely different engine) is that when you restart the game it won't save the amount of times you've done this. How I found that out was by looking at the top right corner, where you can see the time. In the original version, the time would start at zero upon startup and keep going regardless if you jumped between chapters, but in this newer engine version it will always restart back to 0 if you try doing this. By seeing this I made the conclusion that the level just doesn't exist in the newer version anymore. At least that's how I was able to figure it out. Maybe someone else has figured out how to get to that secret level in the newer version.

From what I saw, Charlie and Slender Man got new character models. So did Lauren… Ish. She has a new arm model, and the flashlight is different. Kate seems to be the only one without a new model, and even then, she _has_ a new model. It’s just used as Lauren’s dead body.

Yes, yes, YES! I love all these little looks to show how the game actually works out of view! There's a few things I did already know, like the cat pictures in the tower and the model for CR actually being Kate's proxy model from "Into The Abyss" (slowing down my gameplay footage of it, I could see several similarities between the running CR model and Kate's model and I just assumed they reused it), but something I didn't know about was the model used for Lauren at the end of the game. I was fully expecting it to just be a pair of legs, but no; it seems that it was actually a WIP for a reworked Kate proxy model. Similarly to how Charlie got a newer and better model, Kate would've as well. And personally, I really wish that they went with this design in the finished game. The face looks genuinely freakier and more unhinged, the hair more closely resembles her hair when she's not a proxy, and it would be overall more intimidating to see her running at you like that. I do wonder why it didn't get used for her in the finished product (hopefully not because it was deemed "too scary"), but fingers crossed that that might change in an update.

14:06 funnily enough, whenever this game first came out there wasn't any loading screens, so as soon as you'd walk over a loading zone you'd just stop for a few seconds as it loaded in around you, which is why the end of the hallways looks the exact same while not existing at all. A downside to this especially with that elevator was people had a really hard time with falling through the floor as soon as they stepped over the loading zone. Pretty sure there's still an achievement in steam for falling through the floor and getting jumpscared because of it lol.

In regards to finding random models under the map its pretty common in map development between forgetting you left a model somewhere that you had edited so it was easier to copy and place where you need it to accidentally losing it when you screw up coordinates you will find stuff like that in almost every game.

The charlie nightmare with the tendrils and the hospital afterwards as his father are two things I fully do not remember. I think I barely recall coming across the teddy bear and going through a nightmare sequence, but I can't be sure it was the same one or not to be honest. I also barely remember the CR section. The hospital is the most surprising thing, I suppose the game has had updates that I just never knew about.

Hospital is newest one for 10 year remake. The Charlie one you're talking about is "Memories" which of course shows what happened to him. But that not as new. That one was years ago, along with Homestead which was CR. If I recall correctly, it was around 2016 or 17.
