could you make a video on how to read a pocket hit? I.e. flat 10, wrap 10. What causes it and how to fix it? I’m a 190 average bowler and struggling to read my hit and adjust.

I am just a house bowler, but find it amazing how people will leave 10 pin after 10 pin and not do anything different and complain about it. 95% of the time I leave a 10 pin I pretty much know I am.

If I'm throwing it good and I'm leaving 10 pin after 10 pin and moving doesnt work, it's the wrong ball to be throwing.

I'm lefty but I hate that thought as soon as the ball gets going down the lane it's going to be a 7 pin.

Can often feel the ten pin right off my hand. Some people think they should carry everything.

Oil pattern ratio, too.

I am looking for a Medium/Low volume ball. I have to much hook with the Zenith and Results+. The Vintage Phantom is close to usable. At 79 I have a problem throwing the ball fast enough over 4 games. I bowl at 2 lanes in Vegas. One has Kegel Helium and the other is the dry and they don't seem to know what the pattern is. They just save oil. The Zenith and Results+ work well on Helium. It would be the Phantom I would replace if there is a better choice for the dry.

Out of curiosity, is there a certain volume where you know surface is going to be key? 30 Mils over 32 feet will definitely play different than 30 mils over 42 feet and will transition different. How often do you find yourself adjusting ball surface during pre-game warmup?

I agree with you but as a league bowler how do I know what to do whether hit with a pad or polish?

I just wish i could start on fresh up 3rd arrow then move left half a board per shot. instead I have to start at 4th arrow and move about a board each shot. Or fill my bag with plastic. I guess maybe i should try some urethane for 3rd arrow lol. 42 foot modified main street 6 to 1 26 mil. even on tungsten I have to start left of 3rd arrow. Thats with polish. anything below 3000 grit and my balls hook at the arrows and roll half the lane past the head pin at 14 mph sprinting to the line. If i could throw it 20 mph I would be happy too lol.

No, 14speed is better. My teammate throws it 18 - 21 and it never even goes into a hook phase. Because he can sometimes get rewarded with a high hard cannon shots, he's not motivated to develop and get better so we never know with him if its going to be a 256 game or a 113. I throw it 13 mph, and depending on the ball and lanes, I'm standing anywhere from 15 to 27, and its forcing me to learn more releases, launch angles, transition, ball choice, and really fine tune my mechanics. Which one of us do you think will have a higher average a year from now?

That's why when you are in scratch tournaments and someone puts a shiny ball on the rack at the beginning of game 1, you know that person isn't making the cut LOL!

Good thing I’m on CTD staff, I never really have to guess what surface I’m putting on my ball, which makes it so easy when I do need to change surface. Great discussions as always! Love hearing people talk bowling no matter what it’s about.

Until you grab a surface scanner and found out that it’s not. Especially when using products that get their rating by different grit standards (CAMI, FEPA, etc)
