Hey Tasia! You wouldn't take the job unless the stylist you are assisting explicitly stated that it was fine because it can be seen as you going behind their back and "Stealing" their contacts/job opportunities from them. Word gets around quickly in this industry and you don't want to be known as that person because chances are, you won't get hired to work on bigger jobs which are almost entirely from word of mouth (such as celebrity gigs, TV/Film, music videos, commercials, ad campaigns--aka the highest paid jobs)
