Yeah, I totally agree. I've only seen it once, but the fact that he stops holding Laura's hand and goes to beat down the car mirror is brutal. It shows how losing this man that he once looked up to, found wise, was helpless and dead. Even when he's bringing back Xavier to rescue him after X-24 stabs him, when Logan tries to explain it wasn't him that killed Charles, it was emotional torture.

Normally I'd say that the Academy wouldn't even consider it, but Jackman's performance is undeniably brilliant and legitimately worthy of a nomination. A win? Who knows. It's way too early to call, but I don't think he'll have a problem getting nominated. I think Logan will get a Best Picture nom too as long as they use all 10 slots. It's a brilliant piece of character-based storytelling. Even though the deck is stacked as of now with a slate of genius filmmakers like Sofia Coppola, Aronofsky, Garth Davis, Chris Nolan, Alexander Payne, Kathryn Bigelow, Aaron Sorkin, Woody Allen, Todd Haynes, Roman Polanski, and more, I think it'll be nominated. Jackman won't win for his performance, but it's not because he isn't awesome. Daniel Day-Lewis performing in the lead role of the best character-centric storyteller not named Scorsese...I would literally bet my house on him winning.

Let's be honest though. Of all the portrayals of superheroes there have been, the one that most deserved a nomination is Robert Downey Jr as the first Iron Man. If it weren't for that role, he never would have been nominated for Tropic Thunder, because he MADE the character Depp-Sparrow style.
@AlexLove6317 жыл бұрын
I disagree. While RDJ's performance is great in Iron Man, it's not on the level of Jackman in Logan. Not only was X-Men pivotal in opening the door for modern comic book based films, but Jackman played the character for almost 20 years and he was ALWAYS great. RDJ is too, but Jackman gave it his all with Logan. If we ever get the Demon In A Bottle storyline, then RDJ could definitely give an Oscar worthy performance. And if we're talking past performances, I really feel like Bale is overlooked in TDK cause Heath stole the show. Bale's sense of desperation and hopelessness is so well done. He's also fantastic in Begins.

Coy was robbed with the BvS question, mostly because (and I"m surprised nobody pointed it out) JTE's rebuttals were all completely false... as was half of his argument. He says Loki was a jokester while Dr. Strange was a 'no-comedy kind of guy' (there was a whole sub-plot about Strange trying to make Wong laugh)... and the "Spider Man and Venom's powers are identical" is completely wrong as well... the symbiote mimics the spider-man powers, but it basically acts like a Spawn cape, forming prehensile tendrils, spikes, blunt objects, etc. Also, the only thing I don't like about Move Fights is how often Andy is completely in the wrong, is voted against 3-1, and then just says "Yeah well it's my show and I don't like Venom so I'm gonna let the other guy win." Fringe benefit of being the boss, but it gets extremely annoying for everyone at home screaming at their computers.

Best stunt sequence: the whole mall chase scene in Jackie Chan's Police Story from 1985. The sheer imagination, creativity, derring-do and physicality of Jackie and his stunt team was crystallized in that mall scene, culminating in Jackie sliding down pole 4 storeys high that was covered in actual live Christmas lights. Heck, that whole movie could've provided a top ten list by itself. Arguably, Jackie Chan at his best.

So I just really want to fangirl. I love Screen Junkies so much, honestly. I've been in serious trouble since I discovered your movie fights because I lose hours of productivity. I love movies and I love arguing in an intelligent passionate way which I find hard to do because people take arguments personally and none of my friends seem to understand why you'd want to argue with someone just for the fun of arguing. I love everything you guys do not just your movie fights (although they are my favourite). I'm going to add on a 'Screen Junkies changed my life'-esque sappy moment now: I'm a medical student in Nigeria and I watched screen junkies for the first time at about 2am at the Children's emergency when we had a lull during a night that involved me earlier trying to resuscitate this baby but ultimately losing the child (and that was the first death of a patient I ever really experienced). My friend and I were just sitting around and then we decided to go on KZbin and we stumbled on your channel and we just became so invigorated and it really cheered us up (It was an honest trailer, I forget which). I honestly haven't been the same since. I love everything you guys do and I'm sure you already know it but I just wanted to tell you guys that you're bloody fantastic and honestly so great and you have all sorts of fans everywhere in the world so just keep at it.

Considering all of the Marvel adaptations, since the first comment included Raimi's Spiderman: Willem Dafoe's Goblin, which was extremely camp and extremely awesome. D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk, which was a Golden Globe-worthy performance and a compelling character with clear motivations and a well rounded arch. Both version of Magneto, which is a great case of well-intentioned extremist. Even The sandman in spiderman 3 was great, even though they used him sparingly. And I have a soft spot for Tim Roth's Abomination (though I'm not sure if it's better). I think Loki is just good enough for his films, and possibly the best only in the mcu, which is not saying much considering the lack of great bad guys. He's so beloved because there isn't much else in the series.

A lot of that is just the script as he's primarily just villain for McKellan's time as Magneto while Fassbender gets to show the struggle between being Charles' friend and seeing the hatred humanity can have towards others.
@AmatoGore7 жыл бұрын
carlsiouxfalls agreed, people who prefer ian McKellen magneto just prefer him because of the nostalgia feelings. Fassbender all the way
@liamokeroa32227 жыл бұрын
McKellen is a great actor, noone can argue that, Fassbender gets a lot more range as an actor to chew on (and probably screentime overall) that gives him more of an opportunity to display a multidimensional character who portrays a range of emotions and different character motivations at different times. Obviously though Ian McKellen definitely set the platform for the character and if we think of all his portrayals as Magneto over mutliple movies he more than showcases his talents too.

Best stunt: Props to JTE for fighting for Buster Keaton, wich is by the way the biggest inspiration to George Miller for Mad Max Fury Road (he said that in an interview).

1. Twin Peaks directed by Yorgos Lanthimos 2. None but if I had to pick one Christian Bale in Batman Begins 3. Rocky 4. Gotta be Tom Cruise on the Burj Khalifa 5. If anyone ever remakes Jaws, someone is getting hurt. But the best man for the job? Robert Eggers, because I'd want a fresh new take on it with a fresh tone, not a carbon copy remake SR1. Han Solo. If they change it I will hate Disney forever. SR2. Millennium Falcon SR3. Jungle Fever SR4. Honestly I don't care enough about superhero movies to answer this SR5. Drive

Max Landis is only good for yelling, interrupting and then complaining and claiming bias when he loses. He is so high on himself that he cant see himself for what he is, a barely mediocre writer that only gets noticed because of his dad.

Logan wasn't boring enough to win an oscar. If entertaining popular movies started winning oscars, then loser idiots could no longer pretend to be smart by deluding themselves with a false sense of sophistication.
@mk6rfc17 жыл бұрын
Well I guess your gonna have a beserker fury then, the oscars don't care about movies that come out before Autumn apart from a few exceptions every few years

Jackman should already be locked in for a best actor spot. If other performances come later that are better (doubtful) then knock him off. But so far, he's the best performance of 2017

Before seeing winner: Nerd card, hand it over judge. Check yourself on Superpower Wiki for Venom. What you took as an edge was wrong. Like, a lie, wrong. The Symbiotes could have it's own series of movies.

Frustrating that the judges ignored the fact the Venom was Flash Thompson version, NOT Eddie Brock, so JTE's comments about the appearance Venom's face was null and void.
