I watched your video on Google Slides and decided I would give it a try after Christmas this year. Let me just say "WOW"!! Not only did it help me to stay more productive during each of my classes, but the kiddos absolutely loved them and were more focused even. I would love to see more videos like this one, I learn so much from your tutorials on how to use and create on Google. Thank you again!!!

Hello Michelle- I'm going to be VERY honest with you :) This past school year, I was new to Third Grade teaching. When the (2019-2020), on-line teaching began, I was in a very difficult position. I had been a Kindergarten Teacher for many years. Now I had to write my on-line classes (self-contained) for a new grade level. I was definitely overwhelmed! I was So lacking in technology skills. I found your tutorials this summer. I value everything you have posted! I will be returning to teach Kindergarten and our school year will begin with 6 weeks of on-line teaching. As we move into the 2020-2021 school year I will use the knowledge you have shared. You have eased my anxiety! Thank you also for your positive and uplifting spirit .

Such a positive and happy attitude. It really helps when trying to learn new material. Online teaching is a totally foreign area for me. You demonstrate with clarity and go slow enough so we can see where your cursor is on the screen. This is important when you have no clue about the location of icons being referenced. Thank you so much for your uplifting tutoring. Lord knows we all need this!!

Love your videos! I teach AP physics and I’ve found so many great ideas about how to leverage technology with my students. As a side note: if you screenshot by using command+shift+alt+4 it copies the screen shot to your clipboard, so all you have to do is paste the screen shot on the slide, no uploading and you won’t have collections of screenshots on your desktop that you probably just trash. And command+D duplicates selected items. (It’s like copy and paste, but in one step.)

Sending everyone positive thoughts and love! You’re doing an amazing job Michelle!!💛💛💛

The Purrfect Pencil wow, 20 is actually higher than many teachers have. Think about it...those 20 kids want to learn from you, so only focus on what you can control. I know it is heartbreaking because you care about all of them. One thing I do is give those kids’ names to our academic coach and have him call students to determine if it a technology issue or WiFi issue.
@thepurrfectpencil4 жыл бұрын
I agree, 20 is a lot! I said less than half of 32, which would be less than 16. If I’m being more specific, I get about 8 students, and trust that I focus on those kids 120% as well as checking up on my other students. Our district has been offering wifi hot spots and chromebooks for families with any tech issues which is nice!😊

Awesome video, I think the hardest part of distance teaching is getting all your students to hand in their work, because you aren't always able to communicate with them all. Now matter how engaging I make my assignments, if I am unable to communicate with some of my parents, then the assignments don't even reach the student. The majority do engage though 💪

Thank you Michelle for the awesome tips! They are always super helpful, especially since I am first year teacher. My last day is June 18th as well. I am a long time viewer and subscriber but I rarely comment. With that being said, I can totally relate to my fourth graders getting overwhelmed with different links and additional resources in Google Classroom. So I've done something similar as you do with the Google Slides but rather in a Google Form. My students LOVE completing Google Forms and I've found that when I assign them homework on a Google Slide, even if I put it as make a copy for each student and pre-set backgrounds and text boxes, they still end up deleting things and submitting incomplete work. So, in the Google Form at the top, I add any instructional KZbin Videos or mini lessons that I have pre-recorded and some resources. Then I complete the form by attaching a text, math problems or creating questions I'd like for them to complete. That way, it is all in one place for them. So far, this works great! Hope this tip can also help other teachers!

Just finished and loved it! Seeing everything you did on google, particularly saving within the drive, was SO helpful. I'm (as sad at it is) thinking a bit into next year and mentally trying to prepare for the worst, and I'm a little out to date for google (I know 😂) so thank you 🤗 Also- LOVE the scavenger hunt! I popped on a first grade meet last week and I definitely had more fun than the kids with it 😂😂

My schools is looking into another platform for next year. It makes me sad because I love Google Classroom. I hope we got to Canvas because I at least know that! I am trying not to think too much about next year. The summer is my time to rest and relax, so I can be the best me next year!

I love your videos!! So helpful!! I just wonder how you deal with everything...I mean, I teach English in two different schools and I have 15 groups in different levels. I'm literally struggling with all the preparation because now almost all of these classes are live lessons! So, I'm using the computer before, during and after teaching!! It's been crazy and I'm learning with you a lot about how to organize my 10 Google Classrooms (+ 5 Microsoft Teams). Thanks a lot for sharing all you know!!

Anna Paula Forner I wonder is you could have one class and section them off with alphabetical letters. Then perhaps just make the kids pay attention to which posted lesson applies to their section?

I agree,Google for Education is great. I also found Otis for Educators which I really like. Super simple videos that are easy to understand and they show everything step by step. Just a thought. Love your videos!!
