When she said "Sbai" , she didn't mean "comfortable" but it's actually a piece of cloth which is part of women's traditional Thai clothing. You could see them wearing it while performing Thai traditional dance and whatnot

When I first started watching your videos, I hardly understood any thai. Over the last two years I put more effort into learning the language, especially understanding it and it’s so great to watch your videos without having to look at the subtitles. By the way you look like you‘re in great shape Paddy! Keep it up mate!

When I think of Thai culture I always think of food first and the friendliness of people second. No cuisine has a higher level and compared to Europe people are so much nicer to each other.

Thailand = Food. Most of what I knew growing up was Germany, as a Brit, born but not bred, we lived in many different countries. I grew up in Hong Kong, Malawi, Germany, Belgium, and a little time in the UK. At home we regularly had dishes like Spaghetti Bolognaise, Nasi Goreng, Chinese, Indian Curries, as well as British dishes. My first ever introduction to Thailand per se, was aged 24 being taken to a Thai restaurant as a leaving do by the Directors of the company I was working for. I knew Chinese food, Indian food and many others really well, but this was on a whole new level and it really left an impression. It goes without saying that the service and hospitality of the Thai people was also very much a factor. The restaurant was owned by a local British businessman, and his Thai wife and some of her family ran the restaurant. This was in 1997 and I can assure you that Thai food wasn't really known about in the UK. I went back to that restaurant at least 3 or 4 times in the next few years whenever I was home on leave from the Army. This first experience was the reason why, when I was first in a position to go on holiday abroad myself, that in 2001 I set off for Thailand.

That guys description of the Thai dating process and how it differs from the west was very enlightening and I even though I have been to Thailand some 6 or 7 times, and watched countless channels on YT, I have never come across this before, and it explains a heck of a lot and is very useful to know in understanding the Thai culture.

I think that might be more of an... Asian vs Caucasian thing. Rather than just Thailand.
@SeanHendy
@SeanHendy 6 ай бұрын
@@jaydenbraydon5405 that might not be completely untrue, but it gets more difficult to conceive when you consider just how many cultures, countries, and religions, that includes. It is certainly an interesting insight and does go to explain what some have said such as jealousy between bar girls in relation to customers. It's an interesting paradox.
@jaydenbraydon5405

@@SeanHendy Yeah agrees. It's definitely interesting. It's like how some questions are so common to Asians while those very same questions can sound rude to people from different country.
@SeanHendy
@SeanHendy 6 ай бұрын
@@jaydenbraydon5405 his observation about western dating is spot on too though. In that as a guy, a woman can agree to go on a date with you, once, twice, three times, and still not give any indication whatsoever that she is actually interested in you, and worse still, could simply be doing it in order to just be taken out and have dinner and drinks paid for her. I think his description of dating in Thai culture is something we in the west could learn much from. Lol, your last point, about the same question in different cultures, I remember a program of a guy who was visiting the Sami people in Scandinavia who live a nomadic life in the wild. He asked 'How many reindeer do you have?', and the guy laughed, because he said 'that is not something you ask. It is the same as me asking you how much money do you have in the bank'.

@@SeanHendy personally I always try to think it as.. There's always pros and cons to everything. To most people it's always 'the grass is always greener at the other side'. As an Asian, there are also girls that string you along just for freebies like meals or gifts. I think the difference between Asian and Caucasians for that is that the intimacy part? I guess. Typically, Asians only be physically close to the other party when the relationship is exclusive. But from my knowledge, Caucasians are more easygoing on that part? Oh my. You can't ask someone how many reindeer they have? Hahaha. That sounds something casual to my ears. I guess where they're from.. The reindeer is like how many elephants you have in India. It reflects on the financial status. Actually what I had on my mind was more like... How old are you. Or have you eaten. 😅

It's interesting that the proportion of foreign visitors in terms of Country of origin, appears to heavily influence the language people want to learn. In respect of Thailand's current foreign visitors, that would mean Chinese (Mandarin) and Russian, whereas for a long time I would suggest that second languages might be chosen based on industry or international commerce, or how common a language is spoken around the world. English is a pretty safe bet, but as for a third language I think all bets are off and it really depends on your circumstances and desire for learning another language. My Mum born in England, then educated in Belgium, so spoke English at home, was taught in Flemish and lived in a community where Flemish was the main language, was then taught French, English and German at school. She is fluent in 4 languages. As a kid we spent quite a few years in Germany, so I know a little German, learned French at school, and inevitably picked up a smattering of Flemish having relatives in Belgium, but still wish I knew much more. Oh, and I did a 10 week Japanese course whilst at College lol.

I’m curious if it’s hard for foreigners to stay In Thailand because of work? Many Thai people have told me the salary is not so good..
@leopoldjoe1270
@leopoldjoe1270 6 ай бұрын
It won‘t be hard if foreigners work online and get their salary from the companies overseas. Because Thai baht(currencies) are much cheaper than Euros or USD, thus they can earn a lot from their country and spend much cheaper cost of living in Thailand. This is possible for foreigners who can earn more than 50-60k monthly in Thailand. However, a lot Thai ppl can‘t manage to get that high income, so they tend to go and work overseas.
