What Slovenians used to say? Stari Slovenski pregovori

Few old and sometimes bizarre Slovene proverbs and sayings translated to English (literally). Let us know what is the most weird or unique Slovene saying that you've heard of :)
Slovenski pregovori in reki (Slovene proverbs and sayings)
1. Ženo spoznaš po moževi srajci. (Judge the wife by the husband's shirt)
2. Delo je zdravilo. (Work heals)
3. V jajcu išče dlake. (Looking for a hair in the egg)
4. Saj še vsi prsti na roki niso enaki, pa bi bili otroci v družini! (Even fingers of one hand are not the same; why would children in one family be)
5. Denarja ima več ko ciganska družina grehov. (To have more money, than a Gypsy family have sins)
6. Ko si 20 let star, če nisi lep, ne boš nikoli; ko si 30 let, če nisi močan, ne boš nikoli; ko si 40 let, če nisi bogat, ne boš nikoli. (When you are 20 years old and you are not beautiful, you will never be; when you are 30 year old and you are not strong, you will never be; when you are 40 year old and you are not rich, you will never be)
7. Kdor rad kruh je, je zdrav. (Who eats bread is healthy)

Nice animation! We have some similar in Polish but put in completely different words! For example, the one with egg - we say "szukać dziury w całym" which would roughly translate to "search for a hole in the whole".

Lots of those phrases are not used anymore, as Slovenians are open minded and tolerant nation, but still it's amusing to learn those old sayings. Bizarre indeed :)
